Cloud gaming service OnLive is to be taken offline at the end of this month, the company has confirmed.
Due to shut its doors for the final time on April 30, it’s understood that users can still access the service and play games right up until that date, with OnLive also stating that anyone who started a subscription on or after March 20 will be entitled to a full refund.
As the company begins to slowly cut production, Japanese giant Sony has moved in to acquire the remainder of OnLive’s cloud patents, a decision that will naturally bolster the publisher’s presence in the world of online streaming following its acquisition of Gakai — later to be turned into PlayStation Now — two years ago. In a statement, Sony’s Philip Rosenberg had the following to say about today’s announcement.

Exclusive: Bradley Cooper may have been snubbed by the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild, but Broadway and the West End love him. When his lauded performance as John Merrick, Aka the Elephant Man, completes its limited run at the Booth Theatre on February 22, Cooper and the rest of the show’s accomplished cast will get a few weeks off before reuniting for a 12-week run in London that will begin, two production sources tell me, in April.
The producers—including both the Shubert and Nederlander theater-owning organizations, along with (take a deep breath) Terry Allen Kramer, Catherine Adler, Roger Berlind, Caiola Productions, Patrick Catullo, Larry Hirschhorn, Jeffrey Finn Productions, Van Kaplan, Edward M. Kaufmann, Hal Luftig, Arielle Tepper Madover, Peter May, Stephanie P. McClelland, Douglas Smith, Jonathan M. Tisch and Scott & Brian Zeilinger—haven’t closed a deal on a West End house as yet, but they’re about to.

Bradley Cooper‘s “The Elephant Man” on Broadway broke its own box office record — again — and recouped capitalization costs after just six-and-a-half weeks of performances.
The cap costs totaled $3.1 million, which were officially recouped following the week of Dec. 21. The following week, the production broke its own house box office record, grossing $1,058,547. It was the first show at the Booth Theatre to rake in more than $1 million in a week.
Cooper concurrently has a limited-release film hit with “American Sniper.”

Sony, in partnership with DirecTV, said today that the satellite TV provider's popular NFL Sunday Ticket service will be available for live streaming on PlayStation 3 consoles. The package allows viewers to watch out-of-market games and comes free with a DirecTV subscription. The fee for existing subscribers to add Sunday Ticket on their console will be an additional $50 at the start of the season. But PlayStation 3 users who want the NFL package but don't have DirecTV will have to shell out $339.95. The package will feature up to 14 games a week in high-def and include DirecTV's Red Zone Channel, which provides scoring highlights from around the NFL. "We know that PlayStation fans are huge sports enthusiasts, so adding NFL Sunday Ticket is the perfect complement to the PS3’s rapidly growing lineup of sports entertainment," Philip Rosenberg, sr. vp of business development said on the PlayStation blog.
