There are endless challenges to getting an indie feature-length animated film made: Lack of money, not enough time, fruitless rewrites, a vision that can’t get across the finish line. When asked what the biggest challenge was while making their upcoming comedy “Mars,” co-writers and voice actors Sam Brown and Zach Cregger can’t help but riff an answer to a question that inelegantly ignores the elephant in the room.
“Well, Trevor died,” Brown says.
“Trevor died, that was a toughie,” Cregger says. “I guess it was getting it funded — that was bigger than Trevor dying. No, no, no, no, no. Also, Covid was annoying. So let’s go Covid, funding, Trevor dying.”
Trevor is Trevor Moore, the de facto leader of Whitest Kids U’Know, the five-person sketch group — consisting of Moore, Brown, Cregger, Timmy Williams and Darren Trumeter — behind “Mars.” The group, which began as a club at...

The Washington Post is launching a new digital newsroom that aims to reach consumers on non-traditional platforms like Twitter and Facebook, the organization said on Monday.
The newsroom — its third overall — will utilize artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to produce more visual-storytelling, the Post said. It will also offer “flexible payment methods” for consumers who want to support the Post’s new digital news offerings, though it didn’t offer any insight into how that will work.
The venture will be separate, but complementary, to the Post’s core newsroom, which is focused on creating print and video journalism in a traditional sense, distributed across the legacy newspaper format and the Washington Post website and apps.

Sally Buzbee is stepping down as executive editor of The Washington Post after three years, as the publication plans to alter the structure of the newsroom leadership.
Matt Murray, former editor in chief of The Wall Street Journal, will succeed Buzbee through the 2024 election. Then, Robert Winnett, deputy editor of The Telegraph Media Group, will take on the new role as editor of the Post, responsible for overseeing core coverage areas including politics, investigations, business, technology, sports and features.
The newsroom restructuring will include the creation of a new division “dedicated to better serving audiences who want to consume and pay for news differently from traditional offerings.” That will include service and social media journalism that is run separately from the core news operation, the Post said.
Buzbee’s exit is the biggest leadership shake up at the Jeff Bezos-owned media property since new publisher and CEO Will Lewis joined the publication in January.

It’s that time of year again!
The old guard in media and finance and the tech innovators disrupting them are gearing up to hit Allen & Co.’s leadership retreat Sun Valley – where private jets sit bumper-to-bumper and power is carved up and handed out among global players. It’s an ultra-secretive event for the one-percent set (think Davos with higher fences).
But Variety can exclusively report that the guest list for the Idaho gathering includes National Amusements president Shari Redstone — in the thick of a deal to sell Paramount Global and with it her family’s media empire to Skydance — as well as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Hollywood super-producer Jason Blum. They join veterans like Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Bob Iger, Amazon’s Andy Jassy and Jeff Bezos, Warner Bros. Discovery’s David Zaslav, Apple’s Tim Cook and Netflix co-ceo’s Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters.

The past year has seen Eva Longoria direct the Oscar nominated Flamin’ Hot, form the Banijay-backed Hyphenate Media Group with Cris Abrego, and be awarded $50 million for her advocacy and charity efforts by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. That’s along with the Desperate Housewives alum’s other day jobs on upcoming seasons of Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building, Apple TV+’s Land of Women, and more. A dedicated Disruptor from the drop, true multi-hyphenate Longoria wants to see a shift in Hollywood, and she has the pillars of demographics and demand in her sights.

“Prepare yourselves.”
That’s what a sword weilding Galadriel (Morfydd Clark) declares to Elrond (Robert Aramayo) and her other warrior companions in the just released teaser trailer for Season 2 of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power – see below:
Season 2 of the J.R.R. Tolkien adaptation is coming on August 29, and “prepare yourselves” just might be an understatement.
One word: Sauron. Another word: Unleashed.
Much grittier and darker than most of Season 1, the just released peek at Season 2 also gives a brief look at the Charlie Vicker’s portrayed Mordor master’s Dark Tower. As well, there’s some new rings and their creation in there too, and one Hell of an explosion that could rival Mount Doom’s big blow-up in Season 1. Or, as Khazad-dûm Prince Durin (Owain Arthur) puts it in said minute-long teaser: “an evil, ancient and powerful has returned” — as you can see above.

