Steven J. Kung uses humor to illuminate things oft unseen which include POC and LGBTQ+ folx. His feature about anti-Asian racism in the entertainment industry, A LEADING MAN, won multiple awards on the festival circuit. He also directed on the sixth season of FRESH OFF THE BOAT and is a director in the Paramount Directing Initiative. As a writer, Steven wrote on DEAR WHITE PEOPLE, and has developed projects for Lionsgate, Starz, and the Hallmark Channel. In another life, Steven worked at the Department of Justice and the Kennedy Center. He is a proud co-founder of the DGA LGBTQ+ Committee and co-chair emeritus of the DGA Asian American Committee. His patronus is a soup dumpling.
Kung's film A Leading Man (2013) was chosen by the Directors Guild of America to be spotlighted in its August 2013 screening of independent or low-budget movies in the DGA Theater Two in Los Angeles, CA.
