Rooster Teeth, the Austin-based media giant that launched a video game publishing division two years ago, has unveiled its latest title: a multiplayer first-person shooter called Vicious Circle.
Set in a gritty, sci-fi comic book universe, Vicious Circle marks the first original IP game from Rooster Teeth Games. Previous titles, such as Rwby: Grimm Eclipse, have been inspired by existing series -- such as the long-running anime Rwby. Vicious Circle was created by Michael Hadwin, the company’s head of game development, in collaboration with the company’s founders and other Rooster Teeth execs.
Rooster Teeth founders Gus Sorola and Burnie Burns announced the new game yesterday on The Rooster Teeth Podcast alongside frequent personalities Gavin Free and Barbara Dunkelman. Citing the success of Grimm Eclipse, Burns said that the company tasked the same creative team with formulating an original concept. James Charles fans likely know that the YouTube beauty phenom recently purchased a new house -- though unfortunately, it turns out, some followers appear to have tracked down the 19-year-old’s address and are showing up at his front door unannounced.
Like many YouTubers before him, Charles sternly asked his followers yesterday -- which totals 11.4 million YouTube subscribers and 11.5 million Instagram followers -- to stop coming to his home. “I will not hug you, I will not take a photo with you, and I absolutely will not sign your [eyeshadow] palette,” he tweeted. “It is extremely disrespectful and makes me feel very unsafe in my own home. Respect people’s privacy, it’s really not that hard.”
Apparently, though, it's a violation that has become a common occurrence for digital celebrities, whose fame is predicated on fostering a sense of familiarity. In the past, YouTube couples like Zoe Sugg and Alfie Deyes...

James Corden is one of the nation’s favorite late night hosts; who would ever want to see this guy get hit in the face? Normally, we’d say no. But the segment in his show featuring The Slow Mo Guys is just so awesome; we had to watch it again and again. The Slow Mo Guys are the geniuses behind the YouTube show of the same name, where Gavin Free and Daniel Charles Gruchy film anything and everything you could ever think of in super slow motion. In yet another harrowing incident of a deranged fan targeting popular YouTube stars, the couple Gavin Free and Meg Turney reportedly hid in the closet of their Austin home in the middle of the night late last month while a man with a gun unsuccessfully attempted to locate them, firing off one full round in their house.
While the couple were ultimately unharmed, the perpetrator, Christopher Giles, encountered police after leaving Free and Turney's home after 10 minutes, reports the Albuquerque Journal. Free and Turney reportedly called 911 from their closet, and Giles was met by officers in the driveway, where shots were fired. Giles was pronounced dead on the scene -- though it has yet to be confirmed whether he killed himself or if he was shot by one of the officers.

The Slow Mo Guys have launched their most significant project to date. Gavin Free and Daniel Gruchy, whose experiments with high-speed cameras have netted them more than 10 million subscribers and close to 1.3 billion views on the channel they co-host, have launched The Super Slow Show, a YouTube-funded series that ups the slow-motion ante through over-the-top stunts and appearances from celebrity guests.
In a typical Slow Mo Guys video, Free and Gruchy take a fast process -- such as the explosion of a giant water balloon -- and depict it in slow motion. Their new program will continue to apply that same formula in order to create eye-popping visuals. "The duo explores everything from the tiniest phenomenons to the greatest spectacles in a visual fantasia, with one-of-a-kind glimpses into what the world looks like in slow motion," reads a press release.

Rooster Teeth's heroes have suited up once again and are ready to do battle with extraterrestrial foes. The Austin-based studio has released Lazer Team 2, a feature film that serves as a sequel to 2016's Lazer Team.
In the original Lazer Team, four friends -- portrayed by Michael Jones, Gavin Free, Burnie Burns, and Colton Dunn -- came upon a powerful suit of armor, which granted them special abilities. In the second film, all four of the lead actors reprise their roles as the titular team heads out on an adventure to save one of their own. A trailer showcases some of the action, comedy, and 80s references viewers can expect:
The first Lazer Team film, funded with the help of a record-breaking raise on Indiegogo, ultimately reeled in more than $1 million in theatrical ticket sales. Emboldened by that success, Rooster Teeth announced a sequel in August 2016, with Fullscreen Films...

