Tom Cruise is known for performing his own stunts and in the middle of shooting a Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning stunt, wished his Top Gun: Maverick a safe and happy holiday.
The commercial in honor of Top Gun: Maverick premiering on Paramount+ on Thursday, December 22 made its debut during the CBS broadcast of the NFL game that saw the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
In the television spot, Cruise appears up in the sky getting ready to jump off a helicopter in South Africa as he notes that he’s in the process of filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One & Two.
“I didn’t want the year to end without thanking you all for coming out to the theatres and thank you for supporting Top Gun: Maverick,” he said.
Director Christopher McQuarrie taps Cruise on the shoulder to remind him that they really need to get their shot.

Lady Gaga has announced the new song from “Top Gun: Maverick” “Hold My Hand.” The song written by Gaga, features in the film opening May 27 and will be released on May 3.
In the highly-anticipated film, Tom Cruise returns as Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, a courageous test pilot who dodges the advancement in rank that would ground him. He finds himself training a detachment of Topgun graduates for a specialized mission the likes of which no living pilot has ever seen, Maverick encounters Lt. Bradley Bradshaw (Miles Teller), call sign: “Rooster,” the son of Maverick’s late friend and Radar Intercept Officer Lt. Nick Bradshaw, aka “Goose.”
Gaga’s soaring ballad comes after Cruise was first spotted at her Las Vegas show, Enigma in December 2019. “Hold My Hand” was written for the motion picture and is featured throughout the film. The single was produced by Gaga and BloodPop, with additional production by Benjamin Rice.

Exclusive: One of the most anticipated sequels of arguably the past 36 years, Tom Cruise’s Top Gun: Maverick is firing up its jets heading into its Memorial Day opening weekend on May 27.
We hear that the exhibition industry is likely set to see the movie first during Paramount’s presentation at CinemaCon in Las Vegas on Thursday, April 28. No word if Cruise will be making an appearance. Theater owners already got a taste of the Joseph Kosinski-directed movie back in August when Paramount showed off the pic’s 13 opening minutes, in addition to Cruise’s next big stunt in Mission: Impossible 7, which entails jumping a motorcycle off a cliff and parachuting. Skydance is a co-financer and producer on Top Gun: Maverick and the Mission: Impossible movies.
In addition, Deadline understands that the global premiere of Top Gun: Maverick will be in San Diego on n May 4 on a retired aircraft carrier.

Following almost two years of delays, fans of Tom Cruise and “Top Gun” are ready to take flight into the danger zone once again.
On Tuesday, Paramount released a new trailer for “Top Gun: Maverick,” which the studio has scheduled for a theatrical release on May 27.
Long in the works, Cruise originally announced the sequel to the 1986 blockbuster in 2017, with Joseph Kosinski (who worked with Cruise on “Oblivion”) stepping in as director following original filmmaker Tony Scott’s death. The first teaser for “Top Gun 2” arrived in December 2019, with a promise of a summer 2020 debut.
Then the coronavirus happened and forced the film’s delay, first to December 2020 and then again to July 2021. It was pushed again to November 2021, before Paramount ultimately moved the sequel again to its current position of Memorial Day weekend.
But based on the marketing materials, “Top Gun: Maverick” might be worth the wait. Tuesday...

Following a staggering number of pandemic-related release date changes, Paramount Pictures’ “Top Gun: Maverick” is finally flying into theaters May 27. The sequel to the Reagan-era blockbuster (also starring Tom Cruise) will first stop over at the Cannes Film Festival for an out-of-competition premiere. This year’s festival runs May 17–28. Watch a brand new trailer for the film below.
This will be the first time in three decades that a Cruise movie has played at Cannes. His last appearance on the festival’s lineup was Ron Howard’s “Far and Away” in 1992.
Once again, the film finds Cruise in “Mission: Impossible” mode, helming all of his own jaw-dropping stunts. “For 34 years you guys have been very patient with me, and I felt it was my responsibility for me to deliver for you,” Cruise told audiences at Comic-Con when the first trailer bowed (several years ago). “Everything you see in this film is very real.

We’ll all have to wait a little longer to see the much-anticipated follow-up to iconic 1980s American action film Top Gun, titled Top Gun: Maverick. Paramount just announced (via The Hollywood Reporter) that the sequel film starring Tom Cruise, originally slated to be released in June, will now hit theaters on December 23rd.
Top Gun: Maverick is the latest Hollywood film to be pulled from and/or shifted on the 2020 release schedule in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic which has seen many theaters in the United States and internationally closed for the foreseeable future.
Most early summer blockbusters have been moved to later in the summer (e.g. Warner Bros. decision to move Wonder Woman: 1984 from June to August), but, according to, via THR, “Paramount insiders,” the decision to move Maverick all the way into December is to allow Cruise time to prepare for Mission Impossible 7.

On Monday morning Paramount Pictures released a thrilling new trailer for Top Gun: Maverick. The music, the dogfights and the final scene of this exciting preview… Summer 2020 can’t get here soon enough!
The flyby in the stealth fighter at the end and the look Cruise gives proves he’s the Og.
“Today’s exercise is dogfighting.” Could Cruise be any cooler when he tells the young aviators how the training is gonna go down?! And he has a P-51 Mustang! The cinematography of the fighter jets is off the chain. Along with the synthesized music score from the original film, it’s just the icing on the cake for this upcoming sequel.
Wednesday morning you can catch a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Top Gun: Maverick.

Before he returns as Ethan Hunt is back-to-back Mission: Impossible sequels, Tom Cruise is making a franchise out another one of his action hits, Top Gun. With Tony Scott sadly no longer with us, directing duties are in the hands of Tron: Legacy director Joseph Kosinski, whom Cruise worked with on the sleek sci-fi spectacle Oblivion. Ahead of a summer 2020 release, Paramount Pictures have now unveiled the new trailer.
While the first preview was, as expected, Cruise-heavy, this one lets us in on the camaraderie between the supporting cast, which includes Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Charles Parnell, Bashir Salahuddin, Monica Barbaro, Jay Ellis, Danny Ramirez, Greg Tarzan Davis, and Ed Harris. Kosinski is clearly going for a more polished, modern vibe than Scott’s visceral 80s actioner, and one can see the new trailer and poster below.

Zan and Jayna are looking for their place in the DC Universe in Wonder Twins.
There are two things that make Wonder Twins #7 really stand out. Its storytelling elegance, and the way it juxtaposes delighting in its own lowbrow humor while also finding grace in those silly jokes. Mark Russell and Stephen Byrne's book started out as a six-issue mini about the Super Friends twins, whose previous greatest character development came in a one-off joke on Harvey Birdman.
