It’s a scorching hot July day in Manhattan, but Anna Delvey wants to walk to her scheduled check-in with New York parole officers. All 40 blocks, that is.
Who can blame her? The infamous fake heiress, whose twisty tale of conning some of Wall Street’s biggest sharks became the inspiration for the hit Netflix series “Inventing Anna,” has been confined to a 470-square-foot apartment in the East Village for the past 10 months as she fights deportation to Germany, her most recent country of residence. Not surprisingly, she seizes the opportunity to be outdoors, her weekly Immigration and Customs Enforcement check-ins and trimonthly parole meet-ups providing her only escape. Wearing all black — a tight-fitting T-shirt, a bubble skirt and Roman sandals that obscure her ankle monitor — the notorious Russian swindler stands out from the sweaty masses rushing to their next air-conditioned stop.

June is ’90s month on Vice TV. But based on its recent programming decisions, it could be argued that the cable network is currently in a perpetual state of ’90s month.
With the debut of “Dark Side of the 90’s” Season 2 on Tuesday and the July 12 premiere of Nacelle Company’s docuseries “Icons Unearthed: Star Wars,” Morgan Hertzan, Vice TV executive vice president and general manager, tells Variety that his team’s goal with this content is to reach the Gen X audience through its seemingly endless love for the era.
“Obviously, a lot of media has focused on millennials, a lot of media is focused on the ‘Greatest Generation,'” Hertzan said. “We’re young for a cable network, we’re pretty young median age, as cable goes. And we really have that Gen X audience and they love when we do stuff like this. So we decided, let’s lean into that.

Vice TV’s “Dark Side of the 90’s” returns with its second season next month, featuring new twisted tales from the era. In the Season 2 trailer, which is exclusive to Variety, Mary Jo Buttafuoco breaks down the infamous 1992 incident in which she was shot in the face by Amy Fisher, a teenager that her husband, Joey Buttafuoco, had committed statutory rape against.
Labeled by the tabloids as “The Long Island Lolita,” 17-year-old Fisher served seven years on first-degree aggravated assault charges for the attack. “I turned my head to open my door, and that’s when my head exploded,” Mary Jo Buttafuoco says in the trailer.
The promo also includes 90’s icon Maury Povich, and teases of deep dives into “Cops,” “The Real World” and Mma and UFC.
Per Vice, “‘Dark Side of the 90’s’ reveals the soul of the decade through the pop culture moments, trends and people that captivated us.

The names Joe Exotic and Carole Baskin have begun to feel like relics of a bygone era. The debut of Netflix’s documentary series “Tiger King” debuted nearly the same day the world shut down in the wake of the global pandemic in March 2020, leaving us questing for something, anything, to distract us from what lurked outside our door.
We found (what passes for) comfort in the outrageous story of a “gay, gun-carrying, redneck with a mullet” named Joe Exotic, an Oklahoma zoo owner, and his feud that devolved into a murder-for-hire plot against fellow (and equally kooky) big-cat enthusiast Carole Baskin. “Tiger King” felt like a global watch event with how much everyone discussed it on social media. Almost as quickly, two dueling projects focusing on Exotic and Baskin were announced: one set to star Nicolas Cage in the title role for CBS and the other, for NBC’s streaming service Peacock,...

Finding a favorite new podcast to follow is process of trial and error. In some ways, it can feel a bit like internet dating. There’s that initial sense of excitement and possibility you get when you scroll through a site like Audible and spot a clever title, cover art or description that strikes your fancy. So you decide to give it a shot and sample a few episodes in the hopes of finding a show that speaks to you on a personal level. On rare occasions, the connection is an instantaneous case of “love at first listen.” But more often than not, the relationship proves to be a relatively short-lived encounter that leaves you wanting just a little bit more.
The good news is that with countless podcasts currently available, and an untold number of new ones being released daily, there are a ton of amazing shows out there...

Back in 2016, the Twitter account for French studio Pathé Films released a Nsfw trailer for the DVD and Blu-ray release of Paul Verhoeven’s much-reviled, T&a-fueled camp classic, Showgirls. This trailer itself was a work of pulsating beauty. Never had the story of Nomi Malone looked so pristine. And never had the film itself seemed so progressive. After all, the Nc-17-rated 1995 flop had been brutally pushed down the cultural stairs upon release, and for years afterward. Only in recent years had the tide begun to turn. “APRÈS Les Crucifixion,” the intertitles read, “La RÉSURRECTION.” In essence, those five words tell the story of Showgirls’ unexpected second life.
Those five words are also the theme of You Don’t Nomi, Jeffrey McHale’s wise, entertaining exploration of the life, death, and resurrection of Showgirls. Its subject is near and dear to cinephiles, bad-movie fanatics, drag queens, and pretty much anyone...

In 1992, 17-year-old Amy Fisher rang the doorbell to the home of her married lover, Joey Buttafuocu. When his wife Mary Jo opened the door, Fisher shot her. Mary Jo lived, and the media proceeded to eat the story whole — dubbing Fisher the Long Island Lolita, and creating one of the most enduring tabloid stories of all time.
Nearly three decades later, it’s back on the magazine shows, with 20/20 returning to the story — only this time, they’re looking at it from the point of view of the Buttafuoco’s daughter,...

