What’s your favourite action movie? Die Hard? Predator? The Hunt for Red October? John McTiernan, their director, is unarguably a true master of Western action cinema, and this writer is a huge fan of his work. Sure, there’s been a few missteps, your Last Action Heroes and your Rollerballs, but he’s an incredibly talented filmmaker beloved the world over.

The actress not only fired all of her security guards that were close to Tom, but also fired his daughter Bella from her clothing line two months prior. Two months? She also changed her cell phone and e-mail. Unless Tom was extremely busy to notice, how could he not realize that a divorce was up ahead?
Here's a step-by-step look at what happened right after Katie signed the papers.

Katie Holmes paid a visit Friday to the high-powered New York law firm representing her in the divorce from Tom Cruise. Casually dressed in white jeans and a yellow top, the actress, 33, arrived with four bodyguards in a Mercedes with black-tinted windows about 11:30 a.m. at the midtown Manhattan building housing the offices of Aronson, Mayefsky and Sloan. Daughter Suri, 6, was not with her, observers say. People has learned that for the past few days, lawyers for Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes have been working to negotiate an agreement between the two stars to avoid a brutal public divorce battle.

"Dennis is a gentleman and exceptionally bright," says L.A. family law attorney Robert Brandt. "His ultimate goal is to settle cases,...

So, we weren’t the only ones thrown for a complete loop by Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes‘ divorce announcement on Friday, right? That kind of blew the roof off … everything. Up till Friday, we learned that Katie was the one filing for divorce (no surprise there) in New York, and wanted sole custody of their daughter, Suri. Tom was said to be completely “blindsided” — no surprise there either. But since Friday, as expected, there have been a number of rumors and news stories doing the rounds about the reason for the split. We’ve rounded them up for you, so you can stay in the loop about what the hell is going on with those two.
• Katie may have messed things up for Tom by filing for divorce in New York, according to sources. Apparently, this could really create a massive hassle for Tom, due to tax reasons — rates are super high in NYC.

L.A. Dodgers Wife: Frank McCourt Committed Fraud
Fired Los Angeles Dodgers CEO Jamie McCourt claims Frank McCourt and his lawyer, Lawrence Silverstein, fraudulently altered documents in an effort to strip her of the ownership of the team ... this according to new court documents obtained by TMZ.
Frank claims in 2004, when they bought the Dodgers, Jamie signed over complete ownership of the team to him. In their bitter divorce case, Frank has submitted an agreement signed by Jamie, which includes an "Exhibit" that gives him complete ownership of the Dodgers.
But in new legal papers filed today by Dennis Wasser, Jamie's lawyer ... Wasser claims there was another "Exhibit" that was the final word on ownership of the Dodgers, which preserved Jamie's rights to the team.
Wasser now says, after the document was signed, Frank and his lawyer pulled a switcheroo, by substituting the old "Exhibit" for the new one -- thereby cutting Jamie out.

Larry and Shawn King -- May Come Down to Money
Larry King and wife Shawn King have not withdrawn their divorce petitions ... and we're told the tipping point is money.
People familiar with the situation tell us nothing is going to happen while Shawn recovers from what may have been a suicide attempt. But before that crisis, we're told one of Larry's lawyers presented a proposal to Shawn's lawyer to undo an agreement he signed several years ago ... in which he signed over all 3 of their houses to her.
Larry signed the document after Shawn accused him of sleeping with her sister.
And, we're told, one of Larry's lawyers -- not Dennis Wasser -- submitted a proposal for a new division of property that did not sit well with Shawn.
As one source says, "It will come down to striking a deal on the money issues."

Larry King -- Breakfast and a Lawyer
Sources tell TMZ Larry King signed a legal document that put his fortune on the line based on a strategic decision -- his lawyer's office was within walking distance of his favorite breakfast deli.
TMZ broke the story ... Larry inked a post-nup more than two years ago, not only signing over three houses to wife Shawn Southwick, but declaring that his entire fortune -- about $144 million -- was community property (50/50).
Larry's famed divorce lawyer Dennis Wasser tells TMZ the agreement was the result of undue influence, because Shawn strong-armed Larry into getting advice from her powerhouse divorce lawyer Joe Mannis. But Mannis says there was no strong-arming, and that all he did was give Larry the names of three lawyers who would give him advice on signing the document. Larry King and his wife, Shawn Southwick King, are taking a break ... from pressing ahead with their divorce petitions.
The couple, whose divorce proceedings have barely begun -- he filed to end their 12 1/2-year marriage last week, and she followed suit shortly thereafter -- say they're going to try to hug it out before they go full steam ahead into dissolving their union. And by "hug it out," we mean "continue to attend counseling."
"Larry and Shawn met with the counselor [Monday]. It was decided that there will be no divorce activity for two weeks as several issues need to be discussed and resolved," Larry's attorney, Dennis Wasser, tells TMZ.
Presumably that whole you-gave-my-sister-a-diamond-necklace-what-was-that-for issue is near the top of the list.
Despite their agreement to go into counseling, though, neither Larry nor Shawn has called off the legal dogs completely just yet. Their divorce petitions are still on file with the L.

A lawyer for Larry King has dismissed speculation the revered U.S. newsman is attempting to salvage his relationship with estranged wife Shawn Southwick - insisting their divorce is still proceeding.
The 76 year old and his country singer wife both filed divorce papers earlier this week (begs12Apr10) citing irreconcilable differences for the break down of their 13-year marriage.
The news came amid allegations Southwick had accused her sister, Shannon Engemann, of embarking on an affair with King.
The former couple attended their son's baseball match in Beverly Hills, California on Thursday, hugging and chatting throughout the game - prompting speculation they are working through their issues.
Editors at TMZ.com subsequently claimed King and Southwick, the newsman's seventh wife, are keen to rebuild their union and had arranged to meet with a marriage counsellor.
But King's lawyer insists the divorce is still going ahead as planned, and the couple is heading to therapy sessions for the sake of their two sons, 11-year-old Chance and nine-year-old Cannon.
Dennis Wasser tells People.com, "My most current information is that the divorce is proceeding. People either go to reconciliation sessions to save their marriage or just to make sure their actions are in the best interest of the children. If I were a betting man, it's for the latter."
In his divorce petition, King is seeking joint custody of the kids, while his wife is asking for primary physical custody of the children, as well as spousal and child support.

Between photos of Larry King and his estranged wife looking happy together and a report that they're in couple's counseling, could they be reconsidering their divorce? Not as far as King's lawyer knows. "My most current information is that the divorce is proceeding," attorney Dennis Wasser tells People. The legendary CNN talk show host, 76, and his seventh wife, Shawn Southwick King, 50, each filed separately for divorce Wednesday after 12 ½ years of marriage.