The Veil Ep1 S3 Ending Explained: Is Imogen Working for the American? ( Photo Credit – IMDb )
HBO’s latest mini-series, The Veil, is a tight thriller with themes of espionage and international crime and operations. With Elizabeth Moss as the protagonist Imogen who is hell bent on proving that Adilah El Idrissi (Yumna Marwan) is actually Djinn al Raqqa of Isis, who is planning a huge attack on the US, the series has already shown how the former has rescued Adilah from the camp she was held captive in. The two then took a detour and eventually, Imogen decided to take Adilah to Paris to reunite her with her daughter. After the DNA test conducted by the American intelligence, Imogen’s superiors are convinced that Adilah is not the fierce Isis leader they are looking for. However, Imogen does not believe it, and this week’s episode proves that she’s not wrong.

Maya Rudolph opened the Mother’s Day episode of “Saturday Night Live” with a tribute to mothers — in every sense of the term.
Hosting the sketch show’s penultimate episode of the season, Rudolph began her monologue by noting she’s a four-time mom herself. “But Maya, look — you’re not just a mom,” cast member Bowen Yang reminded her. “You’re mother,” invoking the term’s use in queer slang to describe powerful, aspirational women. “You were the first to slay the house down boots, queen!”
“Who me, mother?” Rudolph asked, feigning shock. “You’re right!” The host then launched into a propulsive dance number, strutting through Studio 8H — also known as “House of Rockefeller” — in a reflective bodysuit while delivering lyrics like “Oops, I made you dance / Remember in that movie when I pooped my pants?” Other lines played on the many meanings of “mother”: “Who’s...

Warner Bros. Discovery added two million direct-to-consumer subscribers in Q1 and it didn’t even have Anduril, Flame of the West to rally its following. Yet.

Lauren Sánchez stunned in a sleeveless gown by Oscar de la Renta on Monday at the 2024 Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.
Sánchez’s dress was black on top and various kinds of prints on the bottom. It was perfect for the event, which had the theme Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.
Sánchez told Vogue, “In my head, it’s definitely a metaphor for life because it’s a little bit about all your broken pieces in life and putting those pieces back together. It’s not just a dress. It is really a piece of art.”
In April, Sanchez was spotted at a White House state dinner with her fiancé, Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon. President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted the event. Sanchez’s revealing dress sparked a huge debate online about its appropriateness for a formal function.

The Met Gala is the biggest event in fashion, with A-list stars walking the red carpet in unique, high-concept looks.
But after the event (watch it here) comes the party where those same A-listers get into something more comfortable and quite literally let their hair down. There were also a number of events leading up to the party.
Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Chris Hemsworth, Bad Bunny and Anna Wintour serve as this year’s co-chairs. Expect to see them — and a few Kardashians, too — as you scroll through the images of the festivities below.

Lauren Sánchez has garnered a lot of nasty social media commentary for her attire, especially for a revealing dress worn to a recent White House state dinner. Just last night, her signature style was on display at a night-before Met Gala party, in honor of Monse designers Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, where Sánchez donned a strapless see-through black lace Monse mega mini — not a usual look for the designers who are also behind the Oscar de la Renta label. Needless to say, the lingerie-like look got more of the same response.
For the actual Met Ball red carpet — a first Met stairs walk for Sánchez — she was accompanied by her future husband, Jeff Bezos (that is, one of the richest men in the world).
And, stop the presses, Sánchez’s look was not the most naked, over the top, or eye-popping dress on at the Met Museum — because at this year’s Met Ball,...

Kenneth Huang was known for his particular taste in wine. Whether in his favorite corner of Cut, the Michelin-starred steakhouse at the Beverly Wilshire, or in the Peninsula Shanghai, Huang would summon a bottle of Opus One to the table. He would tell guests that he had a private reserve of the Napa Valley vineyard’s 2011 vintage, which retails for up to $2,000 a case. Someone who regularly dined with the financier says she drank so much Opus One that she got sick of the bourgeois Bordeaux.
If the wine was Huang’s signature, it was a footnote in a picture rendered to create a specific impression. An outsider in a town familiar with cautionary tales about Chinese riches, Huang was performative about his wealth in a way that put Hollywood power players at ease. After becoming one of the richest people on the planet, Elon Musk also became one of the most famous as just about everyone is familiar with his companies. The entrepreneur owns X (formerly known as Twitter), founded SpaceX and serves as Tesla’s Chief Executive Officer.

