“This is the perfect opportunity for us to make reality ‘real’ again,” says Peter Tierney, the commissioner who has spent the past two years overseeing ITV’s rebooted Big Brother.
Speaking as ITV prepares to become the third UK network to premiere the world-beating format, Tierney says his team have listened relentlessly to audiences “telling us that they want real, authentic reality.”
“They are aware of the way in which [some of] these shows are made, the directions you can push contestants in and the hands of the producer,” he adds. “But Big Brother presents us with the perfect opportunity to make reality ‘real’ again, providing a better opportunity for an environment that is conducive to real life than many other reality shows afford you.”

Big Brother has found its third British home, ITV, with the network teasing the news – one of the UK TV industry’s worst kept secrets of the past few months – during the final of tonight’s Love Island season eight.
The format aired on Channel 4 from 2000 to 2010 and Paramount-owned Channel 5 from 2010 to 2018, with ITV’s reboot set to hit British screens in 2023.
As with Love Island, the Banijay format will air on ITV portfolio channel ITV2 along with soon-to-launch streamer Itvx and is a huge coup for the commercial broadcaster.
Airing on CBS in the U.S., the format involves several housemates living in a house together for weeks, competing in challenges as they are voted off one-by-one, with the public watching their every move.
It was teased during the final ad break of tonight’s Love Island, ITV’s biggest reality show.

Nikki Grahame has hit out at Celebrity Big Brother housemates Farrah Abraham and Jenna Jameson - describing them as "pure poison".
Nikki - who has recently launched a new clothing line for Jyy London - explained that she likes Chloe-Jasmine but is not a fan of Farrah.
"She's just poison, pure poison - and Jenna is even worse," she said. "They're horrid, the pair of them are horrid. If I see them at Big Brother's Bit On The Side I wouldn't even look in their direction - I hate them both.
"I actually think that Jenna is worse than Farrah because she's been very two-faced whilst she's been watching the rest of the house - some of the things she's been saying."
But Nikki had kinder words for another housemate, saying: "I actually really want Janice Dickinson to win. She's me in 40 years time and she doesn't give a f**k,...

Nikki and Harry clashed after the legendary housemate got close with Nick Henderson during her time in the house.
Big Brother Harry Amelia Martin interview: 'I get pissed off at people who bulls**t'
Speaking to Digital Spy, Harry said: "I've always stated that Nikki was blatantly using Nick to get to me, and if Nikki had a problem with me, she should have had it out with me.
"Helen very much understood this, but I felt like because Nikki is portrayed as the queen of Big Brother who can never do anything wrong, no matter what she does - she can call everyone every name under the sun - she'll never be told off and she'll never have anything said about it because she is apparently so sweet and so nice.

Former Big Brother housemate Charley Uchea has booked into Hotel Bb - and managed to catch Marc O'Neill's eye.
As part of this week's shopping task, the house has been transformed into a hotel, with housemates split into VIP guests (Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace, Danny Wisker, Chloe Wilburn and Joel Williams) and employees.
Big Brother Day 48: Who had a good day, and who had a bad day?
In highlights airing tonight (June 30), Big Brother 8 contestant Charley is excitedly greeted by Aisleyne.
Marc later tells Sam: "[Charley's] my type. [Aisleyne's] whole personality is as fake as her tits. It's just showing me she's an idiot."
Charley and Aisleyne have a little gossip about the boys in the house, with Aisleyne saying that she's just friends with Danny. Charley comments that Cristian Mjc is good-looking but lacks a personality.
Charley then catches Marc looking at her and asks why. He responds: "You only fall in love once.

Big Brother's Helen Wood has argued that editing made her seem worse than she actually was, claiming that Nikki Grahame had a formal warning that was not aired.
Writing in her Daily Star column, the 2014 winner expressed frustration at some of the reaction that she has received.
"Throughout my time in the house, I was called 'evil', 'poison', 'pond scum' and had my parenting skills questioned about the one person I treasure most in this world," she said. "I have a potty mouth. That is my crime.
"To be called 'spawn of Satan', 'slut', 'wench' constantly, it is completely unwarranted. I'm sick to death with people thinking it's fine to slate me all the time like I'm made of stone.
"They pressed my buttons. That was not shown. So when I explode, it appears as if it's come out of nowhere. Similarly, Nikki got a formal warning, not shown.

Big Brother's Danny Wisker has been given a warning after being aggressive towards Marc O'Neill.
The pair had been bickering during a task earlier in the day (Friday, June 26) with Marc describing Danny as a wasp: "Always buzzing about when I am having an argument."
That continued when the task had finished, with Marc again comparing Danny to a wasp.
But it was after Helen Wood, Nikki Grahame and Simon Gross left the house that the arguing really kicked off.
Marc started talking to Nick Henderson about how much he wants to win, when Danny replied: "Who cares."
Marc then reminded Danny of their conversation earlier in the day and how annoyed he gets at Danny always interrupting.
Danny replied that he thinks Marc is looking for an argument and got even more frustrated when Marc once again asked Nick how much he wants to win.
He told Marc:...

The Big Brother house will host some famous faces as part of the latest Timebomb twist.
For one week, the house will be turned into the Hotel from Hell, with notorious celebrities joining the housemates in the compound.
During tonight's show (June 26), Emma Willis revealed that the first guest that the remaining contestants will need to endure is horse-racing commentator (and former Celebrity Big Brother villain) John McCririck.
McCririck's opinionated ways – and unashamed nose-picking habits – made him a controversial character following the third series of the celebrity spin-off show in 2005.
The 75-year-old will join the house on Monday (June 29), with further celebrities to follow.
Tonight, Simon Gross became the ninth housemate to be evicted via public vote.
Legendary housemates Nikki Grahame and Helen Wood were also removed from the group as their Timebomb adventure came to an end.
Big Brother continues tomorrow at 9pm on Channel 5.

