Following its Resident Evil 4 remake, Capcom is reportedly in the process of updating two spin-offs – Resident Evil Zero and Code: Veronica.
Capcom took something of a gamble when it remade Resident Evil 4 last year, but it undoubtedly paid off – the current-gen version providing a sensitive update of the ground-breaking 2005 original.
According to recent reports, Capcom is now turning its attention to a pair of Resident Evil spin-offs: 2000’s Resident Evil – Code: Veronica and 2002’s Resident Evil Zero. Both were third-person survival horror games, much like the mainline franchise, but came with their own narrative twists on the formula. Resident Evil Zero’s story switched between two protagonists – cop Rebecca Chambers and convict Billy Coen – and featured a horde of mutant killer leeches.
Code: Veronica was set on a prison island and followed the investigations of brother-sister S.T.A.R.S agents. Both spin-offs were big successes in their day, and both...

Last week, we heard that the 2021 live-action feature Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City may be getting a follow-up of sorts, as a project called Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles is in the works, coming from the same company that was behind Welcome to Raccoon City (Raccoon Hg Film Productions) and set to film in the same area: Greater Sudbury, a city in Ontario, Canada. Now the Resident Evil Wiki team has given us further information that indicates the new film will be based on the 2002 video game Resident Evil Zero!
A Production Weekly listing offers the following Spoiler-filled synopsis for Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles: Stars operative Rebecca Chambers and former Marine Billy Coen venture through a train that eventually takes them into a derelict training facility. Once within the facility, they discover they are being stalked by James Marcus, a co-founder of the Umbrella Corporation and creator of the T-Virus,...

Being outshone is never fun. That was unfortunately the case for Resident Evil Zero when it was released the same year as the acclaimed Resident Evil remake. Having to follow up the latter’s success, especially when taking into account that RE0 was in development for far longer than the remake, it seemed that the prequel faced an insurmountable task. The game still sold well, but 20 years later, it would seem that Resident Evil Zero has been left by the wayside by Capcom and its fans. But is that fair?
Resident Evil Zero takes place just prior to the start of Resident Evil, where the the Ecliptic Express, a train owned by Umbrella, comes under attack from a swarm of leeches. Two hours later, S.T.A.R.S. Bravo Team is sent via helicopter to investigate a series of cannibalistic murders in the Arklay Mountains outside of Raccoon City.

The reveal of Resident Evil Village‘s release date and gameplay brings us that much closer to another entry into one of the more complicated (and sometimes confusing) timelines in video game history.
Granted, the Resident Evil timeline doesn’t stray too far from the release order of the games themselves, but subtle shifts in the storyline created by the occasional odd entry mean that it’s easy to lose track of how we got here. That’s why we’re going to try to help chart the Resident Evil timeline as it stands today.
For the purposes of this discussion, please note that we’re only talking about the Resident Evil games and not the live-action or animated movies. Furthermore, we’ve included some spinoffs but are ignoring games that are either largely irrelevant to the timeline (such as Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D) or have been removed from...

There’ve been a lot of reports coming out regarding possible casting choices for the hugely anticipated Resident Evil reboot and now, it seems a Zombieland: Double Tap star is being eyed for the role of Rebecca Chambers.
Rebecca was initially introduced as a supporting character in the first Resident Evil game back in 1996. She was a young officer with the S.T.A.R.S. police unit and found herself trapped in a mansion filled with zombies. Later in 2002, she was the protagonist of the prequel game Resident Evil Zero, which depicted the events prior to that horrific ordeal. In Zero, she’s separated from her team and partnered with escaped convict Billy Coen to survive. Now, it seems she’ll make her big screen debut in the upcoming reboot and we’re hearing of one actress that’s being eyed for the part.