The Slow Mo Guys decided to see how sharp a katana is. To test this, they adopted the methodology of Man at Arms: slice through plastic bottles filled with water. They first cut through small water bottles full of water, and then they graduate up to larger bottles filled with soda or other colored liquids. Once the wielder gets the hang of things, he easily gets through them and describes it as cutting through butter. I only wish they would’ve put all the slow-motion clips at the end of the video if you just want to watch some very satisfying clips and don’t care about the setup.

In 2014, the digital entertainment studio Rooster Teeth invited its fans to suss out the details of a murder-mystery when it launched a series called Ten Little Roosters. A sequel to that show has since been greenlit, and it is now just a few days away from its premiere date. A trailer The Eleven Little Roosters, a spy-mystery-thriller that looks to be bigger and bloodier than its predecessor.
The titular Roosters are international spies who must figure out which one of them is a traitor. In each episode, characters will be killed off, and the viewers who accurately predict plot points by synthesizing clues like hidden Qr codes, in-dialogue hints, and audio cues will win prizes.
Even for viewers who aren’t super sleuths, The Eleven Little Roosters will have plenty of entertainment value. Its offbeat characters will generate plenty of comedy, and Rooster Teeth aficionados will recognize many of their favorite personalities among the cast.

Rooster Teeth’s Geoff Ramsey has officially begun his tenure as a video game coach. The Achievement Hunter co-founder is the host of Schooled, a collaboration with At&T’s Hello Lab initiative that is now live.
Schooled was born out of a bet between Ramsey and his co-worker Gavin Free. Ramsey bet Free that he could teach a team of children to beat the Achievement Hunter gang at a video game. If the kids win, the Hunters suffer severe embarrassment. If the Ah Crew emerges victorious, Ramsey has to get Free’s nose tattooed on his body.
In the first episode of Schooled, we meet the crack team of youngsters assembled by Ramsey and his own 11-year-old daughter, Millie. With Ramsey as head instructor and Millie as a “froach” (friend and coach), the kids prepare to begin their training in the multiplayer video game Ultimate Chicken Horse.

Four heroes with super-powered suits of space armor are headed out to save the world...again. During a Television Critics Association (TCA) presentation, YouTube announced its plan to distribute a sequel to the Rooster Teeth feature film Lazer Team on its YouTube Red subscription service.
The original Lazer Team was Rooster Teeth’s first-ever feature-length film. After spending more than a decade building one of the Internet’s most dedicated fan communities, the Austin-based studio funded Lazer Team by raising more than $2.4 million on Indiegogo. A year later, the film was announced as one of the launch titles for YouTube Red, which costs $9.99 per month and offers access to premium content as one of its biggest selling points. Ultimately, the film arrived for Red subscribers in February of this year.
The first Lazer Team film followed its four leads, played by Burnie Burns, Michael Jones, Gavin Free, and Colton Dunn.

For more than a decade, the team over at Rooster Teeth has committed itself to high-quality programming that marries video games to comedy. Now, with its latest series, Rooster Teeth is looking to shine light on the next generation of gaming stars. The Austin-based studio has partnered with the At&T Hello Lab for a competition series called Schooled.
Schooled will star Geoff Ramsey, the co-founder of Rooster Teeth and the ringleader of its Let’s Play team. Ramsey will recruit a group of young gamers between the ages of eight and 12 and will train them to face off against other members of the Rooster Teeth gang. If Ramsey’s coworkers emerge victorious, he will have to get fellow Let’s Player Gavin Free’s nose tattooed somewhere on his body, so the stakes are quite high.

