If you thought the shoe fashion fetish genre died with Kinky Boots, you were wrong. Because here comes Secretary writer/director Steven Shainberg with The Big Shoe, and he’s got Kristen Stewart and Elizabeth Banks all set to join the cast.Though Joaquin Phoenix was attached at one point, Jim Sturgess is now starring in the film, which Shainberg wrote with Mickey Birnbaum. The plot finds Sturgess as a gifted (and foot fetishising) shoe designer who wants to keep his work pure, but who faces pressure from his overbearing family to turn his carefully crafted creations into mass-market products. In order to tempt him on, his mother (Susan Sarandon, if she signs) hires psychotherapist Mary Kay (Banks) and sexy muse Delphi (Stewart) in the hopes that it’ll get his creative, er, juices, flowing. We’d expect plenty of dark comedy and erotic overtones from the man who made Secretary and Fur,...

For Kristen Stewart, there's definitely life after "Twilight" ... and it's hot!
Deadline reports that K.Stew will be getting kinky with it as she's signed on to star in "The Big Shoe," a fetish film that's sure to get one half of the audience all hot and bothered whilst totally creeping out the other.
"The Big Shoe" stars Jim Sturgess as a talented shoe designer who breaks ties with a family that wants to turn his work into mass-produced knock-offs (cue this song). In an attempt to lure him back into the fold, the family hires a psychotherapist named Mary Kay (Elizabeth Banks) and a muse named Delphi (K.Stew), and, well ... things will probably get very interesting from there.
"The Big Shoe" is set to be directed by Steven Shainberg, who co-wrote the script with Mickey Birnbaum. Shainberg is certainly no stranger to the world of sexy subversion, having written the amazing "Secretary,...

It’s been seven years since Steven Shainberg last directed a film, the mostly forgotten Nicole Kidman vehicle "Fur," but it appears from a new press release that he has finally locked down his next project.
“The Big Shoe” finds Shainberg (“Secretary”) in familiar territory as the film is described as “a sexy comedic drama” that will follow Jim Sturgess (“Across The Universe,” “One Day”) as a gifted shoe designer, Nate, who is forced to break free from a family who want to cheapen his art for their own commercial gain. Susan Sarandon, who’s been getting busy lately, co-stars as his overbearing mother who tries to lure him back to work by hiring a psychotherapist and a “muse.” The project was linked to Joaquin Phoenix and Mia Wasikowska a couple of years back, and this feels like a little bit of a downgrade, at least when it comes to the leading man.

AngelWorld only came into our field of vision this past weekend, but they’re jumping right out of the gate, hitting the ground running, striking the iron while it’s hot… you get the idea. In this economy — brief digression: a favorite saying of those who don’t understand how “this economy” works — take it as an encouraging sign for independent film.
First, Deadline reports that they’ve corralled Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jessica Biel, and Chloe Moretz for The Devil and the Deep Blue Sea (the latter part of that title hasn’t been used enough), a drama written by Bill Purple & Robbie Pickering — the former will be directing — and with music provided by Justin Timberlake, who’s also acting as a music supervisor.
Their script centers on Henry (Morgan), a “grieving widower” who finds solace and hope by helping a “wisecracking young girl (Moretz) fulfill her dream of building...

Already co-starring in the On the Road, Viggo Mortensen and Amy Adams are in early talks to share the screen again this time in The Big Shoe. No word on what roles are currently available and how accurate this info is, but Steven Shainberg will be directing the dramedy (which he co-wrote with Mickey Birnbaum) about a shoe designer with a foot fetish. Already cast to star is Joaquin Phoenix, who is pegged to play the designer and also attached we find Mia Wasikowska whose toes will most likely end up being the object of this kooky designers’ affection. Gist: The story centers on a male shoe designer, who happens to have a career-crippling foot fetish. Worth Noting: It seems Shainberg has a fetish for fetishes. His indie film Secretary, a sadomasochistic love story between a lawyer and his new typist, stole our hearts back in 2002. The film won several...

David Guion and Michael Handelman penned the screenplay, based on an original draft by Mickey Birnbaum. Jay Roach is directing, with a June 11 start date planned.
