Jesus Is King 2, the follow-up to Kanye West’s 2019 gospel album, has leaked, according to a report from Variety. The record, created in collaboration with Dr. Dre, surfaced online, featuring remixes of songs that originally appeared on Jesus Is King and new verses from 2 Chainz, Snoop Dogg, A$AP Ferg, Pusha T, Marsha Ambrosius, and more.
The 15-song record wasn’t completely locked away prior to this leak. The Eminem-assisted “Use This Gospel,” for example, appeared on DJ Khaled’s 2022 album God Did. New versions of “Closed on Sunday...

It’s 2003 and Jay-Z is planning a farewell concert at Madison Square Garden to celebrate his retirement from music.
But his bass player is unavailable. Adam Blackstone, a jack-of-all-trades who plays bass, drums, piano, organ, tuba and sousaphone — and is also a songwriter, producer, composer and everything else under the musical sun — is more than ready to step in.
Twenty years later, Blackstone, now 40, is still working closely with Jay-Z; both are Emmy winners for last year’s hip-hop-heavy Super Bowl halftime show. And the musician who has helped everyone from Rihanna to Justin Timberlake shine is stepping into his own limelight.
Rihanna performed during the Super Bowl Lvii halftime show in February.
After winning an Emmy in 2022 for music direction, Blackstone is nominated again. This time, however, he’s a double nominee. Not only is he competing for his work on Rihanna’s explosive Super Bowl performance (a nom...

Fox News host Laura Ingraham found humor in Thursday’s memorial service for slain rapper Nipsey Hussle. Adding to insult, she showed the wrong Southern California rapper while taking swipes at Hussle.
On Friday’s episode of The Ingraham Angle, the right-wing commentator recounted details about Hussle’s memorial service, and dissected an anti-Trump song on which he was featured.
“Yesterday in L.A., thousands lined the streets to say goodbye to rapper Nipsey Hussle,” Ingraham said with a grin. “Now this dear artist recently released a song called ‘Fdt’ – F Donald Trump.”

Barack Obama reached out to Nipsey Hussle's family and friends by writing a touching letter for his Celebration of Life memorial service on Thursday. The ceremony was held at La's Staples Center, and digital media strategist Karen Civil had the honor of reading the letter at the beginning of the event. "While most folks look at the Crenshaw neighborhood where he grew up and see only gangs, bullets, and despair, Nipsey saw potential," Barack wrote. "He saw hope. The songwriter-producer Warren “Oak” Felder has an intriguing theory about the rise and fall of musical genres. “Any form of music starts at its simplest, gets steadily more complex, and gets to its peak of complexity, where people are doing music not for the audience but for other musicians,” he explains. “Some genres got to this level of complexity and they never came back from it, like jazz — it’s not pop culture any more. It’s a big influence, but you don’t have jazz artists coming out and...

Marsha Ambrosius, an R&B singer’s R&B singer, is responsible for co-writing one of pop’s most intoxicating odes to infatuation. That would be Michael Jackson’s “Butterflies,” perhaps the star’s finest post-Bad single, where his inimitable vocal quavers slam home all the tingly, head-over-heels couplets.
So it’s no surprise that Ambrosius excels in this mode on her new album Nyla, her third as a soloist and fifth if you’re counting her work in the neo-soul duo Floetry. She fills the album’s first half with odes to attraction.

There’s no getting around the fact that Dr. Dre’s legacy has endured for all these years thanks in large part to his ability to identify talent in other artists, extract from them their best work in the studio, and launch their careers (“Still got Eminem checks I ain't opened yet,” Dre reminds us on “Talk About It”). There are 16 guests credited on Dre’s new Straight Outta Compton companion piece, Compton: A Soundtrack by Dr. Dre, including R&B vocals from Jill Scott and Marsha Ambrosius. But it is with particular interest that we listen to the features from other rappers because that’s where Dre’s genius behind the board shines through the most. With Dre sitting back comfortably in the producer's chair, protégés like Kendrick Lamar and Snoop Dogg provide the album with fuel, newcomers like King Mez and Jon Connor enjoy their first real taste of the spotlight,...

He posted it late last week actually, although it was just brought to my attention today. I wonder what classic song Anthony Hamilton & Marsha Ambrosius perform, and what exactly...