It was like he wanted to be caught. Dennis Rader, aka the Btk Killer, is remained one of the most mysterious serial killers until 2005, when he was finally caught after the gruesome murders of 10 people. But Dennis is the one who did himself in, since he continued to send clues to police until one clue implicated him and he was finally arrested. But in an upcoming episode, Oxygen's Snapped will revisit Dennis' case — and the network will air never-before-heard audio with the serial killer himself. "How could a guy like me — church member, raised a family — go out and do those sort of things," Dennis said in the audio clip. "I want the people of Sedgwick County, the United States, and the world to know that I am a serial killer." (Photo Credit: Getty Images) Dennis is known as the "Btk Killer" because Btk is an acronym for his preferred method of murder: bind,...

The 1991 murder trial of Pamela Smart is one that takes a number of twists and turns, beginning with the apparent home invasion that resulted in the death of her husband, Gregg, to the revelation that the murder had been carried out by a trio of teenagers, who, it would be revealed, was actually coerced into that killing by the victim's wife, who had been having a sexual affair with one of them. It's all explored — in detail — in the Sunday, Aug. 19 debut of Pamela Smart: An American Murder Mystery, a three-part docuseries that airs exclusively on the Investigation Discovery network. What follows is a look at who the key players of this sensational story that was called "The Trial of the Century". Gregory ("Gregg") William Smart (Victim) He was born Sept. 4, 1965, in Nashua, Nh, and as a teen and young adult was more concerned with partying and Heavy Metal music than anything else.

“No one even calls this case the Gregg Smart murder case ever. It’s like he’s lost in it; he’s the ultimate victim in this whole thing.” There’s no escaping the truth behind those words. Back on the night of May 1, 1990, an unsuspecting Greggory Smart returned to his New Hampshire condominium where, once inside, he was attacked by a pair of intruders. In the end, one of them forced him down to his knees while the other fired a .38 caliber bullet into his head. That night, Gregg Smart did become the ultimate victim. But the irony comes from the fact that it’s his widow, Pamela, who is speaking those words. She’s the voice protesting the fact that Gregg seems to have been forgotten in the aftermath of his own death. But she is also the one who is serving a life sentence at the Bedford...

Natalie Wood seemed to hint at something sinister with husband Robert Wagner, allegedly telling her sister before her tragic death: “Sometimes it’s better to be with the devil you know, than the devil you don’t.” Lana Wood, now 72, revealed her famous sister’s eerie words to the creators of the blockbuster new podcast, Fatal Voyage: The Mysterious Death of Natalie Wood. The 12-part audio documentary is the culmination of years of dogged investigative reporting by a team of journalists lead by host Dylan Howard — and exposes chilling new evidence suggesting Wood could have been murdered. In the first four chapters, now available for download on iTunes, the podcast probed the tragic actress’ meteoric rise from child star to red carpet royalty, as well as her first marriage to fellow Hollywood actor Wagner, now 88. That marriage ended in divorce in 1962, five years after they began dating, after Wood discovered...

Long before there was Stormy Daniels, there was Monica Lewinsky. Save for the fact that the former is a porn star and the latter, a once White House intern, the two have a lot in common. In fact, Monica and Stormy are associated with two of the biggest political affairs this country has ever seen. While Stormy is still very much in the throes of the public eye, it’s been 20 years since Monica Lewinsky’s name was plastered alongside Bill Clinton’s on every major news publication in the world. That said, it doesn’t make her story any less relevant to today’s cultural climate. (Photo Credit: Getty Images) In light of the #MeToo movement, many people have criticized Bill Clinton’s affair with a young Monica Lewinsky as no better than the acts of sexual misconduct — and even the more serious allegations — that President Donald Trump has faced.

Mary Jo Buttafuoco didn't ask to make national headlines, but she found herself in the media spotlight along with her husband Joey and his teenage lover, Amy Fisher. Mary Jo was shot by Fischer, and she says now that the experience was "a blessing in disguise." Oprah Winfrey checked in with Mary Jo on the latest "Oprah: Where Are They Now?"
Mary Jo said that without the horrific experiences she went through on May 19, 1992, she wouldn't be where she is today. And where she is now is a place of happiness and, to her own surprise, love.
"I really thought that was it, you know, I had my one shot. I’m old, it’s never gonna happen again," she told Oprah. "Lo and behold, surprise! I fell in love at 47-years-old."

Former wrestler-turned-porn star Joanie 'Chyna' Laurer is training reality TV regular Joey Buttafuoco for an upcoming celebrity fight night with his ex-mistress' husband.
The two are holed up in Dennis Hof's notorious Nevada whorehouse The Bunny Ranch as Chyna attempts to get Buttafuoco fighting fit for his upcoming ring clash with Louis Bellera.
Bellera is married to Amy Fisher, who was dubbed the Long Island Lolita by the U.S. media in the early 1990s after she shot and severely wounded her lover Buttafuoco's wife Mary Jo.
Fisher, who was 17 at the time, was initially charged with first-degree attempted murder, but eventually pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated assault and served six years in prison.
Like Chyna, she is now a porn actress.

"Family Day" is supposed to be a day of happiness, support and celebration of progress in sobriety on 'Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew' (Sun., 9Pm Et on VH1). But things quickly spiraled out of control when Jeremy Jackson's sister made a joke in very poor taste.
Jackson has become good friends with Amy Fisher in rehab, but his sister didn't make the connection when she first met Fisher, "because you didn't introduce yourself as 'Buttafuoco face shooter."
Now, that's a very harsh thing to say to someone. She has no way of knowing how Fisher is tortured emotionally about what she did, though the fact that she's in rehab says quite a lot about how she's coping with something.
