By most measures, Rome’s Mia Market, has been a solid success. The eighth edition of the event, which acts as a platform for international series, feature films, animation and documentaries, wrapped up this week, posting a 20 percent increase in attendance compared to 2021.
In addition to the programming highlights — Warp Films’ The Abbess, a project billed as a sharp dramedy about a Machiavellian power struggle among nuns in a cloister, took the Paramount+ prize for best pitch at this year’s Mia Drama Pitching Forum; Forastera, a Spanish drama from first-time director Lucia Alenar Iglesias took Mia’s new ArteKino International Prize, which aims to support emerging international filmmakers — for many, Mia marked a return to the international marketplace after years of Covid-era isolation.

Rome’s Mia, a market dedicated to international TV series, feature films, animation and documentaries, wrapped its eighth edition on Saturday on a positive note boasting a 20 rise in attendance compared with 2021, having attracted more than 2,400 registered industry execs from 60 countries, more than half of which from Italy. However, the pandemic was still limiting travel last year, which makes comparisons difficult.
The mood was undoubtedly upbeat in the halls and terraces of central Rome’s Palazzo Barberini – which besides being Italy’s national ancient art gallery is also the market’s main hub – and in the adjacent state-of-the-art Cinema Barberini movie theater during five days of curated dealmaking and dozens of panels and project pitching sessions involving 70 TV, film, doc and animation projects.

Rome’s innovative Mia market dedicated to international TV series, feature films, and documentaries is gearing up for its eighth edition with an increased international industry presence, a new animation section, and lots of European content – most of which in early stages of production – on display.
The upcoming Oct. 11-15 Mia mart (whose acronym stands for the Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo or International Audiovisual Market) this year is positioned prior to the Mipcom content market and conference that runs Oct. 17-20 in Cannes, since Mipcom has shifted its dates forward.
But the repositioning has not impacted the number of registered attendees which is up more than 12 compared with past Mia editions. More than 900 international industry execs are expected to make the trek, and counting, organizers said at a Rome press conference on Thursday.

Donna and Shula Productions leaders Dana Eden and Shula Spiegel have shepherded two seasons of the espionage drama series “Tehran” with Syrkin. The series debuted in June 2020 on Israel’s Kan 11 broadcast network. Apple TV+ quickly picked up the show, making it the first non-English series to premiere on the platform. “Tehran” bowed on Apple TV+ in 2021 and the streaming giant partnered with Kan 11 on the production of a second season that premiered in May.
The spy drama revolves around a female Mossad agent, played by Niv Sultan, on a dangerous assignment. The series, which features Glenn Close in Season 2, went on to win the International Emmy Award for drama series last year.

On the Jan. 24 episode of Glee, the members of New Directions act on their feelings when the girls ask the guys to the first annual Sadie Hawkins dance. However, the students of McKinley High are not the only ones acting on some newfound feelings.
Lima, Ohio
Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) convinces the school to put on the first annual Sadie Hawkins dance, where the girls ask the guys out. Inspired by this event, Finn (Cory Monteith) requests that the girls of New Directions sing a song of their choice to a guy in the group, thus asking them to the dance as well. It seems like a fun idea until Tina starts serenading Blaine (Darren Criss). Sadly (but definitely not shockingly), Blaine turns her down. Tina is floored.

"Glee" has a dance coming up for "Sadie Hawkins," airing on Thursday (Jan. 24). And where there's a dance, there's a lot of music. You can listen to all of the songs from the episode right here.
There are indeed a lot of songs being covered by the "Glee" kids as they get ready for a girls-ask-guys dance. Check them all out below.
First up is Vonda Shepard's "Tell Him," sung on "Glee" by Brittany (Heather Morris) and Marley (Melissa Benoist):
Based on what we know, these two ladies will be asking Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Jake (Jacob Artist), respectively.
Next up is Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz), singing "I Don't Know How to Love Him" from "Jesus Christ Superstar."
Considering that this episode features Tina's inexplicable and baseless crush on Blaine (Darren Criss), this is a very appropriate song choice. Also -- and this is huge -- Tina Got A Solo!

