As weird as it may sound, it seems that at 36 years of age, Novak Djokovic is playing his best tennis, and he shares the opinion.
With three out of four Grand Slam titles behind his belt in 2023, it's hard to argue that the season has been one of the best in his career, along with memorable 2011 and 2015 seasons.
Djokovic was also name the Itf World Champion for the season, which did not come as a surprise, but what may come as a surprise to some is that he's in his "prime" at 36.
During a recent interview with Jon Wertheim for 60 Minutes, the Serbian was asked a straightforward question, whether he thinks he's in his prime despite being 36.
"I could say, yes. I was fortunate to have several primes during my career. 2011 was the first best year where I had a run of over 40 matches won without any loss. The first loss came,...

Novak Djokovic is enjoying one of the best careers in the history of tennis, but whether his career is the best is up for debate, even according to the man himself.
The ' Goat debate' has been a very popular topic over the past few years, and that's mostly because of one simple reason and that's the fact that Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal, and Roger Federer will all end their tennis careers in the coming years, with the Swiss player already doing that last year.
With their achievements, trophies, and, most importantly, Grand Slams counted, and not many more to be added compared to how many they have accumulated until now, many fans are ready to give a verdict about the greatest of all time (Goat).
However, there's one problem about the 'Goat debate', and that's the fact that it's highly subjective. Everyone can take a different metric for...

Novak Djokovic is still one of the best players on the Atp Tour, if not the best, but still, he gets asked about his retirement.
For most of the athletes, age is a natural factor for stopping their careers, however, that doesn't seem to be the case for the 24-time major winner. He's playing better than ever, and that's why he's not thinking about the retirement.
He may not be one of the players that retire at their peak, as he wants to keep going as long as he's competitive. Djokovic's age is just a number, and during a recent interview with Jon Wertheim, he spoke about his future retirement.
"That’s a very good question that I don’t have an answer to. Maybe the moment will become closer once I start not to win the Grand Slams and not to be able to be one of the main contenders for major titles.

A documentary film centered on the Ohio State University (Osu) sexual abuse scandal is currently in production and aims to bring renewed attention to the alleged role of then-osu coach and current right-wing Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio).
Produced by George Clooney and directed by Academy Award-winner Eva Orner, the untitled documentary will provide a comprehensive account of the decades-long abuse perpetrated by former Osu sports doctor Richard Strauss, as narrated by the victims, which include former All-American wrestlers and football players who have chosen to speak out for the first time.
Mike Schyck, one of the over 300 victims of Strauss’ abuse, recently told reporters that he was extensively interviewed by Orner and the production crew. Schyck expressed his hope that the documentary will have a profound impact on the current efforts to hold Osu accountable.

Novak Djokovic recently shared an honest confession that engulfed him in the aftermath of his Wimbledon final defeat to Carlos Alcaraz last season.
Djokovic, who played in all four Grand Slam finals in 2023, finished with a 27-1 record, winning the Australian Open for a record 10th time and the French Open for a third time in the first half of the season. Djokovic became the first man to triumph at all four Slams at least three times.

Novak Djokovic sometimes explodes toward his box during his matches on the Atp Tour, and he recently explained why that is.
As a professional athlete, the 36-year-old often faces many challenges, and a lot of pressure on the tennis court, and when things don't go well, pressure can turn into emotion.
That's when fans can see Djokovic yelling toward his box, something that the Serbian often jokingly refers to as torture, but both Djokovic and his team are aware that it's just a normal relief of stress.
During a recent interview with Jon Wertheim, published also by Sports Illustrated, the 24-time Grand Slam champion gave some insight into what's happening when he shouts at his box.

Novak Djokovic is one of the most popular people in Serbia, but the 24-time Grand Slam champion doesn't want to become the president of the country.

On the Atp Tour, Djokovic is one of the leading voices, as he's the co-founder of the Professional Tennis Players Association (Ptpa), and one day, he could, in theory, become the leader of his country.
Recently, Jon Wertheim travelled to Serbia to meet the 24-time major winner and talk to him in an exclusive interview for CBS News. Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have met more times than any duo on the Atp Tour, with the Serbian star leading the series 30-29.
However, in the early phase of their careers, Djokovic was playing catchup against Nadal, who dominated their rivalry by winning 14 of their first 18 head-to-head collisions. Nadal won most of their meetings at that time, predominantly on the Spaniard's beloved clay courts.
Djokovic recounted how he felt intimated inside the locker room during a match at Roland Garros (which he did not specify) against his great rival Nadal. The Serbian, a rookie on tour, had his blood boiling watching and living through Nadal's pre-match antics.
Speaking on 60 Minutes, Djokovic tells American journalist Jon Wertheim that the locker rooms at the Clay Slam were not big enough and rendered personal space nonexistent. The Serbian remembers hearing his opponent's music bursting through the headphones while doing his pre-match warm-up backstage.

