The co-founder of Rolling Stone is facing some major blowback.
In a lengthy new interview with The New York Times journalist David Marchese, magazine magnate Jann Wenner responded to concerns over representation in his recent book.

Rihanna revealed her second pregnancy in the most Rihanna way possible: floating atop a platform in the sky while headlining the Super Bowl Lvii Halftime Show. She made history Sunday night as the first pregnant woman to perform for the high-profile halftime show – and, of course, she absolutely broke the Internet along the way.
But nothing held the singer back, as Rihanna cradled her second baby bump, danced and belted out hit after hit, opening with “Bitch Better Have My Money,” before moving on to her long list of chart toppers, like “Rude Boy,” “Work,” “Umbrella,” and “Only Girl (In the World).”

“The ReidOut,” Joy Reid’s new 7 p.m. MSNBC program, topped the time slot in total viewers with its Monday debut. Unfortunately, the new show still settled for a fairly distant third place among adults 25-54, which is the key demographic for companies advertising on news programming.
Erin Burnett on CNN won the demo in the hour, when 384,000 of her 1.332 million total viewers were between the ages of 25 to 54, according to Nielsen estimates.
Reid drew 2.627 million total viewers last night, with 285,000 of those coming from the key demo. That key-demo tally would technically not be last place on cable news if you counted Hln, but this is generally considered a three-horse race.

Reid’s overall audience sum made the “ReidOut” launch the second most-watched regularly scheduled episode in the MSNBC time slot ever. A “Hardball” episode from Sept.

Three months after Chris Matthews resigned over sexual harassment accusations he later admitted were ‘highly justified,’ MSNBC is close to naming his successor in the old “Hardball” time slot: Joy Reid, the Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.
Citing unnamed individuals with knowledge of the matter, WSJ reports that MSNBC is “close” to announcing Reid as the new host of the network’s 7:00 p.m. Et slot, establishing her as the lead-in to its liberal-leaning block of prime time programming that includes “All In With Chris Hayes,” “The Rachel Maddow Show” and “The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell.” Reid currently hosts MSNBC’s weekend show “Am Joy” and serves as a frequent fill-in host for Hayes and Maddow.
Representatives for MSNBC didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from TheWrap, but WSJ reports that negotiations are ongoing and the final decision has not been made.

New York Attorney General Investigated NBC News, Per Reports; Network Says It’s Not Aware Of Inquiry
An NBCUniversal spokesperson said the company is not aware of any inquiry by the New York’s attorney general into allegations of sexual harassment, retaliation and gender discrimination.
The Daily Mail and Variety reported on an investigation on Tuesday, one day after it was announced that Andrew Lack, chairman of NBC News and MSNBC, would be departing the network at the end of the month.
Former NBC News anchor Linda Vester told the Daily Mail that she was one of the women who was interviewed as part of the investigation, and she said they wanted to know about any involvement that Lack had in claims of retaliation. In 2018, Vester accused NBC News stalwart Tom Brokaw of making unwanted sexual advances, something that he denied.
Variety spoke to three women, including Vester, who say they were questioned by the office, and it reported that a number of others also were interviewed.

In his first interview since abruptly retiring from “Hardball,” Chris Matthews owned up to the allegations of inappropriate behavior against him.
In late February, journalist Laura Bassett revealed that Matthews made unprofessional comments to her while she was getting her makeup done to appear on his show. She claimed he said “Why haven’t I fallen in love with you yet?” and “Keep putting makeup on her, I’ll fall in love with her.”
Less than a week later, Matthews announced his retirement from “Hardball” on air, surprising many viewers at home and some of his colleagues at MSNBC.
On Vanity Fair’s “Inside the Hive” podcast, Matthews said that Bassett’s account of what happened was true.
“It’s inappropriate in the workplace to compliment somebody on their appearance. This is in the makeup chair, and I did it,” he said.
He also explained why he didn’t refute Bassett’s allegations.

Chris Matthews acknowledges that former HuffPost reporter Laura Bassett’s accusation that he “inappropriately flirted” with her when she was guest on his MSNBC show “Hardball” in 2016 was “highly justified,” and he has “accepted the credibility of the complaint.”
In his first interview since stepping down as host of “Hardball” on March 2, Matthews told Vanity Fair‘s Inside the Hive podcast that the allegations Bassett made about him in a February GQ article were accurate. “I didn’t argue about it, I didn’t deny it,” he told Vanity Fair.

As the number of postive Covid-19 cases in the United States continues to climb, states are struggling to get the assistance they need from the federal government. Jared Kusher, the failed real-estate developer President Trump has entrusted to coordinate much of government’s response to the pandemic, isn’t helping. During a press briefing on Thursday, the son-in-law-in-chief argued that the Strategic National Stockpile, which contains a cache emergency medical supplies, is not meant for the use of states.

Bill Maher made some controversial comments defending the abruptly retired “Hardball” host Chris Matthews and slamming overreactions to the coronavirus spread.
“A friend of mine lost his job this week — Chris Matthews. Wanted to give him a shoutout because I will miss him and a lot of other people will, too,” the “Real Time” host said Friday. “MSNBC used to run this thing, ‘This is who we are.’ Well, I didn’t like who you were this week and I don’t think a lot of people who work there like this either. I think this cancel culture is a cancer on progressivism.”
Matthews announced his retirement on air Monday and apologized for making inappropriate comments to women on his show. A week earlier, a female journalist wrote an op-ed revealing that Matthews said things that made her uncomfortable in a 2016 encounter on his show and cited numerous other examples of women with similar experiences.

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders doesn’t seem to be forgiving – or at least forgetting – the Nazi army metaphor that now seems like the beginning of the end for Chris Matthews at MSNBC.
A day after Joe Biden’s Super Tuesday victory, Sanders told reporters that his own campaign has had to face “venom by some in corporate media” – and he used the Matthews gaffe as an example.
Although not mentioning the now-retired Hardball host by name, Sanders said today that “there has not been a campaign that has been having to deal with the venom by some in the corporate media. This campaign has been compared to the coronavirus on television. We have been described as the Nazi army marching across France.”

Journalists at MSNBC paid tribute to colleague Chris Matthews after his abrupt on-air resignation Monday night, and so too did Fox News’ Tucker Carlson … in his own way.

A freelance journalist said in a column published Friday that veteran MSNBC anchor Chris Matthews made inappropriate comments to her while she was getting ready to appear on his program – the latest account of allegedly insensitive behavior over the years by the longtime political commentator.