Previously on Glee, the rules of the Ohio Show Choir Sectionals Competition continued to be remarkably similar to the rules of Calvinball. New Directions broke this year's mandate of "no fainting and/or vomiting on stage" when Marley Rose did both, and so they were immediately disqualified. They broke up and came together again, as has been the bread and butter of every episode of this show since the pilot, lo those many tears and self-inflicted face punches ago. Rachel left the validating arms of one man to run headlong into the validating arms of another man. And Kurt crushed his impromptu Nyada audition without any props or tear-away slacks.

Glee has shaken things up for the New Directions now that they’ve been disqualified from sectionals thanks to everyone rushing off stage after the underfed Marley collapsed while performing. It’s a low blow and means the seniors of McKinley won’t get another chance to compete, but let’s forget them for a minute and focus on New York. In what appears to be a possibly brilliant storytelling shift, Nyada – where Kurt was just accepted to, finally – has a glee club of its own for us to follow instead of New Directions. And a handsome blonde, played by British actor Oliver Kieran-Jones, leads it. So what does this mean for the future of Glee?
Kieran-Jones’ casting was announced by Deadline, where we learned he would be sticking around in a recurring capacity, which could always lead to a series regular position later on in Glee’s life. Kurt...

Another "Firefly" reunion is happening: Gina Torres is joining Nathan Fillion on "Castle" at last!
According to TVLine, Torres is headed to the ABC drama as Samantha Foster, a "ruthless fashion mogul." On "Firefly," Torres played second-in-command to Fillion's Captain Mal Reynolds, and the reunion will likely be a treat for fans, since Torres wasn't on hand when the "Firefly" cast celebrated its 10th anniversary at Comic-Con this summer.
Torres, who has guest starred on "24" and "Alias," will appear in a February episode of the ABC series.

New York. New school. New guy?! Glee has just cast Oliver Kieran-Jones to play a potential love interest for Kurt (Chris Colfer), E! News has confirmed. After being accepted into Nyada in last night's episode of the Fox hit, Kurt will meet Kieran-Jones' character when he officially kicks off his freshman year in the spring. Jones' character (no name has been revealed) is the head of a glee club at Nyada. The British actor is relatively unknown, with a few episodes of Showtime's Episodes under his belt. While his Glee gig is currently a recurring role, there's a chance he could be bumped up to series regular if the show is picked up for a fifth season. Of course, Kurt recently...

Romance rarely survives when one half of a couple goes off to college. Kurt (Chris Colfer) and Blaine (Darren Criss) have already struggled with this problem in "Glee" season 4. Now, it may get worse for the Klaine relationship -- the show has cast Oliver Kieran-Jones as a Nyada student, a glee-club leader and a potential Kurt love interest.
Kieran-Jones will come onto "Glee" in the second half of season 4 as a recurring character, Deadline.com reports. With Kurt admitted to Nyada and looking for activities to fill his time, of course the school's glee club would be a top choice.
The new "Glee" actor, a British thespian not well-known in the Us, will appear intermittently throughout season 4 and has the potential to return as a regular in season 5 of the series. Kieran-Jones' only American role was as Andrew Lesley in four episodes of "Episodes," although the actor has appeared in...

Exclusive: Glee is bringing another new face to the mix. I’ve learned that the Fox dramedy, known for breaking fresh talent, has cast young British actor Oliver Kieran-Jones in a recurring role. (The show tends to cast newcomers as recurring and then promote those whose characters pop to regulars.) Kieran-Jones will play the leader of the glee club at Nyada, which new student Kurt Hummel (Chris Colfer) is interested in joining. (With the rigorous training at Nyada, do other college glee clubs even stand a chance?!) With the addition of a glee club, the New York storyline of the show will now more closely resemble the one in Ohio where New Directions is currently picking up the pieces after their shocking loss at sectionals. Kieran-Jones’ only previous U.S. TV credit was an arc on the Showtime/BBC comedy Episodes as assistant-turned-filmmaker Andrew. He has extensive stage credits in the UK,...