Novak Djokovic recently talked about various subjects related to his tennis career and revealed some secrets that have taken him to the mountain of omnipotence in tennis.
The 36-year-old Serbian is regarded as the indisputable Goat of men's tennis, winning the most Slams of any man in singles and holding the World No. 1 ranking for over 400 weeks. Last season, Djokovic became the first man to win three of the four majors in the same season on four occasions.
But even the man sometimes considered a tennis immortal is prone to emotional outbursts on a tennis court. And like any other player, he has lost his fair share of matches throughout his career. But Djokovic shared his view on the difference between the great players and the not-so-great ones.
In a captivating interview on CBS News, Djokovic tells the interviewer, Jon Wertheim, that the difference between the elite players and the rest is mindset.

Throughout his distinguished career, Novak Djokovic has been referred to by many names, and on the evidence of his insightful tactics, he might have earned the title of a predator.
What separates the best tennis players from the average or mediocre ones is their ability to excel in important areas such as shot execution, baseline decisiveness, mental toughness, and physique. Another understated approach is in-game management.
This is the split-second decision tennis players must make to change the course of a point or game. Tennis players have to think strategically within a short time on the court, and Djokovic recently shared a fascinating tip on how he achieves this through eye contact.
Yes, Djokovic, winner of 24 Grand Slams, believes some of these subtle moments, like observing your opponent's changeover routine, breathing process, and sweating patterns, provide plentiful areas of weaknesses that he could use to his advantage on a court.

Novak Djokovic is one of the best tennis players in history, but he's also one of the most emotional, showing his emotions on the court quite often.
The Serbian superstar had a rocky path to the top of the Atp Tour, one which saw him battle rivals Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer for nearly two decades. And if there was ever one thing that made him different than the two, it was his emotions.
Despite being known for quite a few outbursts early in his career, Federer built an image of a gentleman, while Nadal never broke a racket in his life. On the other hand, Djokovic was never afraid to show emotions.
Women's world no. 1, Iga Swiatek, recently explained that she doesn't control herself in those moments, and the same may apply to Djokovic, who may just need to release tension every now and then, something that proved to work perfectly for him.

A ground-breaking claim has emerged about Saudi Arabia's potential involvement in fostering a deal that could see the Atp and Wta tours lose out its controlling power over tennis tournaments.
Saudi Arabia is reportedly set to host a Masters 1000 tournament by 2025, which will act as a warm-up tournament before the Australian Open. The Gulf Kingdom has made its intentions clear that they're looking to inject an influx of cash into tennis following highly successful investments in other sports.
That move is likely to have significant repercussions on the tennis calendar, as it means it will overlap with Atp tournaments being held in Australia in the opening weeks of January, putting them at risk of being scrapped because of diminishing revenues from sponsors.
Most tennis players would instead flock to the Middle East to play in the Saudi Masters as a tune-up tournament, and, most importantly, have the chance to compete for astronomical prize money amounts.

Sports Illustrated (Si) editor and Tennis Channel analyst Jon Wertheim publicly called out the Atp for relaxing punishment on Alexander Zverev in the wake of two domestic abuse allegations.
Last month, a Berlin court ordered the German tennis star to pay €450,000 for physically assaulting his former partner, Brenda Patea, who is also the mother of his daughter. Zverev objected to the court ruling and the fine imposed through a statement by his lawyers.
The World No. 9 has refrained from commenting on the issue and has termed the fine as a "complete bulls**t," believing there is pure malice by the accuser. Zverev will contest the appeal and is confident of overturning the ruling.
Tennis fans have made their voices heard in this discourse and called for the Atp to reprimand the German on the tennis court too. And now American journalist Jon Wertheim wants to see the Atp take disciplinary measures against the player,...

Wta CEO Steve Simon has officially responded to a demand letter from leading Wta players calling for introduction of minimum of pay and better playing conditions.
Last month, at least 20 Wta players signed off a letter tabled to the Wta offices with a list of demands . World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, together with fellow Grand Slam champions Elena Rybakina and Marketa Vondrousova led the revolt after a series of discussions culminating with a crunch meeting amongst players during the China Open.
While the expectation was that they would get written feedback from the Wta as indicated in the letter, with a deadline date of October 13, the Wta CEO Steve Simon chose a different approach to circumvent the concerns.
Instead, he called for a direct dialogue and instituted talks with the Wta leadership team and players - one of which took place at the Wta Finals in Cancun where the world's Top...

A high number of Top 20 players on the women's tour have tabled a formal proposal to the Wta - the principal governing body of women's tennis - with a list of demands.
That is the word of sports journalist Jon Wertheim who put a tweet on X, without naming the identity of the players but disclosing that none of the American players and World No. 2 Iga Swiatek were involved in formulating this yet-to-be-seen document.
Wertheim captures an excerpt of the letter in his tweet, which reads, 'Tour is becoming incredibly demanding on us, creating physical and mental stresses not sustainable in the long run.'
Among the list of demands, the players are requesting a guaranteed minimum pay where the top 100 players will be paid $500,000. Those between 101 and 175 earn $200,000 and lastly, the 176 and 250 bands receive $100,000.