9 Years Later, Prime Video's Best Sci-Fi Show is Still Unmatched (and Its 95% Tomatometer Proves It)
Sci-fi is a great way to deal with controversial issues like politics without getting into controversial issues like politics. Elon Musk’s net worth
Musk was born on June 28, 1971, in Pretoria, South Africa.
In 1992, he moved to America and attended the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Musk earned two degrees from the Ivy League school — a Bachelor of Arts in physics and a Bachelor of Science in economics.

Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez, hold hands like a picture-perfect couple on a date night for a state dinner in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday.
Sanchez held a sparkly clutch and wore a racy red gown that shined bright, with sleeves only on her upper arms. Bezos wore a classic tux look while holding hands with his date.
President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden hosted the dinner for Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida as part of his official state visit.
Sanchez’s cleavage-baring dress sparked a huge debate online, with many calling it “inappropriate.” to wear to the White House.

Jeff Bezos and his future wife Lauren Sanchez hold hands as they arrive at the State Dinner on Wednesday (April 10) at the White House in Washington, DC.
The dinner was hosted by President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden to honor Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
If you don’t know, the Amazon founder and his fiancee got engaged back in May of 2023. It’s unclear when they will be getting married at this time, but they did throw a star-studded engagement party.
The couple first went public with their relationship back in 2019, following Jeff‘s split with his wife of over 24 years, Mackenzie Scott. Lauren was formerly married to CAA’s Patrick Whitesell. The news of their divorce in 2019 came one day after Jeff Bezos‘ divorce was finalized.

In a letter to shareholders, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy offered a refreshing dose of clarity regarding the status of Prime Video.
Just how big is Prime Video’s customer base? For years, the only way to answer this question was via speculation, as Amazon has steadfastly refused to make data like subscriber totals or the profitability of its streaming segment public for years. But in a recent letter to Amazon shareholders, company CEO Andy Jassy revealed that Prime Video had 200 million customers, an impressive number but one that comes with an important caveat.
Prime Video’s 200 million subscribers put it behind only Netflix in terms of total customers. Every Amazon Prime subscriber gets access to Prime Video as part of their account. Jassy also suggested that Prime Video isn’t profitable on its own yet. 30-Day Free Trial $8.99+ / month amazon.com
At first glance, this revelation of Prime Video’s subscriber numbers is a big story.

Amazon CEO Andy Jassy saluted the company’s progress in video advertising in his annual letter to shareholders.
Overall ad revenue rose 24% in 2023 compared with 2022, he noted, reaching $47 billion and the growth was “primarily driven by our sponsored ads.” Amazon has added Sponsored TV to the mix, giving advertisers a self-service option that will inject their messages into more than 30 streaming services, including Amazon’s Freevee and Twitch.
Earlier this year, Jassy recalled, Amazon’s Prime Video started including ads on scripted shows and films. He pegged overall reach at 200 million monthly viewers across movies and shows, Amazon MGM originals and live sports including NFL Thursday Night Football. “Streaming TV advertising is growing quickly and off to a strong start,” he wrote.
Unlike Disney and Netflix, which have upped subscription rates for those preferring not to see ads, Prime Video introduced ads as a standard feature across its service. Any...

Amazon filed its annual report and proxy filing Thursday morning, revealing 2023 compensation for CEO Andy Jassy and chairman Jeff Bezos, with Jassy writing the company’s annual letter to shareholders, with generative artificial intelligence and Amazon’s advertising business both playing major roles.
Jassy’s 2023 pay package was in line with last year, with the executive earning $1.36 million, including a $365,000 salary and $992,764 in other compensation, mostly security services. That was up slightly from 2022, when Jassy earned $1.30 million.
In comparison, Jassy received a massive $212.7 million compensation package in 2021 connected to his rise to CEO, mostly in the form of Amazon stock.
Bezos, meanwhile, received only a $81,840 salary and $1.6 million in security costs, the same as in 2022.
In conjunction with the company’s annual report, Jassy also wrote his annual letter to shareholders, a tradition that serves as a venue for the CEO to outline his strategic priorities for the year ahead.

