A year after a Los Angeles jury failed to reach a unanimous verdict on her claims Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulted her in a Beverly Hills hotel room in 2013, the woman known as Jane Doe No. 2 at Weinstein’s California criminal trial has filed a lawsuit against the disgraced former movie mogul.
The woman, who also testified at Weinstein’s criminal trial in New York, filed her 14-page lawsuit Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court. It names Weinstein and The Weinstein Company as defendants and includes claims of sexual assault and battery,...

Closing arguments began Wednesday in the Los Angeles rape trial of Harvey Weinstein, capping more than a month of testimony that included eight women whose accusations of rape and sexual assault could be in the hands of the jury before the weekend.
Before prosecutors began their closing statement, the defense breezed through a few housecleaning witnesses on Wednesday, including a security worker named Christian Sheriff, who testified that there was a fire alarm at Mr. C’s hotel the night Jane Doe 1 testified Weinstein tracked her down in her room and raped her.
Another witness was FBI special agent Mike Easter, a cell-phone positioning expert who testified about a text message a Jane Doe witness sent from the Venice area to Weinstein associate Claudia Salinas. It was assumed that defense attorney Mark Werksman would clarify the reason for Wednesday’s witnesses in his closing statement.

Harvey Weinstein’s defense called on a choreographer from the 2004 film “Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights” to answer questions about a dancer from the movie, who is a witness testifying in the L.A. trial. The dancer has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by Weinstein during production on the musical film, which his company Miramax produced.
Choreographer JoAnn Jansen was subpoenaed by Weinstein’s defense team to take the stand on Monday afternoon. She was the main choreographer on the 2004 film, which was a reimagining of the original hit “Dirty Dancing,” and has worked on a total of four films for Weinstein.
Jansen said she has no recollection of ever meeting Ashley Matthau, who is an uncharged witness in the trial. Matthau had booked a small role as a dancer on the “Dirty Dancing” sequel. During her testimony, she alleged she was assaulted in 2003 when Weinstein masturbated on her in...

A fashion influencer accused by one of Harvey Weinstein’s alleged victims of “roping” her into a hotel bathroom with the disgraced producer for an unwanted sexual encounter took the stand Wednesday, denying many key elements of the Jane Doe’s testimony in a heated, sometimes hostile and exasperated exchange with prosecutors.
Claudia Salinas was a key figure in the Monday testimony of Jane Doe 2, a fellow model-actress who says Salinas arranged a meeting between she and Weinstein in 2013, then walked them into a bathroom at the Montage and closed the door behind them. Jane Doe 2 said when she left the bathroom after being assaulted, Salinas was outside waiting, and gave her an “evil look.”
Salinas corroborated meeting Jane Doe 2 and making fast friends in 2012. She agreed that they connected on social media, exchanged numbers and at one point, Salinas asked her for a drinks meeting with Weinstein.

After being subpoenaed by the prosecution, a social media influencer reluctantly took the stand, after she was given assurances that she would not be charged as Harvey Weinstein’s accomplice.
Claudia Salinas, a dancer and influencer who met Weinstein in the early 2000’s, was called by the prosecution, who questioned Salinas as to whether she led Jane Doe #2 up to Weinstein’s hotel room where a sexual assault allegedly took place. Salinas disputed the alleged version of events.
Prior to her testimony, Salinas appeared before the judge on Tuesday with her attorney, Scott Rosenblum, who expressed concerns over her testifying and suggested she might invoke the fifth amendment.
Deputy district attorney Paul Thompson said Rosenblum asked if his client, Salinas, could be charged as an accomplice. “I told him I haven’t charged her yet, I have no intention of charging her, but it is still within statute,” Thompson said,...

A woman who says Harvey Weinstein sexually assaulted her in a hotel bathroom in 2013 testified Monday that she was lured there by one of his executive assistants, a fellow model-actress who had befriended her, summoned her for a script meeting, closed the door to the bathroom and gave her an “evil look” as she exited, freshly shattered by what she had just been through.
Jane Doe 2 first began her testimony on Friday afternoon, but only got so far: She told how she had met Claudia Salinas, one of Weinstein’s small army of assistants, at an Oscars dinner party in 2012. They remained friendly, and about a year later Salinas told her “out of the blue” to bring her script to the Montage hotel for a meeting with Weinstein.

