Rush Hour's Brett Ratner has entered into negotiations to direct a new film about the Greek hero Hercules. According to Vulture, Ratner is in talks with MGM Pictures about helming an adaptation of the Radical Publishing comic book series Hercules: The Thracian Wars. The series, created by Steve Moore and Admira Wiljaya, follows the later years of the legendary hero as he trains the army of the Thracian King. (more)...

Source: FilmShaft - Brett Ratner Rumoured To Direct Hercules: The Thracian Wars
Here's an announcement for comic book fans. An adaptation of Steve Moore's swords and sandals fantasy series Hercules: The Thracian Wars, released by Radical Publishing, has been in development since early 2008, when it was announced that 'Hancock' director Peter Berg was working to develop the series for the big screen. Since the project was first announced there have been rumours abound of different names supposedly attached to the project as director, including Scott Derrickson and Peter Berg himself. However, the latest buzz suggests that film producer and director of the 'Rush Hour' trilogy Brett Ratner is set to take the helm.
This wouldn't be Ratner's first foray into the world of comic book adaptations, having directed 'X-Men: The Last Stand' in 2006. The screenplay is being penned by newcomer Ryan Condal, who...

Brett Ratner has a thing for Hercules. No, it’s not a scandalous tabloidy story; it’s the fact that the Rat is seriously pursuing a version of the hero’s tale now being developed by MGM.Vulture reports that Ratner is circling the idea of a project based on Hercules: The Thracian Wars, a Radical Publishing comic book by Steve Moore. The film’s been in development for a while now, but never quite found traction. Coincidentally, the rights are owned by Spyglass Entertainment, which just so happens to be the company now in charge of MGM. And now they apparently have Ryan Condal – who wrote an adaptation of Paradise Lost for Alex Proyas to direct – is busy getting a new draft of the Hercules script ready. It’s not the first time Ratner’s name has been brought up in association with a Hercules project either – you might recall that last year,...

Brett Ratner has entered into negotiations to direct a film adaptation of the Radical Publishing comics title "Hercules: The Thracian Wars" for MGM and Spyglass Entertainment reports Vulture.
The story follows Hercules years after he carried out his twelve tasks and has turned his back on the Gods. Now he and six friends have become mercenaries who've been hired by the King of Thrace to train his men into becoming an army every bit as ruthless as they are.
Ryan Condal wrote the script based on Steve Moore's original comic. The film was previously setup at Universal with Peter Berg attached to direct, while Ratner was circling a different (and now defunct) Hercules project for producer Avi Lerner last Summer.

My most loathed director, Brett Ratner, is currently in talks to direct a new Hercules film for MGM. After missing out on the Conan the Barbarian remake, he has managed to slither his way into a swords and sandals film after all.
Originally Peter Berg was interested in this project. It was last July we reported he was interested in a directing Hercules film. According to Vulture, Ratner is circling the same Hercules project and is in negotiations to direct Hercules: The Thracian Wars, based on Radical Comics book of the same name penned by Steve Moore. Ryan Condal wrote the script for the new project. He also wrote the script for Alex Proyas’s adapation of Milton’s Paradise Lost at Legendary Pictures.
I hate Brett Ratner and would have much rather seen Peter Berg direct this, so now I am not interested.

Brett Ratner may have machinations on an adaptation of Radical Publishing's comic book series Hercules: The Thracian Wars . Vulture is reporting that the Rush Hour director is in talks to turn the story into a feature film at MGM. Focusing on the later years of the Greek hero, the comic book series arrives from writer Steve Moore and artist Admira Wijaya and has been praised for its accuracy to the original myths regarding the half-man, half-god. The official description of the comic book is as follows: Fourteen-hundred years ago, a tormented soul walked the Earth that was neither man nor god. Hercules, powerful son of the god king Zeus, received nothing but suffering his entire life. After twelve arduous labors and the loss of his family, this dark, world-weary soul...

The saga of why parts of New York remained inescapably covered in snow days after this weekend's blizzard got a strange twist this morning when The New York Post reported City Councilman Dan Halloran's claims that sanitation workers had admitted to him that the slow clean up was part of an intentional protest by the unions over budget cuts. On Your World today, Brian Sullivan (in for Neil Cavuto) brought on Halloran to discuss his story as well as the Wall Street Journal's Steve Moore who warned that these kind of union pseudo-strikes could pop up all over the country in the coming year.

In this universe, as opposed to the proverbial parallel one, a two-hour dramatic reading of a biographical essay written by one comic-book author about another should be the sort of thing that inspires more snoring than awe. Thankfully, the men of Unearthing are only marginally of this plane of existence, and what they’ve created is positively out of this world.