Ed Ruscha, running late to class one day in 1950, accidentally stiff-armed a glass-panel door at his junior high in Oklahoma City. “My hand went right through that door, all the students looked up, and there I was just dripping with blood,” says Ruscha, sipping a macchiato while seated behind a marble-topped desk in the skylit library of his Culver City studio, a sprawling 9,000-square-foot affair that was previously a movie prop house and before that an aerospace factory for Howard Hughes.
“I had this scar on my wrist for years,” he explains, rolling up the sleeve of an indigo button-down to inspect his left forearm, a rakish smile curling over his lips at the prospect of unearthing some remnants of that lacerating memory. “It’s almost gone by now.”

“TV doesn’t do it any justice.”
That’s what ABC News Live anchor Linsey Davis said, standing alongside “World News Tonight” host David Muir on the edge of Lake Champlain as the 2024 solar eclipse was just emerging from totality.
She’s right of course — as odd as it is to hear a TV anchor downplay the experience of watching TV. But with its two-hour live afternoon broadcast April 8, ABC News and National Geographic captured a sense of beauty almost completely foreign to the TV news landscape today, and found a way to preserve this moment of time with a pristine clarity and brilliance that technology’s made possible only recently.
Other networks devoted their airtime to the eclipse. CBS cut in, as well, and spent considerable time on a mass wedding being staged when the total eclipse came to Russellville, Arkansas; CNN had a reporter at a zoo in...

Road House, starring Jake Gyllenhaal, has muscled its way to the top of viewership on Amazon Prime. The reboot was helmed by Doug Liman, and the numbers recorded are a positive sign that even though the film was overlooked for a theatrical release, the power of storytelling is still compelling, even if it is on a small screen.
The choice to go straight to streaming was deliberate on the part of the makers and the studio. Either way, the move paid off, as the film has set a new record.

At least Amazon Prime Video is less obscure than Peacock. But still.
The NFL on Wednesday announced its “Thursday Night Football’ exclusive home, Amazon’s Prime Video service, will be the lucky recipient (read: it paid) of an exclusive NFL Wild Card playoff game for the coming season. It was a scatter-shot Real Time from Bill Maher on Friday night. During the course of his conversations, the blame game fell on just about everyone, from politicians to tech titans to those staging St. Patrick’s Day parades.
The night started with tech reporter Kara Swisher, host of the podcast On with Kara Swisher, co-host of the podcast Pivot, and author of the memoir Burn Book: A Tech Love Story.
Swisher’s dogged reporting has tech titans cringing, she claimed. “I think they’re scared a little bit,” and judging from her less-than-favorable comments on the likes of Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos, they may have good reason.
She characterized that a lot of moguls are “hugely narcissistic,” and said the yes-men that surround them pump them to the point that, “You start t think of yourself as a god.”
Swisher was not willing to balance their good works with that attitude.

Welcome to Emmy Experts Typing, a weekly column in which Gold Derby editors and Experts Joyce Eng and Christopher Rosen discuss the Emmy race — via Slack, of course. This week, we discuss the drama field, which has lots of open slots.
Christopher Rosen: Hello, Joyce! It’s Friday and we’ve saved the drama long enough. To misappropriate a classic line from one of my favorite comedies for purposes of this column: Are we having fun yet? Once home to “Succession,” “Better Call Saul” and “The Last of Us” among other bangers, this year’s drama category feels somewhat lighter by comparison. There is no real frontrunner, at least in the way we’ve been used to here, so that leaves “The Crown” — three years removed from its Emmy sweep but with a demonstrably less-loved season — and “The Morning Show” at the top of the predictions charts. Director Doug Liman still insists that Road House was intended for a cinema release, but concedes that he’s “very publicly lost” his fight to get the film on the big screen.
On Amazon Prime Video now, you’ll find Jake Gyllenhaal brawling with bad guys in director Doug Liman’s stylish, in-your-face remake of Road House.
As we’ve previously seen, though, the film is almost as famous for making headlines pre-release, with Liman vocally expressing his frustration that Road House wasn’t going to get a cinema release. The filmmaker wrote a guest column on Deadline, in which he said Amazon was using Road House to “sell plumbing fixtures.”
It’s something Liman says again in a terrific new video, spotted by World of Reel, in which filmmaker Casey Neistat visits Liman at a post-production studio in New York and talks to him about the director’s self-described “war with Amazon.

