- Superman and Star Wars had a huge effect on my childhood and made me immediately realise I wanted to work in comics and films when I was older.
- I know my stuff probably will be bought as a film and that's a lovely position to be in, but I see the film side as just a hobby, not the real job. A film is something that's done with 300 other people. The comic is just me and the artist. It's more personal.
- I see no shame in writing Captain America or Wolverine. They're bloody awesome.
- I spent more time writing proposals than scripts in my twenties. Knocks and rejection are your Jedi training as a freelance writer.
- I didn't get into comics to get out of it. This was never a stepping stone to movies for me. Comics is my day-job and movies are a nice little extra. 100 million dollar ads for my books.
