Exclusive: Top Gun: Maverick and Whiplash star Miles Teller is in talks to join Lionsgate and Universal Pictures International’s Antoine Fuqua-directed Michael.
Sources tell us that there’s no deal yet for Teller. The movie is currently shooing ahead of an April 18, 2025 theatrical release.
Teller, we hear, would play an attorney in the Michael Jackson biopic. Exactly which of Jackson’s attorneys, we will see. The late Howard Weitzman was known for defending Jackson and his estate, in particular against creditor claims and accusations of pedophilia. Then there was Mark Geragos, who assisted Jackson in the early stages of 2005’s People vs. Jackson molestation case, before getting replaced by Thomas Mesereau.

On the morning of April 25, testimony began in the second rape trial of That ’70s Show actor Danny Masterson after an initial trial ended last November in a hung jury and mistrial.
The first witness on the stand was one of Masterson’s alleged victims, Jane Doe 3, who had been in a relationship with Masterson between 1996 and 2002.
Deputy Da Reinhold Mueller asked her how she was feeling.
“Not great,” she said.
When Mueller asked what might be causing her concern about testifying, she said, “I’m scared.”

Danny Masterson, former star of the long-running sitcom “That ’70s Show”, is about to face three women in court who say he raped them two decades ago at a trial whose key figures are all current or former members of the Church of Scientology.
Opening statements could begin as early as Tuesday in the Los Angeles trial of the 46-year-old Masterson, and while a judge has expressed her determination not to have the church become the center of the proceedings, it will inevitably loom large.
Masterson is charged with raping the women between 2001 and 2003 in his home, which functioned as a social hub when he was at the height of his fame. Masterson has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
One of the women had been Masterson’s longtime girlfriend. Another was a longtime friend, and the third a newer acquaintance.

It's not looking good for Danny Masterson.
On Friday, a judge ordered the former That '70s Show actor to stand charges on three counts of rape by force or fear.
Masterson's attorney, Thomas Mesereau, had hoped to circumvent charges by asserting that Masterson did have sex with his three accusers, but it was consensual.
Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo made her judgment after a four-day preliminary hearing.
It was a dramatic and emotional four days for the three women who have accused Masterson of rape between the years 2001 and 2003.

Masterson, a prominent Scientologist, has denied all charges.

A Los Angeles County judge ruled on Friday that Danny Masterson must stand trial on the three rape charges brought against him last June.
The judge, Charlaine F. Olmedo of the Los Angeles County Superior Court, heard from the former “That ’70s Show” actor’s three accusers and ruled that their testimony was credible for the purposes of moving ahead to trial, according to the Associated Press.
In June, the Los Angeles District Attorney’s office charged Masterson with three counts of forcible rape stemming from accusations of three incidents in 2001 and 2003 with three different women. Masterson entered a not guilty plea at a hearing in January.
Masterson is accused of raping a 23-year-old woman between January and December 2001, a 28-year-old woman in April 2003 and a 23-year-old woman between October and December 2003. If convicted, Masterson faces a maximum sentence of 45 years to life in prison.

A judge on Friday ordered “That ’70s Show” actor Danny Masterson to stand trial on charges that he raped three women nearly 20 years ago.
Masterson faces up to 45 years to life in prison if convicted on all three charges. Each of the three women testified at a preliminary hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court, which began on Tuesday.
Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo ruled that prosecutors had offered enough evidence for the case to go to trial, a court spokesperson confirmed. Masterson is due back in court for an arraignment on June 7.
The Associated Press reported that one of the women, identified as Jen B., told the court that Masterson had carried her upstairs after she became woozy at his house in April 2003. Updated, 12:30 Pm: After several delays and postponements, Danny Masterson on Wednesday finally entered a plea to multiple rape charges, sort of.
That ’70s Show actor was not actually in court in downtown Los Angeles this morning for the arraignment hearing. However, his main defense lawyer Tom Mesereau said his client was pleading not guilty to claims that he sexually assaulted three women in the early years of the last decade.
First charged in June last year and out on bail of $3.3 million, Masterson or at least his case will be back in Los Angeles Superior Court in the early spring, the L.A. County D.A.’s office said after the hearing had concluded.

