2016 will see the third installment of the iHeartRadio Music Awards, and for the first time, “Dance Artist of the Year” will be a category. The new honor will complement iHeartRadio’s existing Dance Song of the Year, further proving electronic dance music is more than just a fad.
The nominees for the inaugural award are: Zedd, Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Major Lazer, and Skrillex and Diplo as Jack Ü. Seeing as these artists have all been at the forefront of dance music over the years, this list of nominees is no surprise. Sure, Diplo gets two chances to win as both Major Lazer and Jack Ü, but we’ll let that slide. Additionally, the nominations for Dance Artist of the Year largely reflect those responsible for Dance Song of the Year. Check out the other iHeartRadio dance categories below.

In recent years, the end-of-year Billboard Hot 100 has been filled with the typical slew of pop, hip-hop, and RnB, with the occasional electronically inspired tune making its way onto the list. But 2015 has been anything but typical. With nearly every genre picking up cues from the flourishing electronic scene, dance music has finally arrived en force on the year’s most influential chart.
More importantly, electronic dance music is consistently breaching the Top 20. Last year, it was DJ Snake’s “Turn Down For What” securing the #15 spot, but for 2015, Felix Jaehn’s remix of Omi’s “Cheerleader” placed #11.
Ever closer to penetrating the elusive Top 10, Major Lazer’s “Lean On” snagged the #16 spot, and Jack Ü took #19 with their Collaboration of the Year, “Where Are Ü Now.” Of course, there were plenty of other electronically spiced tracks gracing the Billboard Hot 100.

In the second piece of Armin news, the producer has announced that pre-orders are now available for the highly anticipated A State of Trance Year Mix, which will drop on December 18th. To put it simply, Armin Van Buuren‘s sixth studio album, Embrace, is just about the best you could expect from a full-length effort released by an artist at his level of success. Let’s call it what it is: When you achieve the level of status that Armin has, you’re not just an artist anymore. You’re a full fledged enterprise, and there’s an entire team working behind the scenes to make you as profitable a commodity as humanly possible. That point where industry meets artistry on such a massive scale seldom turns out an artist’s most sincere work, but Embrace still manages to be genuine at all the moments that count.
Of course, that’s not to say that much of the album takes every opportunity to challenge the status quo. A discerning trance fan of yesteryear would likely scoff at tracks like his Mr. Probz collaboration,...

For the next release on his forthcoming album, the legendary Armin Van Buuren has teamed up with DJ Mag’s famed Hardwell. As the second track on Embrace, “Off The Hook” is a brightly stricken tune that’s Dutch to the core.
Utilizing a cavernous kick and typical Dutch synth leads, the colossal duo has soldered components of trance and big room into one powerhouse release. A bit disjointed, the track builds and breaks into several disparate moments, though the trademark styles of both Hardwell and Armin are clearly displayed in the first and second drops, respectively.
The new song certainly gives the impression of being meant for the energy of a main stage rather than headphones, and couldn’t be farther from Armin’s work with Mr. Probz on “Another You.” While built on a solid foundation, “Off The Hook” is a good track, but doesn’t quite live...

As far as trance fans are concerned, any news of an upcoming Armin Van Buuren album is indeed a momentous occasion in and of itself. And today, the world-renowned DJ/producer and A State of Trance founder has announced the official release date of his long awaited, sixth studio album, Embrace, and it’s safe to assume that it will be all that his devoted fanbase talks about in the couple of months in between now and its release.
The first track made available from Embrace was “Another You,” a feelgood festival anthem featuring vocals by hip-hop crossover artist Mr. Probz. As far as the rest of the songs on Armin Van Buuren‘s Embrace are concerned, the album’s official release date is October 29th, so we’ll surely be seeing a couple more releases before the disc drops.
In the meantime, let us know if you’re looking...

The Shrine Auditorium was the place to be on Sunday night (March 29) as the 2015 iHeartRadio Music Awards brought out the top pop stars.
In addition to performances by Taylor Swift, Madonna, Rihanna, Iggy Azalea, Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson and Meghan Trainor, Jamie Foxx kept the crowd in stitches with his hilarious, albeit sometimes controversial, commentary.
Foxx joked, "Marvin Gaye had an incredible year. Marvin Gaye had the No. 1 song featuring Pharrell and Robin Thicke. He's making beats in heaven. He might be dead, but he ain't dead broke,” referencing the legal battle over “Blurred Lines.”
Meanwhile, Justin Timberlake was grateful for his Innovator Award and gave an inspiring acceptance speech- "Growing up in school, no one ever called me anything close to an innovator, they called me different, they called me weird, they called me a couple of other words I can't say on TV. So thankfully my mother taught...

Spinnin’ Records is hugely influential in the Edm scene, so it’s always interesting to see what the record label is cooking up. The Netherlands-based company had an incredible year in 2014, giving us tracks like “Revolution,” “Samurai (Go Hard),” “Raveology,” “We Like To Party,” “Turn Up The Speakers,” “Last All Night (Koala),” and so many more.
Now, the label is giving us a look at what their future holds with an epic 2015 mix that shows off a whole bunch of new, unreleased music.
