After 25 years as a talent agent, the past six at ICM Partners, Ruthanne Secunda is leaving the representation side of the business to become a producer. I hear Secunda told the ICM Partners leadership in June of her intention to leave. She announced her decision to her colleagues Tuesday afternoon when she began to inform her clients.
Secunda will be a full-time producer and not a manager-producer. She still plans to work with some of her clients and already has been packaging projects with them to sell. I hear her contract is up early next year but she had asked to be released a little earlier so she can be up and running for the broadcast pitch season this summer.
“There has never been a more dynamic, exciting or prolific time to be in the content-creation business,” said Secunda. “Producing is a natural extension of the skills and relationships I...

Exclusive: Al Pacino has returned to ICM Partners, rejoining the agency almost exactly a year after he left to join CAA. Pacino’s exit came right after the agency restructured and longtime head Jeff Berg left to start the agency Resolution. Berg had been part of the team that repped Pacino, along with John Burnham and Adam Schweitzer. They signed the iconic actor after his agent Rick Nicita left to join Morgan Creek, prompting Pacino to end a 22-year run at CAA. ICM Partners has settled down under its new structure and Burnham and Schweitzer have gotten Pacino back. Nicita is his manager. Pacino is involved in many of the same projects, including a date to play the late Penn State head football coach Joe Paterno in the Edward R. Pressman-produced Brian DePalma-directed Happy Valley, a film about how Paterno’s rep as college’s winningest coach was...

Katie Holmes sat courtside last night as the Golden State Warriors took on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Katie was joined by her agent, Adam Schweitzer, in the front row, where they watched the Knicks take home the win. She dressed casually for the event, adding a pop of team spirit with orange pumps and a lipstick shade to match. Katie's night out came without her usual companion, Suri Cruise, who recently spent time in London with dad Tom Cruise. Katie is back on the East Coast after a quick trip to La last week. She attended an exclusive dinner last Thursday, which was hosted by the ICM Partners agency. Katie didn't stick around to participate in Oscars festivities, despite attending Vanity Fair's afterparty with Tom by her side last year. View Slideshow ›...

The 3-time Tony winner and Academy Award nominee will be repped by Toni Howard and Adam Schweitzer. The latter, who was recently promoted to co-head Icm’s motion picture talent department, signed William Hurt earlier this week. Last year, the Frost/Nixon Best Actor nominee waited until Oscar voting had closed before jumping from Innovative to William Morris Agency's Ed Limato. Langella followed Limato to Wme and this is his first agency move since Ed's death. Langella has had a strong 2010. He starred in the Oliver Stone-directed Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, and he opens today in All Good Things, starring with Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst in the Andrew Jarecki-directed drama based on the case of Robert Durst, scion of the Gotham-based real estate empire The Durst Organization. Even if Christoph Waltz had not been cast as Col. Hans Landa, the charming but insidious Nazi Jew hunter in the World War II movie "Inglourious Basterds," the experience of auditioning for its writer-director, Quentin Tarantino, would have been enough to satisfy him, shares the actor."It was Quentin, Lawrence Bender, and myself chatting in a civilized manner—three gentlemen in an office," recalls the Austrian-born Waltz of the initial meeting with Tarantino and his producer in Berlin, where the actor has pursued most of his career. "And then the unavoidable question: 'Would you mind if we read?' I said, 'Definitely not. I was looking forward to it.' So we read; we read the whole script. That I didn't expect. It was fantastic—Quentin playing all the other parts. Lawrence was completely quiet, just watching."A week later, Waltz was called back by Berlin-based casting director Simone Bär...

Hot off his best actor award at this month's Festival de Cannes, Christoph Waltz has signed with Icm.
The Austrian actor is considered the breakout star of Quentin Tarantino's new film "Inglourious Basterds," in which he plays cruel Nazi Col. Hans Landa. The World War II actioner opens Aug. 21 in the U.S.
Icm's Adam Schweitzer read the "Basterds" script and believed the actor who landed the role had breakout potential. When Waltz, an award-winning TV actor in Germany, got the gig, Schweitzer pursued him and his German reps, becoming the first U.S. agent to approach them.
After several months, he secured an interview with Waltz, which led to the signing.