In 2008, Burnie Burns and Gavin Free of online entertainment and production company Rooster Teeth saw a YouTube video of an Indian man performing a cosmic head massage. Watching the video triggered an Asmr, or automated sensory meridian response, experience for them both, and the two became incredibly fascinated with this man, Baba Sen — known as the “cosmic barber.” Over the next eight years, Burns and Free continually discussed the phenomenon of Asmr — an experience of a relaxing sensation triggered by many things such as whispered voices — and hoped to be able to get a head massage from Baba one day.

A film that's punched above its weight even to get a UK cinema release, we check out new sci-fi flick Lazer Team...
Since 2011, the web production company Rooster Teeth have been working on their first full length feature, drawing inspiration in equal parts from the sci-fi cult classics and underdog team sports movies that they grew up watching. The result of their efforts, Lazer Team, comes hot off the back of the highest-funded film crowd-funding campaign ever (raising $2.4 million in a month) and even attracted enough interest in international sales to get a limited theatrical run in the UK.
Starring, written and directed by the Rooster Teeth crew, Lazer Team follows a bunch of misfits - worrywart local cop Hagan (Burnie Burns), cocksure jock Zach (Michael Jones), burnt out alcoholic Herman (Colton Dunn), and dumb mullethead Woody (Gavin Free) - who are in the wrong place at...

Movie: Lazer Team Director: Matt Hullum Starring: Burnie Burns, Gavin Free, Michael Jones, Colton Dunn, Allie DeBerry and Alan Ritchson Many people are determined to make an everlasting and powerful impression on society, and prove that they have worthy attributes that deserve to be rightfully recognized. While some of people’s past actions and personalities traits have proved otherwise, as they readily fit into society’s low expectations of them, their continued persistence in achieving their goals grippingly proves their peers’ beliefs about them to be wrong. That powerful message is enthrallingly presented in director-co-writer-producer Matt Hullum’s new sci-fi comedy, ‘Lazer Team.‘ The independent action film proves that audiences genuinely appreciate not [ Read More ]

The endless list of Indiegogo backers appearing towards the end of Lazer Team‘s credits make clear that the movie will not be wanting for fans, since it was they who mostly helped fund this science fiction comedy. So the question is if this film will strike a chord with audience members unfamiliar with Austin-based production company Rooster Teeth, the creative minds behind the film? In their first-feature length project, the comedic troupe, best-known for their video-game-based web series Red Vs. Blue, have created a product composed of the elements that make them a bonafide YouTube sensation: effective, low-budget visual effects, bro-ish jokes, and a self-aware love of geekdom that’s completely free of cynicism.

Lazer Team
Written by Burnie Burns, Chris Demarais, Joshua Flanagan & Matt Hullum
Directed by Matt Hullum
USA, 2015
We’re not a team, we’re a timebomb.

Lazer Team is the story of a dimwitted group of ne’er-do-wells that stumble into the position of defenders of humanity — imagine the burnouts from Pineapple Express or the nerds from Superbad inheriting superpowers and you’re on the right track. The brainchild of the Rooster Teeth crew, Lazer Team features all the raunchy humor and cinematic hi-jinks that has endeared the brand to its wildly devoted fans over the past decade.
In Lazer Team, the American military intercepts an extra-terrestrial signal that warns them of an impending alien threat. So that humanity may stand a fighting chance, a benign alien race sends a ship carrying a suit of power to earth which provides the strength needed to defeat the invaders.

I’m going to dub Rooster Teeth’s Lazer Team the Anti-Pixels. Their plots are so eerily similar, but I guess that can be said about most of these “unlikely hero” arcs in science fiction. A group of friends stumble upon alien weaponry, training montages ensue, there’s an inner struggle that keeps the team at odds, an alien challenger comes to Earth for a universal pink-slip competition, and the team finally comes together in a moment of emotional triumph. The only difference? Lazer Team doesn’t totally suck like Pixels. In fact, it’s rather funny – but what else would you expect from Rooster Teeth? You’ve been watching these guys make a mockery of Halo for years, now watch them take aim at the sci-fi genre like only their brash immaturity could imagine.
So who is the Lazer Team? Just your run-of-the-mill chuckleheads who have no business saving the world.

