Updated, 12:50 Pm: Ishana Night Shyamalan’s debut film is on the move, again. And the new date is a familiar one. Two months after Warner Bros. shuffled The Watchers back by a week to the June 14-16 Fathers Day frame, the pic is headed back to its original June 7 date.
It’ll have some action-packed company that Friday, going against Sony’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the long-gestating fourth film in the nearly 30-year-old franchise. Lionsgate’s The Crow remake also was set for June 7, but that pic flew away from the date about three weeks ago and now is set for August 23.
Warners Bros. is hoping to cater to a female audience with The Watchers.
Also opening wide on June 7 is Vertical Entertainment’s The Exorcism directed by Joshua John Miller.

Adapted from Am Shine's novel by Ishana Night Shyamalan and produced by M.
Fanning here plays Mina, an artist who becomes stranded in a giant, untouched forest somewhere in Ireland. Stumbling on a mysterious glass-walled home, she thinks she might have found safe shelter.
But no! As it turns out, she's soon trapped alongside three strangers who are watched all night by unseen, peculiar creatures. What's really going on? It's a Shyamalan film, so we're expecting some surprises.

“You can’t see them, but they see everything.”
Warner Bros. has released the trailer for the upcoming horror film “The Watchers,” written and directed by Ishana Shyamalan, the daughter of horror veteran M. Night Shyamalan, in her directorial debut. Based on the gothic horror novel by A.H. Shine, the film stars Dakota Fanning and is set for release in North America on June 7.
Per its official description, “The Watchers” follows Mina (Fanning), a 28-year-old artist “who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.”
In the eerie trailer, Mina looks at a wall made entirely of glass. She’s informed that it’s actually a one-way window; every night the group is watched by a sinister audience, and Mina is just the latest addition to the cast.

A year and a half ago, we heard that M. Night Shyamalan was producing the thriller The Vanishings at Caddo Lake, which was being directed by the duo of Celine Held and Logan George – who made their feature directorial debut with the 2020 drama Topside and went on to direct episodes of Shyamalan’s Apple TV+ series Servant. That movie, which now has the shorter title Caddo Lake, still doesn’t have a release date… but it does have a rating. The Motion Picture Association’s ratings board has given Caddo Lake a PG-13 for some disturbing/bloody images, thematic elements, and brief strong language.
Shyamalan has only made two R-rated movies (The Happening and Knock at the Cabin), so it’s not surprising to hear that this Shyamalan-produced project has earned a PG-13.
Held and George wrote the screenplay for the film, crafting the following story: When an 8-year-old girl mysteriously vanishes on Caddo Lake,...

Like father, like daughter: Ishana Night Shyamalan is joining her dad, M. Night Shyamalan, in the family business of making movies by directing "The Watchers," the forthcoming thriller set up at New Line. Now, before you start breaking out your best nepo baby wisecracks, it's worth noting that Ishana Night Shyamalan has already helmed multiple episodes of "Servant," the critically-acclaimed Apple TV+ horror/thriller series that was executive produced and co-directed by her pop. M. Night Shyamalan didn't merely hire Ishana for "Servant" hoping she would prove to have a knack for visual storytelling, either.
"Ishana is one of several filmmakers that I hired based off of their short films," he explained to Entertainment Weekly. He added that, at 30 minutes long, each episode of "Servant" is "basically a short film" in and of itself. Having already seen her short films at NYU's Tish School, the "Sixth Sense" and "Knock at the Cabin...

Georgina Campbell survived the horrors of last year’s Barbarian, and she’s now set to return to the genre with New Line’s The Watchers.
THR reports that Campbell has joined Dakota Fanning to star in Ishana Night Shyamalan‘s feature debut.
The Watchers follows “Mina, a 28-year old artist who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers that are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.”
Production is tentatively to begin this summer in Ireland, with theatrical release scheduled for June 7, 2024.
Campbell will play one of the three strangers, though no additional character details have been revealed at this time. Here’s hoping her character has an easier time than Barbarian‘s Tess, but we have a hunch that what’s lurking in the forest isn’t good news. It is a horror movie,...

After a long stint at Universal that helped reinvigorate his career, M. Night Shyamalan has found a new studio home. The filmmaker and his Blinding Edge Pictures have inked a multi-year, first-look deal with Warner Bros.
The studio has already set a date for his next feature, Trap, which will open Aug. 2, 2024.
Under the deal, Shyamalan will develop projects for Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line, which recently acquired The Watchers. He will produce the feature that is to be written and directed by his middle daughter, Ishana Night Shyamalan.
Shyamalan reinvented himself with his work at Universal, which distributed The Visit, the 2015 found-footage horror film that earned 98 million on a 5 million budget. It was the start of a fruitful relationship for the studio and the filmmaker, who had entered a fallow period after a series of big budget bombs, including The Last Airbender and After Earth.
