After many accolades with nominations and awards from around the globe, “Beneath Us All” is moving from the festival circuit to VOD & physical media from Painted Creek Productions and Deskpop Entertainment.
Closing out with a fantastic win at The International Horror Hotel in Cleveland, Ohio ‘Beneath Us All’ was crowned Best Horror Fantasy Film, plus the film had nominations for Harley Wallen as best Director and Kaiti Wallen for best lead actress in a feature film.
“Beneath Us All” is from the same writer/director and producers from last years big hit “Ash and Bone”. It’s easy to see why the horror community is so excited with Harley Wallen directing and written by Bret Miller (same collaborators from Ash and Bone) and a pretty amazing ensemble with Sean Whalen (Twister/The People Under the Stairs), Maria Olsen (Percy & the Olympians/I Spit on Your Grave), Yan Birch (The People...

A few months ago, Deskpop Entertainment gave a digital and VOD release to director Harley Wallen’s “raw and violent” urban legend thriller Ash and Bone. Now Deadline reports that Deskpop has also picked up the worldwide distribution rights to Wallen’s vampire film Beneath Us All, which stars Sean Whalen and Yan Birch. Back in 1991, Whalen and Birch played Roach and The Stairmaster, respectively, in the Wes Craven film The People Under the Stairs (watch it Here). Deskpop hasn’t announced a release date for Beneath Us All yet, but they’re planning to send it out into the world sometime in “early 2023“. So they’ll need to move fast to reach that goal.
Scripted by Bret Miller, Beneath Us All centers on Julie, a foster child heading for her 18th birthday. She finds an item buried in the woods with something unspeakable inside.

"She's tough cooking. Not everyone can handle the ride." Fox Searchlight has debuted a full-length official trailer for Lucy in the Sky, the feature directorial debut of TV filmmaker Noah Hawley (the creator of "Fargo" and "Legion"). In 2007, after completing her mission in space, she drove from Houston to Orlando and confronted another woman. Exclusive: HBO is not renewing Alan Ball’s family drama Here and Now for a second season. The news comes 10 days after the series’ Season 1 finale.
“After careful consideration we have decided not to move forward with a second season of Here and Now,” HBO said in a statement to Deadline. “We thank Alan for his dedication to innovative storytelling, and we look forward to his next endeavor.”
Here and Now, which starred Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter, stemmed from Ball’s close relationship with the previous HBO regimes. It was a rare miss for the Oscar and Emmy winner, creator of HBO’s signature series True Blood and Six Feet Under and executive producer of Cinemax’s biggest hit Banshee. In addition to a lukewarm reception from critics, Here and Now also drew modest viewership for an HBO drama series, averaging 300,000-400,000 Live+same day viewers for the premiere telecast.

Through four episodes, it’s unclear what “Here and Now” is actually about. Fitting given its vague title, but confounding overall, the new HBO series pivots from a strong, focused pilot into an ongoing story that’s too sprawling for its own good. Allegorically, creator Alan Ball asks if the grand American experiment has failed; if the melting pot has cracked and chaos is all that remains. Practically, his series uses one family to represent the country and, by living their day-to-day lives, answer such lofty questions.
That’s an excellent canvas on which to paint, but “Here and Now” looks more like a messy Jackson Pollock knockoff than the refined post-modern portrait it tries to be. It’s colorful and easy to stare at, somewhat befuddled, but a connection has yet to be forged. Packed with too many individual plot lines, this is an interpersonal drama that needs room...

In case you’re wondering whether “Here and Now,” the upcoming HBO drama, addresses current national attitudes, one of the characters literally says at one point “Because the country’s a mess right now?” But rather than address that uncertainty through one perspective, the first trailer for the show presents two different families.
“Here and Now” features Tim Robbins and Holly Hunter as a couple who have adopted children from Vietnam, Colombia, and Liberia. Now that all the children are older, the show tracks how the family dynamic changes between parents and siblings, including the couple’s lone biological child. To complicate matters, one of the children’s therapist and his family find themselves connected in ways they hadn’t anticipated.

[Apologies for the 24 hour delay in this week's recap. There was this little event called the 86th Academy Awards that probably prevented even you from catching this episode on its first airing.] If there is one thing we've learned seven episodes into "Looking," it's that no one is going to stay happy for long and each of our three heroes may have serious self-destructive tendencies. After trying to alleviate Richie's doubts about their relationship following Dom's drama-filled 40th birthday picnic, Patrick's anxiety over his sister's wedding gets the best of him in the worst way possible. Granted, Richie bailing right after they cross the Golden Gate was a bit much, but could his own doubts about the affair be at play? Perhaps he's just as nervous about meeting Patrick's parents as Patrick is? In any event, in less than 35 minutes of air time we've gone from a couple in the midst of complete bliss to a couple on the cliff. Frankly, it just seems a bit much. But let's talk about the most important revelation in these scenes: It's Gone. Dear God It's Gone.

At first, "Looking in the Mirror" appears as though it's meant to focus on Dom's 40th birthday and subsequent party in Dolores Park, but the most compelling moments again center on Patrick (Jonathan Groff) and Richie (Raúl Castillo). The series has not been afraid to bluntly depict those uncomfortable moments when ethnicity and social class clash and, sadly, nothing that occurs during this half hour is out of the norm for the Gay community. There are two moments in particular that are clearly painful for Richie. First, Patrick introduces him to his boss Kevin (Russell Tovey) and Kevin's boyfriend Jon (Joseph Williamson) noting he cuts hair. Kevin seems surprised that's all he would do which prompts Patrick to add Richie eventually wants to get his own place (business). Richie is stunned because he's clearly never said that to Patrick. Granted, Patrick was put off guard having just discovered Jon has...

A young Colorado native had her first screenplay made into a full-length feature film released last week, and she did it with a crew full of women and before she had even graduated from college.
Tara Stone, 27, grew up in Monument, Colo. and was attending the University of Denver for a music performance degree when she decided it was time to start over, move to San Diego and pursue screenwriting.
"Everyone says San Diego is paradise. It's not true," said Stone, adding that she's glad to be spending some vacation time at home. "Colorado is paradise."
Her screenplay, "Red Line," recently screened at the San Diego Film Festival and won the U-t Award. It's also been selected for international distribution and is currently available to buy stateside on iTunes and Amazon.com, and will be available this fall at Walmart, Target and Netflix.

A man on horseback, which I knew was Gibbs (Mark Harmon) finds a Db on the ground. He's then held at gunpoint. 4 Days Earlier: Tony (Michael Weatherly) comments on the graduates' "alcohol-induced purple haze." On the Baltimore Pd, every graduate threw up, which he calls good times. Yes Tony if you say so. McGee (Sean Murray) calls him Hendrix. Ziva (Cote de Pablo) thinks he graduated too soon. Ziva is also about to graduate. McGee asks what she's done her degree in. Ziva says she's got her naturalization interview, it's "how an alien becomes a citizen." Tony: "I know what it is Et." Referring to it as due process. Tony saying Ziva graduated from "English as a tenth language" was funny. Gibbs mentions the eighth letter of the alphabet. Tony tells Gibbs it's 'G'. No, it's 'H' for homicide. How could he get that wrong. Vance (Rocky Carroll) tells them...
