“Christine” was first adapted into a cult horror film by horror master John Carpenter in 1983 about a teen who buys a classic 1958 Plymouth Fury and fixes it up, only to discover that it seems to have a mind of its own , a jealous, possessive personality toward its new owner and a vindictive, murderous past.

Jen Hollingsworth has been named chief operating officer of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group effective immediately, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group chairman Joe Drake announced on Wednesday.
Hollingsworth, who previously served as executive vice president of strategic planning and operations, will work closely with Drake in her new role.

Deal got made last night, with no producer attached, and it was Peter Kang’s first acquisition since moving to the studio from Fox. The book will be published this week and already has been named a #1 Indie Next 2013 Summer Ya Pick and one of the Top 10 Young Adult Books for Summer by USA Today. Foreign publishing rights have already been sold in the UK, France, Israel, Korea, The Netherlands, Turkey, and Germany. 20th Century Fox has acquired screenwriters Chuck Konzelman and Cary Solomon's Tokyo Ghost Story for Davis Entertainment to produce. The supernatural thriller is based on a Japanese myth about a Yurei, or the ghost of a jilted lover who commits suicide but returns to lead the offending lover to destruction and/or death. Peter Kang is the executive on the project. Davis Entertainment's executive vp production Brian Manis brought the script to Davis president Wyck Godfrey, who took it to Kang.
Love & Basketball filmmaker Gina Prince-Bythewood has scored with Fox 2000's I Know This Much Is True. Prince-Bythewood has signed on to rewrite and direct the project based on the Wally Lamb novel. Fox 2000 topper Elizabeth Gabler has been shepherding the project since the studio acquired it in 1998. Since that time, it has attracted high-profile attention from filmmakers and talent including Jim Sheridan, Matt Damon and Jonathan Demme. The novel spans several generations and focuses on identical twins, one a paranoid schizophrenic and the other a normal house painter who is trying to get his brother released from an asylum. The story follows their family history, what led to the illness and the twins' turbulent relationship. Peter Kang, who used to work under Gabler in her Fox 2000 division before moving over to Hutch Parker's TCF unit last year, is still overseeing along with Gabler for Fox 2000. Prince-Bythewood is repped by CAA. Her other directing credits include Disappearing Acts and Damn Whitey.
