It’s possible that this appallingly awful excuse for a raunchy comedy is meant to be satirical, but I suspect it’s merely shockingly incompetent, even grading on the raunchy-comedy curve. Not that it would have worked as satire, either, but the notion makes it slightly easier to explain away what appears to be the concept here: If only we were all as rude, crude, lewd, and selfish as super car salesman Don Ready (Jeremy Piven [RocknRolla], who looks embarrassed to be here, as well he should), America would be great again. Or else it’s the sleazy bigotry and uncontrollable horniness of America that has always made the nation great; the scrawlers of the “script” (Andy Stock and Rick Stempson, who actually put their names to their only previous produced work, the direct-to-dvd Balls Out: Gary the Tennis Coach) don’t seem to know what they want to say, except...

While most of the country is getting excited for this weekend’s release of The Hangover, there’s another little film also coming out that seems to be a contender for “Comedy of the Year” as well. This film is The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard and it features Entourage star and multiple Emmy winner Jeremy Piven, among others. The first trailer for the film just went up, and it looks like it may just have the star power to drag in the Old School and Role Models audience.
The film is written by Andy Stock and Rick Stempson, who have only one film in their repertoire with the direct-to-dvd comedy Balls Out: Gary the Tennis Coach starring Sean William Scott. The Goods brings in comedy names like Tony Hale (Arrested Development), David Koechner (Anchorman), and Ken Jeong (Role Models) which, by names alone, could prove to be a pretty funny film.

- Looks like we are going to get tennis lessons this summer everyone. If Sony is gambling correctly, this purchase may result in a Judd Apatow crowd pleaser and if they get it wrong - think of that ping-pong forgettable flick from last year. Formerly going by the title of Gary the Tennis Coach, Sony Pictures Entertainment picked up North American rights to Danny Leiner's indie comedy Balls Out: The Gary Houseman Story. Written by Andy Stock and Rick Stempson, this centers on an overzealous high school janitor (Scott -see spitting image of Aaron Eckhart above) who takes on the task of coaching a group of lovable misfits to the Nebraska state championship, overcoming their motley backgrounds in the process. ...

Paramount Vantage has greenlighted its first comedy under its deal with Will Ferrell and Adam McKay's Gary Sanchez Prods.: "The Goods: The Don Ready Story", starring Jeremy Piven and directed by Neal Brennan.
The project was brought to Gary Sanchez by Kevin Messick, who will produce with Ferrell, McKay and Sanchez's Chris Henchy.
Rick Stempson and Andy Stock wrote the script, which centers on a used-car liquidator hired to save a struggling dealership during a Fourth of July weekend sale. Messick said that the project was developed on spec with the writing pair. Production will begin in December in Los Angeles.
This is Stempson and Stock's second project. Their first, "Gary the Tennis Coach", recently was produced by GreeneStreet Films and stars Seann William Scott. The pair are repped by UTA and Karl Austen.
Brennan wrote, produced, directed and co-created Comedy Central's Emmy-nominated "Chappelle's Show" with Dave Chappelle.
Piven won an Emmy and received two Golden Globe nominations for his work on HBO's "Entourage". He next will appear in director Peter Berg's political drama "The Kingdom" and recently completed production on Guy Ritchie's "RocknRolla".
Piven is repped by CAA and Patti Felker.