An aspiring actor and screenwriter who met Harvey Weinstein in 2013 to pitch a script testified that a business meeting went horribly wrong she was sexually assaulted by the former Hollywood producer who suddenly undressed himself, groped her breasts and masturbated.
Lauren Young, who previously testified in Weinstein’s New York trial in 2020, took the stand in the already-convicted rapist’s criminal trial in Los Angeles last Friday with her testimony continuing through Monday. In New York, she was called by the prosecution as a “prior bad acts” uncharged witness, but in the current trial, her allegations carry a charge of sexual battery by restraint.

After over a month of dramatic and emotional testimonies from six women who have come forward to accuse Harvey Weinstein of sexual assault, as well as revelations from lengthy cross-examinations and rebuttal witnesses, the jury on Tuesday began deliberating the mogul’s fate in a Manhattan courthouse.
Though the seven-man, five-woman panel heard lengthy and impassioned closing arguments from the defense and prosecution last week, legal experts are divided on whether the jury has been convinced to convict or acquit the mogul of the five felony charges against him.
“It’s really tough to predict what a jury is going to do, especially in a case like this that is going to turn entirely upon witness credibility,” Neama Rahmani, a former federal prosecutor who now runs West Coast Trial Lawyers, told TheWrap. “Even though the law says the testimony of one witness is enough to prove any fact, some jurors...

Harvey Weinstein’s defense attorney Damon Cheronis said in court Monday that the former mogul is not faking his bad back for jury sympathy and is willing to call his back surgeon to testify that the walker he uses is for real, despite being a subject of widespread ridicule in the media.
“So stop reading newspapers,” New York Supreme Court Judge James Burke advised, denying the request to call the surgeon.
“The jury thinks that he’s faking it,” Cheronis continued, unsuccessfully. “That could be a problem.”
Weinstein’s walker, which he leans on, stooped over, to enter and exit the courtroom, has been the subject of many news stories and even a Saturday Night Live sketch.
With no cameras allowed inside the courtroom, photos of Weinstein during this trial have been limited to his arrivals to and departures from the Lower Manhattan courthouse.

Claudia Salinas, a witness for Harvey Weinstein’s defense team, on Monday denied ever closing a door behind Lauren Young, who testified that she was trapped inside a bathroom with Weinstein and that he then groped her breast and masturbated.
Young testified that Salinas invited her to meet with Weinstein at a hotel in Beverly Hills to discuss a script that Young was working on at that time. Young said that Weinstein asked to move the meeting up to his hotel suite because he needed to get ready for an awards ceremony, and that she was eventually led into the bathroom of the suite and saw Salinas close the door behind her. Inside the bathroom, Young said Weinstein got naked, unzipped Young’s dress, groped her breast, and masturbated until he ejaculated onto a hotel towel on the floor.

Talita Maia, an actress, former friend and roommate of Harvey Weinstein accuser Jessica Mann, testified today that at no time did Mann appear to be disturbed or upset about Weinstein, even on the night Mann alleges she was raped by the Hollywood producer while Maia was just outside his bedroom door.
And in what was another critical hit against prosecution witnesses, model and social media influencer Claudia Salinas — who Weinstein accuser Lauren Young says helped lure her to Weinstein’s hotel room and then locked her in a bathroom with the naked mogul — flatly denied the event ever happened.
“Absolutely not,” said Salinas, a social media influencer in the fashion arena. “I would never do that. I would never close the door behind anyone.” Salinas denied that she’d ever been alone with Young and Weinstein in a hotel suite, and that she had never seen Weinstein naked, contrary to Young’s testimony last week.

Early this afternoon in a Manhattan courtroom, actress and model Lauren Marie Young, whose accusations of a sexual assault against Harvey Weinstein are included in a criminal case brought against the former Hollywood producer in Los Angeles, recounted a harrowing incident in 2013.
Young described being trapped in a hotel bathroom while a naked Weinstein groped her breasts, “grazed” her vagina with one hand and masturbated himself with the other.
By the end of the afternoon, Weinstein’s defense attorney Damon Cheronis had called into question numerous details of the account. He hammered away at inconsistencies in Young’s testimony today and versions of the incident she’d conveyed previously to law enforcement agencies and district attorneys on both coasts.
At one point, with Young’s pro bono attorney Gloria Allred seated in the front row of the courtroom’s spectator section, Cheronis, his hands in thin rubber gloves, held up...

Model Lauren Young has accused Harvey Weinstein of groping her, masturbating in front of her and ejaculating onto a towel in a Beverly Hills hotel bathroom in 2013.
Testifying on Wednesday afternoon in the disgraced mogul’s Manhattan criminal trial, Young appeared on the stand as the prosecution’s final “prior bad acts” witness.
