- Daniel Gilchrist began his love of acting in high school where his initial interests were in production and writing. Upon graduating, he began working and volunteering for local theatre productions in his hometown of Topeka, Kansas. His first starring role was as The Creature in Topeka Civic Theatre and Academy's production of Frankenstein. He went on to have featured roles in Macbeth, Scrooge, Arsenic and Old Lace, The Tempest, The Addams Family, and To Kill a Mockingbird. He graduated from Washburn University in 2012 with a Bachelor's in Theatre.
Daniel transitioned from theatre to film as the titular character in Beast of the Water. He also played Demby, a sideshow giant, in the acclaimed Chained for Life. In Omniboat, he portrayed a main/dolphin creature voiced by Robert Redford.
Daniel attributes his love of the theatre to his older brother, Brendan Gilchrist, who died in 2007.- IMDb Mini Biography By: A. Gilchrist, updated March 2017 - Born and raised in Topeka KS the youngest of three children, Daniel's mother taught him the appreciation and enjoyment of reading by reading storybooks together. He realized his true passion was acting when he got cast in Topeka Civic Theatre's production of Frankenstein. Since then he has appeared in such productions as Addams Family, Macbeth, the Tempest and To Kill A Mockingbird to name a few. He earned his BA in theater at his hometown university Washburn.
In 2016 he got cast in his first movie role as a creature suit actor in the action horror movie Beast of the Water. Later he went on to play another suit creature as a half man half dolphin deity in the experimental film Omniboat. He also was a part of the ensemble in the critical acclaimed art film Chained for Life. He also assumed the role of the Gravedigger in the independent horror film Tunnel Visions.
He will be portraying the assassin slash cult leader in the short horror film Papa Bait. He has also signed on to appear in the Kiamichi Project, a story involving a hunt for the elusive Bigfoot.
He co-wrote a screenplay with friend Bryan Kluger, a dark fantasy period piece entitled Chaverut, Hebrew for Friendship. He wrote a couple of episodic independent scripts he hopes to film locally.