A Los Angeles judge ruled on Monday that the rape case against actor Danny Masterson can go forward, rejecting a defense argument that the allegations are too old to be prosecuted.
Masterson, 44, is accused of raping three women at his home between 2001 and 2003. The former “That ’70s Show” actor could face 45 years to life in prison if convicted on all charges.
He remains free on $3.3 million bail, and did not attend Monday’s hearing. He has yet to enter a plea in the case. His arraignment was rescheduled to Nov. 2.
Masterson’s attorneys, Thomas Mesereau and Sharon Appelbaum, argued that the case should be thrown out because the alleged rapes occurred outside the statute of limitations.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office charged Masterson under the state’s “one strike” sex offense law, which provides for potential life sentences for certain sex offenses, including allegations involving multiple victims.

Bill Cosby Retrial: No Verdict Reached, Jury to Reconvene ThursdayNORRISTOWN, Pa. – The jury in the sexual assault retrial of Bill Cosby spent more than eight hours deliberating the charges against the entertainer on Wednesday – but broke for the night without reaching a verdict in the first celebrity trial to unfold in the heated atmosphere of the #MeToo movement.

Norristown, Pa. – Jury deliberations began Wednesday in the sexual assault retrial of Bill Cosby, the first major celebrity to face a jury in the heated atmosphere of the #MeToo movement.
Cosby, now 80, is charged with drugging and molesting Andrea Constand, who was operations manager of the women’s basketball team at Temple University, at his home outside Philadelphia back in January 2004.
The jury began considering the case on the 13th day of the retrial after Montgomery County Court Judge Steven T. O’Neill instructed the panel, along with six alternates, on the law.
Andrew Wyatt, Cosby’s publicist, said that Cosby is relaxed and confident that the jury will find him not guilty of all charges. “It’s easy to rest and relax and not worry when you know you haven’t done anything wrong,” said Wyatt.

Norristown, Pa. — A defense lawyer for Bill Cosby told jurors in his sexual assault retrial Tuesday that they should reject the “flimsy, silly, ridiculous” case against the entertainer and find him not guilty of all charges.
Defense lawyer Thomas Mesereau directly addressed the #MeToo movement — the cultural awareness that has resulted from the many accusations of sexual assault leveled against rich and powerful men over the last year — and asked the jury to “stand up against the rumor, gossip and shallowness” of that heated atmosphere.
“That’s what our country is filled with at this moment,” Mesereau said in a 70-minute summation delivered in a hushed courtroom here in suburban Philadelphia.
Mesereau urged jurors to reject the testimony of Andrea Constand, who alleges that she was drugged and molested by Cosby at his home outside Philadelphia in January 2004.
“You’re dealing with a pathological liar, member of the jury,” he said.

Norristown, Pa. – The defense lawyer for Bill Cosby wrapped up his cross-examination Monday of the woman at the center of the sexual assault case against the veteran entertainer after challenging her credibility and questioning whether she had violated the terms of her $3.38 million civil settlement with Cosby.
The believability of the woman, Andrea Constand, is key to the prosecution’s case, and defense attorney Thomas Mesereau sought, through a morning of careful cross-examination, to piece together an unflattering narrative of Constand as someone who reaped the rewards of a big financial settlement and then still set out to make sure he was prosecuted.
He pointed to a provision of that settlement agreement, which stated that she would not initiate any criminal complaint against the entertainer, and pointedly asked her whether she abided by that.

Norristown, Pa. — The woman at the heart of the criminal case against Bill Cosby took the stand on Friday morning in the sexual assault retrial of the veteran entertainer, and testified that she felt humiliated, shocked, and “really confused” after he assaulted her at his home outside Philadelphia in early 2004.

Supermodel Janice Dickinson testified Thursday at the Bill Cosby’s sexual assault retrial on Tuesday, telling the court that she “wanted to punch him in the face” when she confronted him after, she claims, he raped her in Lake Tahoe in 1982.
Dickinson testified that Cosby invited her to meet him in Lake Tahoe to discuss her career and gave her a little round, blue pill that she was told would help with the menstrual cramps she was experiencing. Shortly after taking the pill, Dickinson testified, she became woozy. Later, Dickinson said, Cosby opened his robe and got on top of her.
Saying she felt motionless and immobile at the time, Dickinson remembered thinking that she didn’t consent to what was occurring.

