ICM Partners has expanded their media rights and publications divisions and promoted Rich Green to head media rights, the company announced Wednesday. The announced expansion also includes the promotion of Lia Chan, Hillary Jacobson, Heather Karpas, and Zoe Sandler to agent, with Will Watkins joining the media rights division from the firm’s Motion Picture Literary Department. ICM Partners has promoted coordinators Andrew Murphy and Will Watkins to agent in the motion picture literary department, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Murphy began his ICM career in 2013 as assistant to Doug MacLaren, who heads the department with Harley Copen. Watkins joined a year later. Both young men were agent trainees before their elevations to coordinator.

Maker Studios' sale to Disney made some people very rich, but at least one of the company's former employees does not believe he has been fairly compensated. Will Watkins, who came to Maker Studios early on and helped build the company into a prosperous YouTube network, has launched a suit in which he claims to be owed up to $19 million in stock and deferred payment. Watkins' lawsuit, as reported by TheWrap, alleges that he agreed to take most of his payment in company stock when he joined Maker during its 2009 formation. It then claims that a change in Maker's policy caused it to begin treating his compensation as a loan of sorts. In 2013, when Watkins expressed interest in cashing out his shares, “[Ex-Maker CEO Danny] Zappin and [Maker co-founder Ben] Donovan's mood visibly shifted. Disney plans to close a $500 to $950 million acquisition of Maker Studios, but one of the old executives and a handful of founders of the self-proclaimed “talent first, technology-driven media company” and YouTube multi-channel network refuse to just let it go. Ex-Maker Studios CEO Danny Zappin, along with other Maker founders Scott Katz, Derek Jones, and Will Watkins applied for a temporary restraining order in advance of an injunctive motion in the Superior Court for the State of California in Los Angeles on April 9, 2014. Zappin, his co-plaintiffs, and his counsel hope the order will at least delay (and at most completely stop) a vote by Maker Studios shareholders on whether or not to approve the Disney acquisition. That vote is currently scheduled for April 15, 2014. Zappin was CEO of Maker Studios until he stepped down from the position in May 2013.
