Some people like to sip the tea, but YouTube is sipping the pickle juice. The video platform has launched In A Pickle, a dishy interview series in which creators have two choices: Share your secrets or end up with a sour taste in your mouth.
In A Pickle will go live via the official YouTube Blog, where the first episode of the series is now live. The show’s format is reminiscent of the hit series Hot Ones, in that it pairs pointed interrogation with extreme food challenges. Instead of eating increasingly hot wings, the guest creators on In A Pickle respond to a set of questions. For each question they skip, they must down a shot of pickle juice.
That doesn’t sound like much of a punishment to me, but inaugural guest Haley Kalil has her own opinions. The model, funnywoman, and professional troll answered almost all of...

True to form, Dhar Mann is planning a special event for the people who made it onto the “nice” list this year. The filmmaker known for his virtuous videos will host an official premiere for his Unforgettable Christmas holiday special. This will be the first time the rising star has put on an in-person get-together for his colleagues, collaborators, and fans.
Mann’s lessons about right and wrong have made him a familiar name among kids who watch YouTube. After rocketing up our U.S. Top 50 charts over the past two years, the California native has positioned himself as a forward-thinking entrepreneur who has been able to turn universal morals into a burgeoning brand.
While Dhar Mann videos have exploded across the web, the channel’s namesake has kept a relatively low profile (notwithstanding an August 2021 profile in the New York Times). On December 18, the popular creator will head to...

425,000 full-time jobs contributed to the YouTube creator economy in 2021, according to data shared by the platform in July. A new website is looking to add to that total by giving creators a dedicated space for open positions on their teams. Paddy Galloway is the driving force behind YTJobs.co, where some of YouTube’s top stars are hiring help.
Galloway is a YouTube consultant who reaches about 426,000 subscribers by discussing online video trends on his personal channel. Several creators, including photographer Jordan Matter, have relied on Galloway’s services to stimulate growth on their own accounts. “One of the things huge to our channel was Paddy Galloway,” Matter told Tubefilter back in August. “You should watch him if you’re interested in the backend analytics of YouTube. ”
Through YTJobs.co, Galloway has found another way to assist his creative colleagues. The 26-year-old Irishman describes hiring as “most YouTuber’s [sic] biggest problem,...

Welcome to Creators on the Rise, where—in partnership with global creator company Jellysmack—we find and profile breakout creators who are in the midst of extraordinary growth.
And now for something a little different.
If you’re a regular reader of this column (or if you read the headline), you know it’s about up-and-coming creators whose YouTube channels are seeing big spikes of growth in subscriber and view count. Most of them have a couple hundred thousand subscribers and are just starting to hit eight-figure monthly views.
But Jordan Matter, who we talked to for today’s feature, is far beyond those numbers. He’s a well-established creator who started his channel in 2006, now has more than 12.5 million subscribers, and, as of July, brings in more than 300 million views per month.
So why exactly are we featuring the self-proclaimed “oldest guy on YouTube” for a column about creators on the rise?...