Last year's fest was one of my favorites ever, fitting for a tenth anniversary, and I would love to go this year. It's just not in the cards, though. It guts me, too. The event continues to grow and change and evolve, and it features one of the greatest programming teams in the business right now. There are films playing at the festival that I'll see in Toronto, and I'm sure I'll catch up with others, but that's not the point. Fantastic Fest is an experience, and an amazing one. If you want to go, you still can. "Daytime Only Badges, Fan Badges, and 2Nd Half Badges for Fantastic Fest 2015 are available for purchase here," today's press release urged. If you can go for the second half, you'll...

Rooster Teeth finally has a release date for its first feature film Lazer Team. The Austin-based web production company’s sci-fi comedy movie will make its worldwide premiere at Austin’s Alamo Drafthouse South Lamar during the genre cinema festival Fantastic Fest on September 24, 2015.
Presented by Fullscreen (Rooster Teeth’s parent company) and its recently-launched film department, Lazer Team tells the story of four hapless idiots who accidentally don various pieces of a genetically-linking super suit, originally intended for the Champion of Earth to defend the planet from an oncoming alien invasion. The film stars Burnie Burns, Michael Jones, Gavin Free, Colton Dunn, and Alan Ritchson, who will all be in attendance at the Lazer Team world premiere for a post-screening question-and-answer session.
Lazer Team was originally launched as an Indiegogo campaign by Rooster Teeth in June 2014. The production company managed to raise over $1 million in just three days, and...

It’s hard to believe that we are a month away from what is possibly the best genre film festival in North America! After announcing a Kurt Russell included first wave, we get a wave that probably includes all the films I have the most interest in. The French remake of what I consider is one of Mario Bava’s best films, Rabid Dogs is included. Along with Jeremy Saulnier’s follow up from Blue Ruin, Green Room where Patrick Stewart plays a Neo-Nazi club owner, Ridley Scott’s The Martian, Ben Wheatley’s adaptation of High-Rise and the horror film that has some chilling buzz, The Witch, are all included. Check out the full listing below and wait with anticipation for our coverage of the festival!

Any genre fan attending Fantastic Fest 2015 is going to lose their collective minds. The international madness (in addition to the first wave I reported on last month) that is going to descend upon Austin is jaw dropping. Opening night will feature the Us Premiere of Yorgos Lanthimos' The Lobster, a multi-country production that focuses on the surreal examination of human connections. Fantastic Fest will also host the World Premiere of Lazer Team, the first feature from web series maestros Rooster Teeth. Director Matt Hullum and cast members Burnie Burns, Alan Ritchson, Colton Dunn, Michael Jones, and Gavin Free will be in attendance to celebrate the highly anticipated sci-fi comedy and join Fantastic Fest's official opening night party, presented by Rooster Teeth. Returning champions of oddball cinema...

Despite its comical reputation, Rooster Teeth's Achievement Hunter (aka Ah) doesn’t always just poke fun at other of its gaming team members or make jokes about male anatomy. At one of its many panels this year at the annual Rtx convention, the Ah team, known for their Let's Play and all-around gaming content on YouTube, answered fans’ most pressing questions, including a very serious one about dealing with depression and another about the future of the team’s in-person events.
The panel started off with audience members bringing piles of gifts to the front of the ballroom for the Ah team (like alcohol, drawings, and gaming memorabilia), an act which has become something of a yearly tradition at Ah's Rtx events. Then, the Ah team, which boasts a collective total of 3.9 million subscribers across two YouTube channels, started taking questions from fans. Many audience members asked your typical queries,...
