Gemma Arterton, the British stage and screen star perhaps best known for playing Bond girl Strawberry Fields in “Quantum of Solace,” is set to star in upcoming period adventure thriller “Storm Witch.”
The independent U.K./Ireland co-production, to be directed by David Blair (a BAFTA winner for “Taking Over the Asylum” and “The Street”) from a screenplay by Tristan de Vere Cole, is being launched at the Marche du Film in Cannes later this month, with Myriad Pictures handling pre-sales.
Arterton, who also starred in “The King’s Man” and recently appeared in the Toronto-bowing “The Critic,” will lead a cast that includes Chloe Pirrie (“The Queen’s Gambit”), Stuart Martin (“Army of Thieves”), Kate Dickie (“Prometheus”) Steven Cree (“Outlander”) and Kevin McKidd (“Grey’s Anatomy”). The film is set to be shot later this year, primarily in Ireland.

Jamie and Claire are headed back to Scotland in the second half of Outlander Season 7. But their return to the country where they fell in love won’t go as they expect, executive producer Maril Davis has said.
Jamie and Claire return to Scotland in ‘Outlander’ Season 7
The past several seasons of Outlander have followed Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) as they build their life in colonial America. But in the Season 7 Part 1 finale, the couple found themselves on a ship bound for Scotland. They’ve been tasked with returning the body of Jamie’s cousin, General Simon Fraser (Angus Macfadyen), who died at the Second Battle of Saratoga in 1777, to his native land.
In America, the Frasers had been pulled into the Revolutionary War, and the conflict disrupted their earlier plans to sail for Scotland when Jamie was conscripted into the Continental Army. There’s a sense...

For fans of the Starz hit series “Outlander,” the time spent waiting between seasons can feel like an eternity. The sixth season concluded just over a year ago, and in that time the cast and crew have been hard at work to bring out another season of the show. We also received the bittersweet announcement at the end of March that the show’s eighth season would be its last.
Season 6 left us with a monster of a cliffhanger, with Claire (Caitriona Balfe) getting arrested and sent to prison for murder and Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Ian (John Bell) setting off on a mission to get her back. Never a dull moment for the Frasers. Thankfully, the wait is almost over. Season 7 premieres on Starz on June 16. If you at all care about Outlander‘s Jamie and/or Claire Fraser, we strongly recommend watching until the very end of the show’s new Season 7 trailer.
The nearly two-and-a-half-minute video, which Starz released Thursday, offers up plenty of weighty moments for us to fret over ahead of the season premiere. A mournful Claire sings “Ave Maria” while walking in a funeral procession. She cries while asking Jamie, “We will make it back here one day, won’t we?” Their house on Fraser’s Ridge very much seems like it’s on fire. Lord John wonders why Jamie won’t fight for England,...

“Outlander” is giving fans a little more time before they have to say goodbye — and giving subscribers more of a reason to sign up for a full year instead of just a few months. Season 7 of the time-travel romance will air in two parts, Starz said on Wednesday, with the first half airing this year and the second half waiting for 2024.
Season 7, as previously announced, consists of 16 episodes, the show’s highest order count since Season 1. Like Season 1, which aired in 2014 and 2015, Season 7 will be split into two eight-episode bunches — the “Droughtlander” is officially over on June 16. “Outlander” has already been renewed for a final Season 8, which will consist of 10 episodes and presumably air in 2025 or later.
It is currently unclear if the show, based on Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical-fantasy romance novels, will completely adapt the entire saga. Each season of “Outlander” thus far has adapted (roughly) one...

Sing me a song of a lass that is gone
Say, could that lass be … Grammy award-winning singer/songwriter Sinead O’Connor!
As a Valentine’s Day gift to “Outlander” fans worldwide, premium cable network Starz released the upcoming Season 7 version of the blockbuster series’ stunning opening titles sequence, this time featuring Irish songstress O’Connor crooning the show’s rousing theme song “The Skye Boat Song.”
Each season, the opening tune has been adapted to suit that season’s storylines, and has been performed by men and women, in both English and Gaelic, and at times it has featured orchestral instrumentation and even Caribbean-influenced percussion.
“We are honored,” proclaims series showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts about O’Connor lending her vocals to the iconic theme song. “Her rendition is, for me, a reminder of all that’s beautiful about ‘Outlander.’ She is talented beyond measure,” he says in Starz’s media release.

