Netflix has unveiled nine new movies and series from Poland including the directorial debut of High Water writer Kasper Bajon and a thriller from the team behind Forgotten Love.
As the streamer continues to unveil international originals by the bucket load, Project UFO leads the Poland slate, a mini-series helmed by Bajon that will transport fans of stories inspired by real events to the 1980s in order to investigate the alleged UFO landing in a remote countryside village.
Bajon wrote the popular High Water series, one of the biggest to come from Netflix Poland, about the 1997 Central European flood and how it was managed by the authorities of the Polish city of Wrocław.
Meanwhile, Michał Gazda (director) and Magdalena Szwedkowicz (producer), the team behind last year’s Netflix Poland movie Forgotten Love, are re-teaming on a movie following a retired policeman trying to bring to justice to those behind a ruthless bank robbery case,...

Photo: Jan Belcl Jan Belcl is a young, Slovenian director hot off the success of his new hit film, ‘All My Friends Are Dead’. His script features an ensemble cast of characters at a party on New Year’s Eve where things start to descend into chaos. Amidst a stellar plot, comedy and horror come together to create a wonderfully-entertaining choice for a Saturday night movie. Before directing ‘All My Friends Are Dead’, Jan worked on several large Polish films with his mentor, Mitja Okorn. Some of his filmographies includes the Hollywood blockbuster ‘Life in a Year’ with Cara Delevigne and Jaden Smith, as well as Polish romantic-comedy ‘Planeta Singli’. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to interview Jan to discuss his new film, mentor, and the Polish Cinema scene. "I know it's not always easy, but nothing ever is... That's why we make plans." Plans for... a whole life? An official trailer has arrived for Life in a Year, a new romance project from Jaden Smith (exec produced by Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith). The emotional drama is about a 17-year-old boy named Daryn, played by Jaden, who falls for a girl he meets at an ice cream shop. But when he learns that she is terminally ill, with only a year left to live, he sets out to give her an entire life in the last year she has. Cara Delevingne co-stars, with a cast including RZA, Nia Long, Cuba Gooding Jr., and Chris D'Elia. This looks sweet but extra campy, a bit overblown with its platitudes and grandiosity. But you gotta live your life! Yeah, sure. Here's the official trailer (+ poster) for Mitja Okorn's Life in a Year,...

The romantic drama Life in a Year seemed to have enough elements to draw a crowd at the box office: popular stars (Jaden Smith, Cara Delevingne), A-listers on the production team (Will and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Overbrook Entertainment) and the premise of a young man pledging to give his dying girlfriend an entire life in the year she has left.
But the Mitja Okorn-directed film also has a big fly in the ointment: two supporting players — Cuba Gooding Jr. and Chris D’Elia — who have faced sexual misconduct allegations in recent weeks.

Cara Delevingne is set to executive produce and host an all-female practical joke series from ITV America’s Sirens Media, for Quibi.
In each episode of the as-yet untitled show, Delevingne and a band of female accomplices will wreak havoc, executing a new stunt or practical joke – ranging from the ridiculous to the extreme – often putting themselves in unwieldy and unpredictable situations in the process.
“I am so excited to be partnering with such a revolutionary streaming service like Quibi and cannot wait to unleash some necessary mischief,” said Delevingne. “As someone who watches so much content on my phone, this feels like such a perfect partnership.”
The series is produced for Quibi by Sirens Media, an ITV America company, with Jessica Sebastian serving as executive producer.