Caroline Wozniacki slammed renowned tennis journalist Jon Wertheim on X after he posted fake quotes from her.
In the age of social media reporting, quite a few things circulate quickly, and sometimes, readers don't know whether the news is true or not. Quotes are particularly troublesome as it only takes one person starting a fake quote for it to spread virally around the internet.
Obviously, sources are important, but even those 'we trust' can sometimes fall victim to fake quotes. That's what happened to renowned tennis journalist Jon Wertheim, who has since deleted the quotes in question.
Those were supposed to be quoting former Wta 's no. 1 Caroline Wozniacki, and the Dane should have addressed Simona Halep's doping case , but that never happened. Wozniacki was not happy about it, and she slammed him publicly.

Jackson State women’s basketball coach Tomekia Reed has blasted CBS‘ 60 Minutes for the way it portrayed Jackson, Mississippi, in Sunday’s (September 17) feature on former NFL player turned coach Deion Sanders. The segment on the show saw Coach Prime, as Sanders is known, interviewed by 60 Minutes correspondent Jon Wertheim, focusing on the legendary NFL cornerback’s move from head coach of Jackson State to the University of Colorado Boulder. In the report, Wertheim highlighted the differences between Jackson and Boulder, including things such as housing and environment. “The distance between Jackson and Boulder is a thousand miles, and immeasurably further culturally,” Wertheim said. “Sanders went from a city that is 83 percent black to one that is one percent black. From a place with a water crisis to a kind of hipster college town where there’s a shop devoted to kites.” During Wertheim’s voice-over, the video showed...

Novak Djokovic elected to delay his rest after the 2023 US Open final to help Serbia secure a spot in the Davis Cup Finals knockout stage.
It's been a very interesting week for Djokovic, who made his way from New York back home to Belgrade. He got a hero's welcome there and celebrated with his countrymen, winning the US Open a few days before that.
He didn't go on vacation after that but instead to Valencia , where he planned to play a few matches to help his country secure a spot in the knockout stages of the Davis Cup Finals. He wants to win the competition with Serbia once more, having led the country to the top many years ago.
He did that by securing a big point against Spain , though the other results greatly helped their efforts in the group - namely, Spain losing all of their matches on home soil.

Rafael Nadal celebrated his 37th birthday in an unusual way - undergoing surgery, which proved to be a success.
This isn't the typical birthday scene you'd expect for a professional athlete, but the path to healing was the gift Nadal chose for himself this year. As the sun set on the eve of his birthday, Nadal was in Barcelona, preparing for a procedure that would address a long-standing issue that has plagued his tennis career.
Only a couple of weeks prior, the Spaniard had announced that he would not be participating in the 2023 Roland Garros, and that the 2024 season might mark the end of his storied career on the Atp Tour. This surgery marks a critical milestone in his journey towards potentially competing in that final season.
The procedure in question was an arthroscopic surgery, a minimally invasive technique used to inspect and repair problems in a joint. The target...

The Church’s Firm
60 Minutes reporter Sharyn Alfonsi will delve into the $100 billion fortune amassed by the secretive investment arm of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. A whistleblower has alleged that, rather than using the funds for charitable purposes, hundreds of millions were spent to bail out businesses connected to the church. Alfonsi interviews David Nielsen, a former senior portfolio manager at the church’s firm, who reveals his involvement in a federal investigation and his decision to come forward. The segment is produced by Guy Campanile.

When it opened in 1995 in Times Square, the All Star Café was supposed to be the sports world’s answer to Planet Hollywood. Not only was it developed by the same restaurant chain, but it borrowed from its playbook, attracting legends such as Joe Montana, Shaquille O’Neal, Ken Griffey Jr. and Andre Agassi to serve as ambassadors to the brand. But what began as a red carpet extravaganza slowly deteriorated, a victim of changing tastes and rocky finances.

Sports Illustrated Studios & 101 Studios has partnered with future Hall of Famer Stephen Curry and his Unanimous Media to produce a narrative film and a documentary about the All Star Café. The projects will be based on Jon Wertheim’s 2020 Sports Illustrated article.
The All Star Café opened in New York City on December 18, 1995, with much fanfare as the themed eatery set up to be for sports what the Hard Rock Cafe is for music. It opened with a flurry of paparazzi, red carpet and a slew of A-list celebrities and athletes, but the final buzzer sounded on September 23, 2007, when it shuttered under the cloud of bankruptcy. That final chapter included the largest sports memorabilia heist in history cooked up by a group of knuckleheaded kitchen staffers, in what has been hailed as a Coen Brothers Fargo-esque criminal event.
The projects come under the 101 Sports Division partnership with Si Studios...

Looking back, it's somewhat astonishing that Tim Burton's 1989 film "Batman" was as big a hit as it was. Audiences were, of course, allured by the fact that 1989 offered the first time the character had graced a movie screen in 23 years and were likely intrigued by the fact that Batman was getting a massive budget and full-bore studio treatment. But the resulting film was odd in a way that wouldn't necessarily appeal to audiences today. Burton modeled the visuals of "Batman" after angular, shadow-filled German expressionist films like "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari," and cribbed its tone from bleak, nihilistic film noir pictures. The message of film noir is that there are no more heroes and morality is dead, and Burton had the temerity to drop a superhero into the middle of it.
What's more, "Batman" was strikingly violent. Characters bled. One character was electrocuted into a charred skeleton. The...
