CBS debuted its newest late-night show last night and the numbers are.
After Midnight, hosted by Taylor Tomlinson, was watched by an average of 686,000 viewers in the 12:37am hour, per Nielsen’s live+same day fast national data.
This compares to The Late Late Show with James Corden’s live+same day average of 806,000 for its final season.
Some caveats, the data does not yet include viewing from out-of-home, which will be available on Friday, most of the networks only really pay attention to the live+3 numbers, and it was After Midnight’s debut show. It will be interesting to see whether the game show format gets a bigger jump in delayed viewing than a traditional late-night show, which is slightly more topical.
After Midnight was up 31% across all viewers compared to the time period over the season, where Comics Unleashed has often aired while CBS waited to debut The Late Late Show replacement.

Farewell James Corden, hello Taylor Tomlinson. CBS unveiled its new late-night show, After Midnight, last night in the time slot following The Late Show With Stephen Colbert. Instead of a talk show like The Late Late Show, After Midnight is a reboot of Comedy Central’s popular game show @midnight, which ran for 600 episodes.
For its debut, Tomlinson enlisted fellow comedians Whitney Cummings, Aparna Nancherla, and Kurt Braunohler, who battled it out in a series of improvised games. Tomlinson joked that the grand prize was “my father’s approval.” “It is rare but winnable,...

After Midnight finally made its debut January 16 in the timeslot formerly held by James Corden.
Hosted by comedian Taylor Tomlinson, the show is a reboot of the old Comedy Central game show @midnight, which ran for 600 episodes on the sibling Paramount-owned network. For those who didn’t see the original version, imagine a combination of Who’s Line Is It Anyway? and Tosh 2.0: it’s an internet-themed panel game show that challenges comedians to come up with the best yuks during a series of improv games.
For the premiere, Whitney Cummings battled it out against Aparna Nancherla (former writer on Late Night with Seth Meyers) and Kurt Braunohler (former host of IFC’s Bunk) in front of a studio audience for the grand prize of “my father’s approval,” quipped Tomlinson. “It is rare but winnable.”

CBS gave its new late night series “After Midnight” a bit of a soft launch on Tuesday night, premiering the show with minimal fanfare in its 12:37 a.m. timeslot behind “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” Comedian Taylor Tomlinson hosts the series, which tapes on the Paramount lot in Hollywood.
The decision to keep the “After Midnight” premiere lowkey is by design: Allow the new show to find its voice over the next few weeks, prior to the Super Bowl and return of first-run scripted series in February, when more eyeballs will be back at the broadcast networks.
“I’m Taylor Tomlinson and this is ‘After Midnight, where three comedians enter, one wins and two will regret participating,” she said in opening the first episode. “We’re taking the internet and desperately trying to make it fun. It’s gonna be fun, right? Comedians, you’ll be competing for...

Writer/director Zach Cregger’s horror film Barbarian (watch it Here) was a financial success when it was released last year, and it also received a lot of positive word-of-mouth. New Line Cinema was so impressed by it, they forked over $38 million to pick up Cregger’s mysterious new horror project, Weapons. (Beating out Jordan Peele and Universal in the bidding war.) New Line then signed a first look deal with BoulderLight Pictures, the production company behind Barbarian. They have since set up two other projects, a sci-fi thriller called Companion and a haunted house movie called Occupant, that Cregger will be producing. But while the filmmakers move on to other ideas, Barbarian does still has life in it. Our friends at Bloody Disgusting report that a Barbarian video game is now in the works!

The snow is falling, the cocoa’s steaming, and the kids are putting together entire binders of everything they want for Christmas, alongside the threat of tears and violence. That’s right, it’s Christmastime at Bob’s Burgers, and everyone’s favorite shore town is decking the halls and docking Uncle Father Santa Teddy’s yacht.
From snow-plow sins to gingerbread gunfights to the only song about light bulbs you’ll ever need, there are few shows that capture the highs and lows of the holiday season quite as well as Bob’s Burgers. Murderville is returning for a special episode this holiday season. On the Netflix murder mystery-comedy series, senior detective Terry Seattle (Will Arnett) will investigate the murder of Santa. In the episode, Arnett will be joined by Jason Bateman, Maya Rudolph, Eliza Coupe, Kurt Braunohler, Haneefah Wood, Lilan Bowden, Dennice Cisneros, Tawny Newsome, and Courtney Parchman.
The Murderville series debuted in February with six episodes. There's been no word yet on the possibility of a second season, but decisions are typically made within a month or two of a show's debut. The release of a holiday special 10 months later would seem to indicate that the series may still have a chance of being renewed.