Road House is currently streaming on Prime Video, but the film’s director, Doug Liman, wishes audiences were watching it in theaters. According to the acclaimed filmmaker, Amazon is “giving audiences the shaft” by not hosting the film on the silver screen, and he feels as if he’s lost a public battle for the project’s worth. In a video posted by Casey Neistat, the notable YouTube sensation gets Liman’s uncensored version of the story and chronicles the director’s trip to the Road House premiere, which, adding insult to injury, takes place in a packed theater.
When Neistat and Liman meet in the room where the sound for Road House was mixed, it becomes apparent that Liman designed the film for theaters. Different studio spaces represent different mixing environments. If a movie will stream in living rooms, sound engineers mix the audio in a smaller space to replicate living room environments.

According to reports, MacKenzie Scott’s donation announcement came after Elon Musk accused her of “destroying Western civilization” by distributing money. Initially promising to donate $250M, Scott seemingly doubled the amount after Musk’s taunt. Now, her total donation turned out to be more than what Eternals and The Marvels earned at the box office combined.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez announced Eva Longoria and Admiral Bill McRaven as the 2024 recipients of the Bezos Courage & Civility Award.
The Bezos Courage & Civility Award was established in 2021 to support leaders addressing today’s seemingly intractable problems. In its third year, the purpose of the honor remains the same – to recognize leaders who aim high and pursue solutions with courage and civility. As part of the honor, Longoria and McRaven were presented with $50M each to direct to the charities of their choice, joining the ranks of previous years’ recipients Van Jones, José Andrés and Dolly Parton.
As a Latina woman, Longoria has been a longtime advocate for the advancement of the Latino community, both as a storyteller and fierce champion for education and entrepreneurship. This award signifies her incredible contributions to empowering Latinas to create brighter futures as well as her work to promote a more inclusive society.

Netflix's "3 Body Problem" adaptation, which I reviewed for /Film here, is a genre-bender in the truest sense of the phrase. Based on Chinese author Liu Cixin's seminal novel of the same name, the series takes its cues from hard sci-fi, horror, and even bursts of fantasy while telling a sweeping and genuinely epic story about humanity's first contact with aliens. The live-action series isn't the first attempt to bring the Hugo-award-winning book to the small screen, as China's own uber-faithful "Three-Body" beat Netflix to the punch a few years ago. But as much as hardcore fans might enjoy pitting the two adaptations against one another, even that manufactured rivalry is nothing compared to the behind-the-scenes drama that ultimately led to "Game of Thrones" creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss gaining the rights to put their own spin on the material.

President Joe Biden, appearing at one of DC’s oldest traditions, the Gridiron Dinner, made some sharp quips about Donald Trump but then turned serious about the threat that his rival poses to democracy.
Biden directed his barbs at his own age and at his predecessor.
“One candidate’s too old and mentally unfit to be president,” Biden said. “The other guy’s me.”
The dinner tradition, which dates to the 19th century, is a white-tie night that routinely draws the top echelons of government, media and business to watch journalists perform musical skits and politicians, also including Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer and Utah Governor Spencer Cox, do some of their own standup.
Biden noted that his student debt relief program “doesn’t apply to everyone. Just yesterday, a defeated-looking man came up and said, “I’m being crushed by debt. I’m completely wiped out.” I said, ‘Sorry, Donald I can’t help out.

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his fiancée Lauren Sánchez are giving away $100 million as part of Bezos’ annual prize to individuals who make significant contributions to society.
This year’s recipients of $50 million each are actor and entrepreneur Eva Longoria, and Bill McRaven, a retired Navy admiral and former chancellor of the University of Texas System.
The Bezos Courage and Civility Award is given to people who try to find solutions to complicated problems, attempt to be uniters, and embrace civility via work with charitable organizations.
The first recipients of the prize were Van Jones, a lawyer and CNN commentator, and chef José Andrés, who each received $100 million in 2021. Dolly Parton was the 2022 recipient. There was no 2023 award.
In a statement, McRaven said he wants to use the gift to focus on three areas: educating the children of deceased veterans, particularly in the special operations community; the mental health and...

