U.K. broadcaster Sky History has acquired “Liberté,” a short film about a female Muslim spy who served as a British secret agent during World War 2.
“Liberté” tells the true story of Noor Inayat Khan, the daughter of a Sufi preacher and an American, who became a France-based spy and radio operator for the British during the war, and was ultimately held captive by the Nazi regime and executed at the Dachau concentration camp.
The drama is written and co-produced by Sky News anchor, broadcaster and journalist Sam Naz, who also stars as Khan. The film is based on testimony given by Khan’s German captors after the war. “Liberté” is believed to have been the last word uttered by Khan before her death.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of Khan’s mission.

Helen George doesn't have ''time'' for a romance. The 'Strictly Come Dancing' star insists the break up of her three-year marriage to Oliver Boot, which was confirmed just before she began competing in the dance contest, has nothing to do with the show. She said: ''Yes, we've separated. No, it has nothing to do with 'Strictly'. It was amicable and we're not going to discuss it publicly.'' When asked if she was seeing anyone at the moment, she replied: ''I don't have time to see my friends. I don't even have time to go shopping - there's no milk in my fridge!'' The 31-year-old...

Helen George has split from her husband. The 'Call the Midwife' actress - who is set to compete on the upcoming series of 'Strictly Come Dancing' - has confirmed she's split from her husband of nearly three years, Oliver Boot. According to the Daily Mirror newspaper, Helen's spokesperson said: ''I can confirm that Helen separated from her husband some time ago.'' Last week, speaking on Front Row on Radio 4, the director of the National theatre, Nicholas Hytner, called on our government to reinstate the money it has cut from the budgets of out-of-London theatres.
His argument gains clout with this world premiere in Leicester of the musical about Jm Barrie's creation of Peter Pan and based on the 2004 Miramax film starring Johnny Depp. The show is produced by Harvey Weinstein, co-founder of Miramax and the force behind numerous award-winning stage and screen hits including The Producers and The King's Speech. He chose Curve, not just because of the theatre's stunning facilities but also because of its reputation for high-quality musicals under the directorship of Paul Kerryson. If Finding Neverland, directed and choreographed by Rob Ashford, isn't up there with Curve's recent productions of 42nd Street or Gypsy, that's nothing to do with the talents of the excellent 21-strong cast,...

The news that Miramax co-founder Harvey Weinstein was to make the leap into theatrical production with a musical version of his 2004 movie aroused a flurry of speculation: that Gwyneth Paltrow might be in it (she isn't); that Bono and the Edge would be paying a visit (they have). It's certainly a coup for the Curve to be the focus for such an event: though what actually emerges is an industriously staged, if slightly anaemic, adaptation of a flawed and semi-imagined biopic.
Dh Lawrence observed that "Jm Barrie has a fatal touch for those he loves. They die." It's hardly the premise for an uplifting, family musical; and Allan Knee's book romanticises events to say the least. It takes for granted that Barrie's cuckoo-like inveiglement into the Llewelyn Davies family was more of a blessing than a curse. The boys' mother, Sylvia, is conveniently introduced as a widow (in fact,...