Barbarian is filled with insane twists, but the most shocking might be the one that occurs just over an hour in. After we’ve already watched Keith (Bill Skarsgård) get brutally killed by a monster dwelling in the tunnels underneath the Detroit house he’s rented, and after we’ve seen disgraced actor Aj (Justin Long) discover the same tunnels, director Zach Cregger hard cuts to 40 years earlier.
In a shot that mirrors the opening image of the house, we witness the neighborhood as it was: blue skies, green lawns, and even a literal white picket fence. From the house emerges nondescript homeowner Frank (Richard Brake). The camera follows Frank in a long unbroken shot, watching him drive past kids on bikes and wave at neighbors watering the grass. Simply put, it’s the ideal neighborhood—a far cry from the collection of run-down homes and industrial spaces it has...

The start of the fall box office just got bleaker as Warner Bros is moving New Line’s adaptation of Stephen King vampire novel Salem’s Lot from Sept. 9 to April 21, 2023. I hear the move is due to Covid-related delays in the post production realm. The Gary Dauberman-directed pic also had a handful of days of additional photography six weeks ago.
That post Labor Day weekend is a rich one that Warner Bros/New Line created for horror movie fare, beginning with Stephen King’s It in 2017 which debuted to the month’s all-time record of 123.4M. Warner continued to tap that weekend in 2018 with The Nun which saw the best opening for The Conjuring franchise with 53.8M and again in 2019 with It: Chapter Two which debuted to 91M (Dauberman adapted the It movies for the big screen).

"This process might seem overwhelming..." 20th Century has revealed the first trailer for Barbarian, yet another rental home horror thriller, this one from actor / filmmaker Zach Cregger. We just posted another trailer a few days ago for a film, Gone in the Night, also about a doubled-booked rental - this is becoming a trend with thrillers. In town for a job interview, a young woman arrives at her Airbnb late at night only to find that her rental has been mistakenly double-booked and a strange man is already staying there. Against her better judgement, she decides to stay the night anyway, but soon discovers that there is much more to be afraid of in the house than the other guest. The film stars Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgård, Justin Long, Matthew Patrick Davis, Richard Brake, Kurt Braunohler, and Jaymes Butler. This looks like it goes to some crazy places once she...

Formerly known as Court TV, truTV specializes in reality programming, particularly with a comedic bent, but the Turner-owned cable network does like to dip a toe into the scripted series pool. To that end, its I'm Sorry TV show made its debut in 2017, and now it is finally back for a second season. Will the audience still care after such a long hiatus, or will truTV be sorry it waited so long between installments? Will I'm Sorry be cancelled or renewed for season three? Showtime's Black Monday follows in network mate Billions' footsteps in creating a darkly comedic story about stock trading.
The TV landscape is currently preoccupied with something it probably always should have been preoccupied with: money. Prestige cable shows like Billions and Succession have entered the cultural conversation by telling stories about money and the people who make a lot of it.
Shows like Lodge 49 and even the Roseanne reboot (which has now transformed into The Conners) examine the economy from a working class perspective. Why is television suddenly interested in the contents of its characters wallets? David Caspe, co-creator of Showtime’s Black Monday, has a theory.
“I think we’re still seeing reverberations from the '08 crash,” he says. “If you think about how devastating that was, the repercussions so far-flung and I think that it probably takes a little time for an event like that...

“Black Monday” show creators David Caspe and Jordan Cahen divulged an intriguing detail to come later in the first season of the new Showtime comedy at its world premiere, held at the Theatre at Ace Hotel on Monday night in Los Angeles.
“The fourth or fifth episode opens with a sexual harassment seminar, which very well could be the first ever,” Caspe said of the series, which takes place in the 1980s. “So that was a very fun, kind of f—ed up thing to explore. I think we were just trying to satirize what’s happening now and this was a good prism to view it through.”
The half-hour comedy series, which reportedly took 11 years to get off the ground, reimagines the events leading up to the infamous stock market crash of 1987. The cutthroat world of stock broking serves as an exaggerated backdrop to the gender-fueled power struggle on...

Hollywood’s been no stranger to Wall Street, but with the help of Don Cheadle and Andrew Rannells, one new Showtime series is looking to dig deep into one of the financial sector’s darkest hours.
“Black Monday” is one of Showtime’s biggest 2019 bets, a comedy about the lead-up to and aftermath of October 19, 1987, a day of a global money meltdown that saw nearly a quarter of the Dow Jones average disappear almost overnight.
Giving that day the “Big Short” treatment, this ten-episode series will chart the exploits of high-stakes Wall Street player Rod “The Jammer” Jaminski (Cheadle), who entices pure-intentioned Blair Shmerman (Rannells) to join his team. Fresh off a summer of “Support the Girls,” Regina Hall plays Jaminski’s second-in-command.
The trailer below definitely has some “Wolf of Wall Street” vibes too, featuring some trading room antics and some slow-motion realization that money situations are about to get very bad very soon.

In short: T.J. Miller made being there a "nightmare," and his male costars didn't do anything to help the boys' club atmosphere.
Disturbing physical and sexual assault claims were made against Miller in 2017, resulting in his Comedy Central show being canceled and his presence being wiped from the press tours for films like Ready Player One. An investigation from The Hollywood Reporter also revealed that Miller had been let go from Mike Judge's HBO series after he repeatedly showed up to...