Dickinson remained resolute while being cross-examined by Cosby defense attorney Thomas Mesereau. Questioning Dickinson about the discrepancy between her testimony and her account of meeting Cosby in her 2002 memoir, “No Lifeguard on Duty,” Mesereau suggested that Dickinson lied to get a paycheck.
“I’m not a liar, sir. Don’t call me a liar,” Dickinson replied.
While her book ultimately did not contain an account of the alleged rape, Dickinson said, “I told my publisher and I told my ghostwriter exactly what happened to me in Tahoe. They weren’t there and you weren’t there and I am under oath.”

Now Sofia Coppola is bringing the story of the so-called “Bling Ring” to the big screen with a cast full of big names like Emma Watson, Taissa Farmiga (sister of Vera), and reportedly Kirsten Dunst. The catch? Her film might hurt the Lapd’s real-life case against these young criminals.
The testimony of Detective Brett Goodkin, who played a pivotal role in bringing down the Bling Ring, will likely be crucial during the trials of Courtney Ames,...

Los Angeles — The private world of Michael Jackson, fiercely shielded by the superstar in life, was exposed in the trial of Dr. Conrad Murray. But rather than suffering harm from revelations of drug use, experts say Jackson's legacy and posthumous earning power will survive any damage done and could actually grow after he was portrayed as a victim of a money-hungry doctor.
Jackson died before he could launch a series of highly anticipated comeback concerts in London as he tried to regain the towering status he enjoyed when he released the "Thriller" album in 1983.
But his death did breathe new life into record sales and boosted other projects to generate hundreds of millions of dollars for his estate, even as his already tarnished personal life took another hit by revelations about his drug use.

Michael Jackson: The Life of an Icon is a behind the scenes account of the star’s life which offers a true portrayal of his journey through the use of intimate stories, rare footage and personal recounts from those who knew him best.
Earlier this week I was given the amazing opportunity to interview Michael Jackson’s brother Tito, eldest sister Rebbie, his close childhood friend David Gest as well as the lawyers who successfully acquitted Michael in the 2005 trial, Thomas Mesereau and Susan Yu.
The final interview of the morning was with producer and childhood friend of Michael Jackson- David Gest who spoke about the reason behind the production of the documentary, his relationship with Michael growing up, how drugs affected the icons personality and his personal views on the fifty “This is It” concerts Michael had been contracted to perform.

The Life of an Icon has many poignant moments, but film-maker seems preoccupied with proving his friend was 100% straight
At times it's hard to know who the icon is in The Life of an Icon – Michael Jackson or David Gest, the impresario famously married to Liza Minnelli for almost a year and fourth runner-up in I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here 2006.
This is a film, featuring "never-before-seen family photography", produced by David Gest for David Gest Productions, starring David Gest. If one thing emerges from the documentary it's that Jackson could not have had a better friend in his times of need.
It's Gest who's there to support him as a child prodigy, Gest who advises him against more plastic surgery after the first few ops, Gest who gets the Jacksons back together for a glory tour when Michael is off his box and an embarrassment to all,...

We’ve just received information that the world premiere of the brand new Michael Jackson biopic, is set to take place right in here in London. To celebrate, we’ve been given this brand new clip from the movie which is introduced by legendary music Producer and friend to the Jackson family, David Gest.
Following the announcement, we get to see a new clip from the movie entitled He Went to a New Level which I’ve placed in the video embedded below. When you see the clip you just scratch the surface of the impact that he made on the world. I was astonished at some of the clips seeing just a few of the people he met.
I’ve also placed the press release that we have been sent with full details on the World Premiere which is set to take place on November 2nd 2011 at the Empire Leicester Square.

hollywoodnews.com: According to Parade Magazine’s recent celebrity salary expose, 2010 earnings for Michael Jackson’s estate totaled an unfathomable $275M. Though the figure is impressive, even more impressive are the mountains of debt the pop icon left behind.
At the time of Jackson’s death, the net indebtedness of his estate was estimated at north of $300M. Per the Wall Street Journal, Jackson’s mother Katherine’s home, was in jeopardy of being lost if a loan worth tens of millions of dollars was not repaid to the lender (in this case, a hedge fund). Jackson had also amassed a long list of smaller, but significant bills, such as $341,000 still owed to Thomas Mesereau, the lawyer who helped him escape conviction for molestation.
Of the $275M in 2010 earnings, an estimated $60M was collected for rights to distribute the documentary “This is It”; $11M came from Beatles...

