Splashy and flashy (but not really trashy), Palm Royale on Apple TV+ fits easily into the ranks of high-gloss, high-concept, female-driven dramas that have enjoyed a Golden Age on premium streaming channels this past decade.
Recent series like Bad Sisters (also on Apple TV+) and Max's Big Little Lies drew a substantial audience with a combination of star-studded ensemble casts, heavy themes, and plots from best-selling domestic thrillers like those written by author Liane Moriarty.
Palm Royale ticks many of those boxes (it's based on the 2018 novel Mr. and Mrs. American Pie by Juliet McDaniel), but instead of sexual violence and trauma, it brings big laughs and a soapy jewel-box mystery to the female-centric limited series tablescape.
Palm Royale's opening credit sequence immediately places the series in time and taste by evoking Valley of The Dolls and James Bond with its graphic animation.

Starz’s Outlander prequel series has cast younger versions of four familiar characters.
Outlander: Blood of My Blood, as the offshoot is titled, will explore the lives and relationship of Jamie’s parents, Ellen MacKenzie (played by Pennyworth‘s Harriet Slater) and Brian Fraser (Condor’s Nest‘s Jamie Roy) and Claire’s parents, Julia Moriston (We Hunt Together‘s Hermione Corfield) and Henry Beauchamp (Treadstone‘s Jeremy Irvine). The Flash arrived on the CW as an antidote to the heavy, bleak world of Arrow. Our Scarlet Speedster was going to be a bright, upbeat superhero series and it was—at first. With each successive season, it grew bleaker and more chaotic as an overstuffed cast all demanded screentime and the writing staff never seemed to grasp that there were other villains than those connected to the Speed Force.
The 2022-23 television season brought us The Flash’s ninth and final season, providing a chance to give closure to the core characters. Tomorrow, Warner Home Entertainment releases The Flash: The Complete Ninth and Final Season.
Across the truncated season, everyone had a moment to shine, get their due, take a bow and move aside so the Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Nora West Allen (Candice Patton) center got to have the last word as they finally welcomed Nora to the preset.

This post contains spoilers for The Flash series finale.
The Flash has always been about hope, even when things look darkest. And for fans of the Arrowverse, it’s hard to imagine anything darker than the series finale. Not only is the official Arrowverse coming to a close with the end of The Flash, but even other superhero shows on the CW face an uncertain future, with Superman & Lois and Gotham Knights facing potential cancelation. And yet, during the final episode of The Flash, hope arrived in the form of a lightning bolt.
As expected, the final episode built to a showdown between Flash Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Cobalt Blue (Rick Cosnett). But the really exciting part of the show came in its final seconds, when Barry told a story to his and Iris’s (Candice Patton) newborn daughter Nora, herself destined to become super-speedster Xs (Jessica Parker Kennedy...

The following contains major spoilers for the series finale of The Flash.
The Flash Season 9 Episode 13
It’s the end of an era. After nine seasons, over 180 episodes, half a dozen major network crossovers, and countless rogues, The CW’s The Flash has completed its final run (and most likely wrapped up the current incarnation of the DC TV universe as we know it along with it). Though the show’s shortened final season certainly had its issues—the random introduction of a third Snow sister instead of just giving Caitlin an actual story, way too much Cecile, the awkwardness of the “Chellegra” romance—the four-part series finale “A New World” did attempt to bring the story of The Flash full circle, resurrecting Rick Cosnett’s Eddie Thawne and using him to bring balance to the Speed Force; showing us the birth of Barry and Iris’ daughter, Nora; and expanding...

Spoiler Alert! This post contains details from the Season 9 premiere of The Flash on The CW.
The Flash is nearly done fighting crime in Central City — but not before one final villain comes to town.
The CW series’ ninth and final season kicked off Wednesday night with the introduction of some new hurdles for Barry Allen and Team Flash to overcome. The episode begins with Barry and Iris (Candice Patton) getting stuck in a time loop, which exacerbates some of their fears about the passing of time and the lack of control they have over what may or may not happen to them. In order to get out of it, the couple must decide to take on life head on, together — rather than avoiding the problem and each other.
But just when things seem to be settling down again, Barry is faced with yet another bump in the road. Viewers will remember that,...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Season 8 Episode 6 of The Flash, “Impulsive Excessive Disorder.” If you don’t want to be spoiled, go back in time and make better choices.] Having dodged last winter’s five-episode “Armageddon,” The Flash resumed its eighth season tonight with an unexpected hour. Instead of focusing on Team Flash’s future, the episode showcased the Speedster scions from the future, Nora West-Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy) and Bart Allen (Jordan Fisher), who went into the past to correct some timeline temporal shifts they caused with their recent heroics. Like father, like son and daughter, right? We chatted with showrunner Eric Wallace about the decision to revisit the show’s history, how the episode’s return of Rick Cosnett‘s Season 1 favorite Eddie Thawne isn’t the last we’ll be seeing of him, and something Big that is coming down the pike. Although Legends of Tomorrow has yet to be renewed, co-showrunner Keto Shimizu wants to make one thing clear: This Wednesday’s season finale (The CW, 8/7c) is in no way meant to be a series ender.

But of course, the writing team must craft each finale well before it airs, so the show’s uncertain future is often just a fact of life in the TV biz. “Just because of the timing of everything, we had to just go forth and create a...

Superman & Lois reintroduced viewers to a very different version of Jenna Dewan’s Lucy Lane on Tuesday. You might even call it… a Bizarro version. But you probably wouldn’t.

The Flash is bringing back another familiar face.

If you watch The Flash online, you know Ronnie died after saving the city from a giant wormhole at the end of The Flash Season 1.
Amell played the Speed Force during The Flash Season 3, and has not been seen or heard from since.

Reuniting the pair would be fun for fans, but nothing is ever that simple in the Arrowverse.
News of Amell's return comes around six weeks after it was revealed the original star Rick Cosnett would be returning for an episode.