Oscars weekend is the most star-studded of the year. Whether nominated or unattached to the Academy-recognized films, celebrities gather en masse to celebrate the awards show.
This year, like many before, Vanity Fair threw the largest and most extravagant after-party. The many groups of A-list actors, Grammy Award-winning singers, and cultural icons would make your eyes pop. Here are some of the most exciting:
(L-r) Tyrese Gibson and Chris Hemsworth. Billie Eilish, Maude Apatow, Sydney Sweeney, and Camila Cabello | Kevin Mazur/VF24/WireImage for Vanity Fair; Dave Benett/VF24/WireImage for Vanity Fair
Hosted by Vanity Fair Editor-in-Chief Radhika Jones, the 2024 Oscars After-Party took place at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Chris Hemsworth presented “Best Animated Feature” with Anya Taylor-Joy at the Oscars. During the after-party, he laughed with singer/actor Tyrese Gibson.
Euphoria stars Maude Apatow and Sydney Sweeney reunited for a photo alongside Billie Eilish and Camila Cabello.

Some social media users on X (formerly Twitter) have come for the red and yellow backdrop at Vanity Fair’s 2024 Oscar Party, complaining that the colors remind them of the McDonald’s fast-food chain.
Scores of stars walked the carpet at the magazine’s Academy Awards afterparty, one of the most exclusive invites in Hollywood, from Kendall Jenner, Kim Kardashian and Sofia Vergara to Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and his fiancée, Lauren Sanchez.
But instead of more restrained color palettes seen in recent years, including 2023’s blue-and-silver combo, this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Party featured much more blaring hues that share the colors of McDonald’s fries packaging.
“It looks like a big McDonald’s,” wrote X user @kenobisms.
Agreed @Tthasage, “Why did Vanity fair after party choose this red carpet set up. It’s so ugly reminds me of McDonalds and clashes with the clothes.”

Elon Musk, the controversial leader of Tesla, SpaceX, X (formerly known as Twitter), and, let us never forget, “The Boring Company,” made a rare appearance at a Hollywood function on Thursday night. The Future King of Mars landed at an SXSW promotional activation for “Fallout,” the new Amazon Prime Video science fiction series executive produced by Jonathan Nolan.
It isn’t too shocking to see Musk at a SXSW event. While he famously has no fixed address, he does maintain a post office box in Lakeway, Texas, which is about a 45-minute drive from Austin. Furthermore, SXSW has always been a safe space for “disrupters,” and maintains a bit of a Libertarian streak.
But it is a little surprising that Musk would go cheerleader mode for something streaming on Amazon, what with him and Jeff Bezos as dueling space explorers, but Deadline notes that the South African-born tech zillionaire is,...

According to director Zack Snyder’s maths, his Netflix sci-fi film Rebel Moon was seen more often than Barbie, with “160 million people” watching.
Last year’s blockbuster conversation was dominated by Barbie and Oppenheimer, but by rights, we ought to be throwing Rebel Moon into the mix.
According to director Zack Snyder’s calculations, 160 million people streamed part one of his sci-fi fantasy, subtitled A Child Of Fire, last year. He then reasons that, if those numbers were converted to ticket sales, then Rebel Moon would have outsold Barbie in cinemas.
Here’s what Snyder said on Joe Rogan’s podcast, as picked up by Variety:
“You think about Netflix, for instance, where you push a button,” Snyder said at a somewhat caffeinated pace. “Rebel Moon, right? Say right now it’s almost at 90 million views, right? 80 or 90 million accounts turned it on, give or take. They assume two viewers per screening,...

Oscar week is finally here! Ask anyone who has been in the thick of awards season and they’ll likely let out a huge sigh followed by exasperated admission that this has been one of the most hectic runs in recent memory. The condensed calendar, forced by last year’s dual strikes, could translate to more lively bashes, however, as there’s light at the end of the tunnel with Sunday’s Oscars. That can only mean that champagne is currently popping at A-list bashes across Los Angeles, and The Hollywood Reporter is on the scene everywhere from Vanity Fair and Elton John to MPTF’s Night Before. See below for the roundup of all the red carpet action.

Robert Kennedy Jr.’s independent presidential campaign is being boosted by deep-pocketed supporters of Donald Trump, venture capitalists, conservative Hollywood types, and other celebrities.
Democrats worry the Kennedy campaign could help tank President Joe Biden’s reelection bid and make Trump president again. He is also a danger to public health: Kennedy has spread false conspiracy theories about Covid-19 vaccines and claimed vaccines cause autism.
