The festival, set to run in Mexico from November 11-15, has unveiled the selections in its After Dark, American Specials and Green programmes.
Entries in the After Dark genre section feature films that have garnered acclaim at other festivals and include Matteo Garrone’s Tale Of Tales and the Latin American premieres of Robert Eggers’ The Witch (pictured) and Bo Mikkelsen’s What We Become.
The American Specials selections present Mexican permieres of Scott Cooper’s Black Mass and Marielle Heller’s The Diary of A Teenage Girl.
The Green strand presented by Discovery Channel showcases the Latin American premiere of Cyril Barbançon and Andy Byatt’s Hurricane 3D and the Mexican premieres of Louie Psihoyos’s Racing Extinction and Luc Jacqyet’s La Glace Et Le Ciel.
Festival top brass have also announced entries in the Cabos In Progress initiative for films in post that are made in or being produced with Mexico.

Matias Lucchesi’s debut feature Natural Sciences (Ciencias naturales) scooped a top prize, the Golden Mayahuel and €14,700 ($20,000) in cash, in the Ibero-American competition of the 29th Guadalajara Film Festival (Ficg), March 21-30.
The Argentinian production follows an adolescent girl’s quest to reconnect with her estranged father and was launched last month at the Berlin International Film Festival, where it won the Generation Kplus Grand Prix.
Sold by Urban Distribution, it beat competition from 18 other titles to take the top prize and also received the best screenplay award and the Feisal (Latin American Film Schools) trophy.
Lead stars Paula Herzog and Paola Barrientos shared the best actress prize.

With a promise to be back next year, bigger and better, the final day of the 15th Mumbai Film Festival presented by Reliance Entertainment and organized by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Images (Mami) unfolded.
After a week of celebrating cinema, the final few films screened today included Red Wedding directed by Guillaume Suon and Lida Chan, Short Term 12 by Destin Cretton, Saving General Yang directed by Ronny Yu, Hiroshi Toda’s Seventh Cat, Five Years by Stefan Schaller, Costa Gavras’s Amen and the much acclaimed Z, A Few Days More by Om Prakash Srivastava among others.

Mumbai – The 15th Mumbai Film Festival concluded Thursday evening with Mexican film La Jaula De Oro (The Golden Cage) winning the top honor of the Golden Gateway of India award in the international competition section for the best film from a debut director. The film – revolving around three young men trying to immigrate to the U.S. from Guatemala– is directed by Diego Quemada-Diez and produced by Inna Payan, Luis Salinas and Edher Campos. Australian-born director and Mexican citizen Michael Rowe has won the Camera d’Or at Cannes for his first feature, the U$0.6m Mexican ‘erotic drama’ Año Bisiesto (Leap Year).
“I want to thank the Mexican nation that created this story,” said Rowe, who received the award from the Jury President, fellow Mexican Gael Garcia Bernal.
Ballarat-born Rowe studied in Melbourne but moved to Mexico City 16 years ago. He graduated from Mexico’s top film school, Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (Ccc).
Año Bisiesto is the story of Laura, a young journalist from Oaxaca, living in a small apartment in Mexico City. Laura has casual sex to overcome her loneliness, but when she meets Arturo, they embark on an intense sexual relationship “in which pleasure, pain and love merge”.