The mega-lawyer who successfully defended Michael Jackson in his molestation case is coming out swinging at Dr. Murray 's defense team -- blaming Mj's death squarely on Murray because the singer was "not suicidal." Thomas Mesereau went on MSNBC today -- and stated, "The defense lawyers have to do something and what they're gonna try and do is reflect attention away from their client and onto Michael Jackson." He adds, "The reality is Michael Jackson was not suicidal,...

HollywoodNews.com: Michael Jackson’s accused killer, Dr. Conrad Murray, may not be convicted so easily.
That’s what Jackson’s former defense lawyer, Thomas Mesereau, suggests in an interview that’s buried in a new book.
The interview is with, of all people, Judge Larry Seidlin, the “crying judge” who made a fool of himself when he presided over the Anna Nicole Smith inquest in Florida. Not satisfied with his two minutes of fame, Seidlin has “published” a “book” called “The Killing of Anna Nicole Smith.”
I’ll skip Seidlin’s sad efforts to get Mesereau to praise him. Certainly, Mesereau slyly ignores Seidlin’s request for compliments. But what Mesereau, a top notch criminal defense lawyer, does say might be of interest. It’s particularly noteworthy since he liked Michael Jackson a lot, and fought hard for his acquittal in 2005.

HollywoodNews.com: It’s June 25th, and the Michael Jackson stories will go crazy today.
Top of the list: that someone will try and overturn Michael Jackson’s will. Yes, the rumor is that some group of Jackson outsiders have claimed an announcement scheduled for tomorrow. The word was that Jackson’s will would be contested by Thomas Mesereau, who represented Michael in his criminal case in 2005, and Dennis Hawk, a lawyer who works with Tohme Tohme, Jackson’s short time manager, would lead the charge.
“Not true,” Mesereau tells me adamantly. “I haven’t been aproached and I have nothing to do with it.” Mesereau–who generally stays out of the limelight and often represents wrongly accused defendants down in Alabama pro bono–was shocked when I told him the rumor. He knows Hawk, by the way, but that’s the extent of it.

HollywoodNews.com: Michael Jackson’s ardent fans are in an uproar. They’ve put up an internet petition asking Thomas Mesereau, Jackson’s criminal attorney from 2005, to step in and help them.
The fans are speculating additionally that Jackson family leech, Brian Oxman, an attorney on probation who speaks 24/7 on the subject of Jackson, was the source for the release of private trust documents to a British tabloid last week.
Oxman is now reduced to giving interviews to obscure radio and TV shows. On this link, you can hear him complaining about the lack of released documents in the Jackson case.

During more than a decade of monitoring, the Federal Bureau of Investigation helped set up interviews over child-molestation allegations and investigated a possible terror attack and an alleged assassination plot against Michael Jackson, according to newly released FBI files.
Despite monitoring Jackson for more than a decade, the files don't contain any major revelations about the late pop singer's private life and the bureau never uncovered any solid evidence against him in connection with two different molestation allegations, according to The Associated Press.
The documents made public on Tuesday date from 1992 to 2005, and though the FBI said they number about 600 pages, only 333 were released due to privacy rules and a desire to protect investigative techniques.

The lawyers who represented Michael Jackson during his molestation trial, in which he was ultimately acquitted of 14 charges, are now suing the late singer's estate. "The Insider" can confirm that attorneys Thomas Mesereau Jr. and Susan Yu have filed a $341,452 claim against Jackson's estate. The attorneys claim they are owed the money for legal services rendered after the trial, from approximately July 2005 through February 2006. Meanwhile, the Associated Press reports that on Tuesday, Jackson's estate filed a federal lawsuit against the Heal the World Foundation that bears the name of his famous song "Heal the World." The suit claims the foundation, created in 2008, is using Web sites and trademarks to imply the organization was approved by Jackson, thereby trying to obtain more donations. The suit also claims that the King of Pop in 1992 created a charity dubbed "Heal the World," which existed for about 10 years. Jackson passed away on June 25 and...

Thomas Mesereau, an attorney who successfully defended Michael Jackson in his molestation trial, spoke out to Hollywood.tv last night. In this all new Htv video, when asked about his thoughts on allegations that doctors may have improperly given Michael prescription medications, he said, "I think the evidence has to be examined. I have not examined the evidence. If any doctor illegally prescribed him drugs, tried to manipulate him, tried to keep him under their control, they should be investigated and prosecuted. But you've got to look at the evidence. I don't know what the evidence is." For more, watch our video.
