The live shows of “America’s Got Talent” Season 18 begin on Tuesday, August 22 with the first “Qualifiers” round. In this stage of the competition, the acts sent through by the judges during the “Auditions” phase will perform again for a chance to advance to the finals. Of the 55 acts we know advanced to this round, 21 incorporate some form of singing in their overall talent. That’s over a third of the acts still in the competition, leaving us to wonder whether singing acts have a distinct advantage when it comes to the world’s biggest talent show. In terms of winners, it’s been four years since the last singer, Kodi Lee, claimed victory.
In the first six seasons of “AGT,” all of the victors worked within the singing genre on their way to claiming the championship. Bianca Ryan, Neal E. Boyd, Kevin Skinner, Michael Grimm and Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr....

One of the most talked-about acts to come out of this year’s “America’s Got Talent” auditions is Putri Ariani, thanks in no small part to Simon Cowell blessing her with his Season 18 Golden Buzzer. All these months later, Simon is reflecting on the 17-year-old blind singer/songwriter’s audition at the piano and he’s expecting big things for her in this competition. “I would be amazed if she’s not either the winner or the runner-up. I mean, that’s who I put my money on,” he reveals in the NBC video above.
Putri came all the way from Indonesia to show the world her talent, and she performed two songs on the big stage: “Loneliness” and “Sorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word.” “There was something about her, even before she started to sing,” Simon now declares. “I just — I had a feeling. And I’ve done this a long time.

The July 12 episode of “America’s Got Talent” ended on an especially high note with a star-making performance from singer-songwriter Wyn Starks. Before he took the stage, Starks told host Terry Crews, “Fear has stopped me for too long… I have to do this. “America’s Got Talent” is TV’s only competition show that embraces all forms of variety acts, whether you’re a singer, a comedian, a magician or anything in between. Throughout its nearly two decades years on the air, seven singers have claimed victory with the others being a mix of ventriloquists, magicians, etc. (See the “AGT” winners list.) However, there are four specific variety acts that have yet to win the top prize of $1 million and a headline show in Las Vegas. Has NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” found its next singing superstar? Storm Large — yes, that’s her real name — wowed the judges during Tuesday’s third episode of Season 16 by putting a sultry rock ‘n’ roll twist on Frank Sinatra‘s “I Got You Under My Skin.” The 51-year-old musician has been working in the industry for 30 years, but still has yet to become a household name. After previously competing on CBS’s “Rock Star: Supernova,” Storm now calls auditioning for “AGT” an “enormous, terrifying opportunity.” Watch the video above.
Before she began singing, Simon Cowell asked her if they’d ever met before. Storm quickly joked, “We were so young, Simon. Let’s not bring that up.” Hmm, perhaps the judge saw her on “Rock Star: Supernova,” where she came in fifth place, or during her 2006 appearance on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”?

From singers to dancers to danger acts and everything in between, “America’s Got Talent” is TV’s only competition show that embraces all forms of variety acts. Throughout its 15 years on the air, seven singers have claimed victory with the others being a mix of ventriloquists, magicians, etc. (See the “Agt” winners list.) However, there are five specific variety acts that have yet to win the top prize of $1 million and a headline show in Las Vegas. Can any of these acts make history for “America’s Got Talent” in Season 15?
Comedians
Stand-up comics have come so close to winning over the years, but none have ever claimed the top trophy. Tom Cotter in Season 7, Taylor Williamson in Season 8 and Drew Lynch in Season 10 were all runners-up on their respective years. Can any of the Season 15 comedians pull through in the end? So far we’ve seen Usama Siddiquee give it his all on the stage,...

Boyd (Season 3), Kevin Skinner (Season 4), Michael Grimm (Season 5), Landau Eugene Murphy Jr. (Season 6), Grace VanderWaal (Season 11) and Kodi Lee (Season 14). However, a singing group has never prevailed … until now? Ahead of Tuesday’s third episode, NBC has released a sneak peek video of Resound, a humble singing trio from Richmond, Virginia (watch above). Do they have what it takes to make “Agt” history?

Child singer Roberta Battaglia so impressed Sofia Vergara at her “America’s Got Talent” audition on June 2 that she got the new judge to press her Golden Buzzer. This 10-year-old from Canada chatted via webcam with “Agt” alum Preacher Lawson about this life-changing moment.
This talented tyke is already a frontrunner to win season 15 of the NBC reality competition series. She would join three other pre-teens as winners of the $1 million prize and a stint at a Las Vegas showroom: singers Bianca Ryan (Season 1) and Grace VanderWaal (Season 11), and ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer (Season 12).
At her audition on episode 2 of “America’s Got Talent,” Roberta wowed the crowd and the panel with her powerful performance of the Oscar-winning song “Shallow,” which Lady Gaga introduced in the Bradley Cooper remake of “A Star is Born.” The other judges were as effusive in their reviews of Sofia, with Simon Cowell singing her praises, Heidi Klum...

At only 10 years old, Roberta Battaglia just made history on “America’s Got Talent” by becoming new judge Sofia Vergara‘s first-ever Golden Buzzer act. This Toronto, Canada native started singing when she was only three years old and credits her father with her impressive singing voice. “When I was little I would watch [‘Agt’] and I would say, ‘Oh my gosh Mom, I want to be there one day,’ and here I am now!” Roberta told host Terry Crews before her big audition during Tuesday’s episode. Watch the Golden Buzzer video above.
Can Roberta go all the way and win “Agt” Season 15? “America’s Got Talent” viewers are heartbroken. Even though their front-runner to win Season 14, blind autistic singer Kodi Lee, wound up taking home the $1 million prize during Wednesday’s finale, things didn’t go according to plan for Indian dance crew V.Unbeatable. Hey, "America's Got Talent" fans. Tonight, August 14, 2019, the first results show for the quarterfinal rounds did indeed air, and five acts were unfortunately eliminated when it was all said and done. All the judges: Howie Mandel, Gabrielle Union, Julianne Hough and Simon Cowell were on hand. Tonight's results show kicked off with a brief recap of last night's performances. The top 6 acts based on America's vote advanced to the semifinals. Then the 7th, 8th and 9th place acts were included in something called the Dunkin' Save. If Emanne Beasha looked scared to audition for Simon Cowell during last week’s episode of “America’s Got Talent,” there was no way to tell. As this 10-year-old Florida opera singer reveals in her NBC interview (watch above), “Simon’s a serious judge, so I was a little bit scared to perform in front of him. I was so relieved when Simon said that he liked it.” Emanne’s performance of “Nessun Dorma” didn’t just earn a “yes” vote from cranky judge Simon, but also from Julianne Hough, Gabrielle Union and Howie Mandel, which meant she sailed through to the next round.

With “America’s Got Talent” season 14 underway, it is a good time to go back and check in with all 13 acts to win “Agt” to date. The most recent of these, magician Shin Lim, proved that 13 was indeed a lucky number. Soon after he won “America’s Got Talent” in the fall of 2018, he competed on the first season of “Agt: The Champions” and took that title too.
In the final of that spin-off show this winter, Shin Lim edged out season 12 “Agt” winner Darci Lynne Farmer to claim bragging rights to being the best of the best. But will he be able to equal the success of that pint-sized singing ventriloquist? After all, this teenager spends her weekends and summers touring the country and draws sell-out crowds to her family friendly show. This Oklahoma native was the third voice thrower to win “Agt” after Terry Fator (Season 2) and Paul Zerdin...