At her sold out show in New York City, Marsha Ambrosius greeted the room with a captivating question nuzzled warmly in her cozy English accent. "Can you truly be friends and lovers?" she asked, stirring colorful responses from eager fans squeezed shoulder to shoulder in the packed venue.
The singer -- and one-half of the now defunct group Floetry -- has had her fair share of heartbreak, an emotion she's poured into her upcoming sophomore album, "Friends and Lovers." Ambrosius calls the album an autobiography of her past relationships, tales she selflessly shared between performances of familiar tracks like "Far Away" and "I Hope She Cheats on You with a Basketball Player," as well as a couple of new songs like "Where Are My Shoes" -- a sultry recount of putting the pieces together the morning after a wild night.

Kanye West knocks Mitt Romney in the first song off Cruel Summer, the highly anticipated G.O.O.D. Music compilation album due in stores on Tuesday.
"I'm just trying to protect my stacks / Mitt Romney don't pay no tax," West raps on "To The World," a song which also features R. Kelly. The lyric is an obvious reference to Romney's low tax rate and refusal to release a substantive number of tax returns.
Nicki Minaj also mentioned Romney in a song. On her and Lil Wayne's cover of "Mercy," Minaj raps that she was voting for the Gop hopeful ("I'm a Republican voting for Mitt Romney / You lazy b----es is f---ing up the economy"). Suspicions that Minaj was being sarcastic were confirmed by none other than Barack Obama, who was asked about the song in an interview and said that Minaj was playing a character. The rapper confirmed Obama's...

Kanye West certainly knows how to get press. A few short hours after it was revealed that he wouldn't be attending the MTV Video Music Awards, the rapper drops a helluva distraction: "Clique," his new single with Jay-z and Big Sean.
The song -- which was teased in a leaked snippet -- is off Cruel Summer, the upcoming G.O.O.D. Music compilation. It's produced by Hit-Boy, so it's no surprise that the drums have indeed showed up in full force.
Notable lyrics: Kanye bragging about Kim's sex tape (with Ray-j...), bragging about hanging out with former CIA director George Tenet, Jay-z mean-mugging snitches, Big Sean not sleeping for nine days, Big Sean shouting out 2 Chainz for no reason (no reason is needed!).
The song debuted on Kanye's website and was dropped by Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex as well.
Here's the full tracklist for Cruel Summer, due in stores Sept.

So, I'm not going to throw out the word "official" here being that I don't ever trust anything to be "official" until I actually see the father label say "This is official," but for what it is, taking a glimpse at this potentially "official" tracklist for Kanye and G.O.O.D. A snippet of a track off Cruel Summer has made its way online. TMZ posted clip of "Clique," a track which also features Big Sean and Jay-z. 'Ye is heard rapping about eating breakfast at Gucci, "American Idol," the CIA, George Tenet and Maybachs.
But one line in particular stands out: "Eat breakfast at Gucci. My girl a superstar all from a home movie."
It's a reference to Kanye's ever-present girlfriend Kim Kardashian, who became famous after an amateur sex tape featuring her and singer Ray-j was leaked online. Apparently, Kanye's love for Kim is so strong that he doesn't mind the fact that she became a national figure for sleeping with one of his peers.

With just over two weeks to go until the release of G.O.O.D. Music’s Cruel Summer, the tracklisting has finally been revealed. Of course, the usual suspects all show up here as G.O.O.D. Music members like Kanye West, Big Sean and Pusha T are featured on a number of the tracks.
In addition to the star studded hip-hop group, we also get some other big names making appearances as the team has brought on artists like R. Kelly, The Dream, Jay-z and Jadakiss, among others, to help out.
All in all, it looks like a very solid tracklisting and it has me very excited for the September 18th release date. I’m particularly looking forward to the Kanye/Jay-z/Big Sean track.
Check out the tracklisitng below and let us know what you think in the comments.

New York — Chris Brown is known pop singer, a slick bedroom crooner and at other times, a Euro-flavored dance singer. But it's his rapping that has taken his career to new heights.
With his hit single "Look at Me Now," Brown has dominated more than just the R&B territory: The boastful track, which co-stars Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes, was Billboard's No. 1 rap song of 2011 and it's nominated for best rap song and best rap performance at Sunday's Grammy Awards, where Brown's competition includes Jay-z, Kanye West, Dr. Dre and Eminem.
The song is just another example of Brown's rapping prowess. At last year's Bet Hip-Hop Awards, Brown went toe-to-toe with other hip-hop acts during one segment, and was so strong he left 50 Cent wowed.
"Chris particularly was impressive," said 50 Cent. "He rapped better than the rappers. I'm going to give it up. I'm watching the show (like), `How did they let that happen?...
