- Rugby star full-back who played for the London Welsh, Bridgend and Barbarians. He captained Wales and Bridgend, winning 55 caps for Wales. He became known as JPR to distinguish him from Wales team-mate John 'JJ' Williams. He showed great promise as a teenaged tennis player, but rugby union won out.