An American flag waves as Outlander season seven’s opening credits begin. Starz treated fans to a brief but much-needed Droughtlander break with the unveiling of a minute and half opening credits video. Outlander star Sam Heughan plays tour guide for a behind-the-scenes look at the Wilmington sets. “Welcome to our version of Selling Wilmington,” jokes Heughan as the nearly four-minute video begins. Heughan’s co-stars Sophie Skelton and Richard Rankin point out key locations on the set, including where Bree met her real dad for the very first time.
Both Skelton and Rankin take the time to show off the cabin where their characters had their first love scene.
The set’s massive and Sam Heughan confirms it’s grown considerably over the years as they add more and more frontage. “Some of these buildings are only fronts. Others are indoor/outdoor,” explains Heughan, adding that one of his favorite new constructions is the Red Falcon that was built in season six.
“So in the middle of Scotland, we have this beautiful early American town and there’s more to come,” says Skelton.

Put on your kilts and break out the bagpipes in mourning: “Outlander” is coming to an end. The hit Starz TV series has been renewed for an eighth and final season, the premium cable channel announced Thursday. The news comes ahead of Season 7 of the series, which will premiere in Summer 2023.
The news makes it unclear if the show, which is based Diana Gabaldon’s series of historical fantasy romance novels, will adapt the most recent installment, 2021’s “Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone.” Each season of “Outlander” has thus far roughly adapted one book in the series, with the upcoming seventh season set to cover 2009’s “An Echo in the Bone” and Season 8 presumably covering 2014’s “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood.” That said, Season 7 is set to have an extended 16-episode run, while Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes, so its possible that longer length can help cover all three books.

In recent years, Americans haven’t been having much luck when visiting Northern Europe. This time it’s Finland where our expat heroes find themselves, though to be fair, one of them does have a connection there, having inherited a large house in a remote village where the locals seems to have nothing better to do than stand around and stare suspiciously. What’s more, they have reason to get away from their old lives, having gone through the trauma of losing a child. Anthony (Steven Cree) hopes that the move will allow them to start rebuilding and get back to the way they used to be. Rachel (Teresa Palmer) has been hesitant about it, but she’ll be happy as long as it works out for little Elliot (Tristan Ruggeri).

"We didn't leave him... He is always with us." Rlje Films has revealed an official trailer for a horror film titled The Twin, which takes place in Finland following an American family that moves there after losing one of their children. The film is opening in Finland first in April, then in the US this May. The film is about a mother who needs to confront the unbearable truth about her surviving twin son. She must "unravel the torturous truth about her son and confronts the malicious forces attempting to take a hold of him." Teresa Palmer stars, along with Steven Cree, Barbara Marten, and Tristan Ruggeri playing both of the twin boys. Another epic horror thriller from Finland! Wow - this has some incredible shots in it. Definitely not a low key indie - this seems to have some big thrills and intense twists in the story. The trailer is worth a look.

Warning: this A Discovery of Witches review contains spoilers.
Bem vindo, babies! Welcome to A Discovery of Witches, a world of magic, mortal danger, extremely covetable houses, and excellent coats (every character has at least one excellent coat. Presumably the babies will be fitted for theirs shortly). Though their world is fraught with danger, little Philip and Rebecca are lucky mites. Yes, they’ve been born into the middle of a war, but they’ve landed on the winning side, with a mum who’s an all-powerful witch prophesied to change the world, and a dad who drives a Bentley – it’s all the start in life any child needs.
A good portion of episode four was devoted to the babies’ arrival, which had a characteristic Matthew-and-Diana honeyed glow about it. Trust those two to have a silky, romantic labour. No hospital gowns, strip lighting and plastic bedsheets for them – just lightly perspiring gorgeousness.
