AMC CEO Adam Aron, who already has announced a push into retail popcorn sales and accepting payment in cryptocurrencies, waxed enthusiastic Monday at a flood of new ventures suggested by the chain’s 4.1 million retail investors. The floated ideas include everything from an AMC credit card and a return to movie producing to its own branded cryptocurrency.
AMC may have been fighting for its life last year, when it staved off bankruptcy multiple times, Aron said on a post-earnings conference call. But it’s a new era thanks to cash the company was able to raise from a ballooning stock price early this year courtesy of fans-turned-investors on Reddit chat rooms and across social media. CFO Sean Goodman read Aron a free-for-all list of questions culled from this pool during an earnings call with analysts after it reported Q3 earnings.

AMC Entertainment CEO Adam Aron sees two things protecting the circuit in the face of surging Covid cases trigered by the Delta variant – its own Safe & Clean protocols, and vaccinations.
“To our knowledge there has not been a single transmission of Covid by an AMC guest over the past year,” he said.
“Most scientific experts tell you the virus will increase in winter compared with summer, but the big change between this winter and last winter is vaccinations. And fortunately the number of vaccinations, especially among the most vulnerable populations, has been so extensive that we’re optimistic that we won’t see the kind of lockdown of society this winter that we saw last,” said Aron on a post-earnings webcast.
“We also hope that vaccination continue. There is no more important thing that any of you can do to protect yourself, your family, your friends and the country as...

AMC Entertainment Wednesday said it’s expanded the role of CEO Adam Aron to include chairman of the board, and selected Ambassador Philip Lader to serve as lead director.
As previously announced, current non-executive chairman of the board, Lin Zhang, and Mao Jun (John) Zeng, both of Wanda, are stepping down as AMC directors following Wanda’s sale of most of its AMC shares during an eventful year where the exhibitor’s business and investor base were dramatically transformed by the global pandemic.
The giant theater chain is holding its annual shareholders’ meeting on July 29.
As CEO, “Aron has overseen the Company’s transformative growth into becoming the largest theatrical exhibitor in the United States, in Europe & the Middle East and in the world. His most recent focus has been on guiding AMC through the complexities of coronavirus pandemic. Aron has significant business and executive experience, having led as CEO...

Not long ago, Fortnite was merely a popular video game. In 2020 — after hosting Travis Scott’s record-breaking “Astronomical” in-game virtual concert, which drew 12 million fans and catapulted his new single “The Scotts” to a Number One debut — it became an unexpected champion of the music industry. Fortnite is perfectly poised to become music’s next hot marketing tool, says Adam Sussman, president of Fortnite’s developer and parent company, Epic Games. (No relation to Scott’s record label, coincidentally also named Epic.)
