MollywoodThe film is directed by Lijin Jose who made movies like 'Friday' and 'Law Point' and is known for his documentary on Kg George.Tnm StaffAt the first glance, it looks like the picture of dying Jesus on the lap of Mother Mary, a portrayal modelled after Renaissance artist Michelangelo’s famous work Pieta. But on closer inspection, the face of the injured man on the lap becomes clearer and it is not from the painting. But the mother figure still looks sculpted. This is the first look poster of director Lijin Jose's new film Chera that he shared on his Facebook page on Saturday. The dark poster reveals that Nimisha Sajayan and Roshan Mathew will be playing the lead roles in the film. Perhaps the mention of Roshan makes the Jesus in the picture look like him – a head of thick hair, a bearded face and a thin body.

Review The film opens to 74-year-old Kg George intensely watching a Federico Fellini film.Neelima MenonVeethi.comThirty minutes into the narrative we are introduced to Selma George, Kg George’s wife. She sits next to her husband and calmly recounts their 44 odd years of married life with this line— “He is a great artist but not a great family man. He has no sentiments for his family. Marriage meant only sex and good food for him. But he is undoubtedly one of the greatest filmmakers in the country.” George listens to her with an indulgent awkward smile and almost feebly cuts in— “Selma, that’s what I am.” That was perhaps the most stunningly revelatory part of that 125-minute documentary. However much of a cruel paradox that sounds, considering the repertoire of brilliantly nuanced female characters he has created on screen, anyone who has explored his filmography will be quick...

Short filmThe film was made for the India Film Project 50-hour-challenge.CrisIn all of the six minutes that the film unfolds, there is not a single dialogue. That’s not the novel part. It is that you as a viewer hardly notice this silence. There is every chance that you are either like the man in the film or know someone like him, glued to a smartphone that he cannot keep away for a bath or even to have a sip of tea. Atmanirbhar, a Malayalam short made for the India Film Project (IFP) 50-hour-challenge, can be a piece of your everyday life, relatable on different levels. Archana Vasudev, who is behind the concept and script, has also played one of the two characters in the film. The other main character is played by filmmaker Lijin Jose, who produced and directed the film. The woman of the house opens the...