Big Brother Timewarp housemates Helen Wood and Nikki Grahame have left the house.
The pair, who returned this year in a Timebomb twist alongside other past housemates, exited one by one after their relationship soured.
Simon Gross was evicted by the public earlier tonight (June 26).
Helen was the first of the legends to leave, and was met with a deafening chorus of boos from the crowd.
"It was more difficult than last year's house," she told Emma Willis. "It was a lot younger and I've never been around so many sensitive people!"
"(Being controversial) wasn't my intention this year, but I probably came across worse than I did before," Helen added.
When Willis mentioned her confrontation with Brian, Helen became defensive: "He took every single opportunity to say something horrible to me," she replied.
"I think Brian is a bully himself (and) he blamed me and Marc for absolutely everything.

This series can be split into two distinct parts: before the '4 In 4 Out' twist and after. What used to be a show about the housemates trying to get along and having some fun along the way has turned into one filled with rage, hatred and aggressive confrontations.
It's interesting. The drama does generate more talking points, but at the same time, seeing housemates verbally abused like that also makes for uncomfortable viewing.
Earlier this week, on Day 43, Brian Belo made his shocking exit - climbing over the wall in the Sky Room, no less - after being called a "rapist slash murderer" by Helen Wood. It was a moment that will undoubtedly be remembered years from now.
But Big Brother made no attempt to intervene. In fact, it was partly to blame by making the housemates play an antagonising game. And Helen only received a formal warning hours later.
It's interesting. The drama does generate more talking points, but at the same time, seeing housemates verbally abused like that also makes for uncomfortable viewing.

It's confirmed - Helen Wood and Nikki Grahame will leave the Big Brother house tonight.
Channel 5 revealed today that the 'legendary' Time Warp housemates, who entered a fortnight ago, will be walking out during tonight's eviction show.
Their exit comes shortly after Time Warp housemate Brian Belo escaped the house by climbing over the wall.
He was replaced on Wednesday by Big Brother 7 star Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace, whose arrival sparked further arguments among the housemates.
Helen, Nikki and Brian were initially only meant to stay in the house for a week, but producers decided to extend their visit last Friday.
Viewers will now be able to get an insight on Helen and Nikki's time in the house as Emma Willis will interview them once they've walked out of the front door.
Their exits will come during tonight's eviction show, which will also see either Cristian Mjc, Harry Amelia Martin, Sam Kay,...

Big Brother's Jack McDermott has expressed his desire to win the series.
In highlights airing tonight (June 26), the housemate admits to feeling nervous about this week's eviction but intends to stay true to himself.
"I am very nervous for tomorrow night," Jack says. "I'm kind of looking forward to the rush of it.
"I'm having to mentally prepare myself that I'm going to walk out the door, but I really want to stay. I passionately want to win. I'm going to try and be me."
Earlier, Jack predicted that Simon Gross could leave for spending too much time in Helen Wood's company.
Nikki Grahame speculates that "hanging out with poison" will harm Simon's chances of staying in the house, to which Jack adds: "Could be guilty by association."
Simon is unhappy with these comments, talking back: "When I get out of here, I'll argue my case because that's ridiculous.

Big Brother's latest arrival Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace already had a feud with Helen Wood - and then she discovered that her rival was behind Brian Belo's exit.
Brian scaled the walls of the house and quit earlier this week after an argument with Helen, in which she compared him to a murderer and a rapist, and taunted him and Nikki about their mental health.
Aisleyne joined the housemates yesterday but was horrified when Nikki Grahame filled her in on Helen Wood's comments.
Later, she went to the Diary Room to vent, admitting: "I'm raging.
"No wonder the poor boy scaled the walls. I feel like crying. I wanted to bring happiness, positivity, good energy and all that happens is arguments and strife."
Aisleyne continued: "Everyone's scared of Helen. They're petrified to have an opinion that negates Helen's opinion. It's pathetic and it's a shame. This is their...

Nikki Grahame has stood up to Helen Wood, calling her fellow housemate "pure poison".
In highlights airing tonight (June 25), Nikki finds her voice after the shock entrance of Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace.
After Nikki interrupts a conversation Helen is having, Helen says: "You've found a tongue since your rat-bag mate has moved in.
"Now someone who's from the Z-list like you has walked in, you think you're better than everyone else again."
"If I'm on the Z-list, that makes you unclassified," responds Nikki. "You're a horrible human being. You made Brian [Belo] leave this house. You antagonised him out of this house."
In a later conversation, Helen tells Nikki: "I don't think Aisleyne is the problem. It's you.
"You've had to have special treatment because you think you're different to every other housemate."

Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace marked her entrance into the Big Brother house by awarding Helen Wood basic rations.
In highlights airing tonight (June 25), the housemates experience an entire year in one day as part of this week's shopping task.
At the end of the task, they open a large Christmas present to find Aisleyne inside as Santa's little helper. Aisleyne has the final say on who should receive the luxury budget and who should receive rations.
Nikki Grahame, Chloe Wilburn, Danny Wisker, Jack McDermott, Harry Amelia Martin, Cristian Mjc, Nick Henderson and Sam Kay are gifted the budget, leaving Helen, Marc O'Neill, Simon Gross and Joel Williams on basics.

Big Brother's 'legendary' housemates Helen Wood and Nikki Grahame haven't seen eye to eye much recently - and yesterday their relationship deteriorated even further.
Nikki spent the night before in a separate room after freaking out during the housemates' food fight, with Helen telling Marc O'Neill: "She had a panic attack."
When Nikki returned to the house, no-one reacted at first, although Brian Belo and Simon Gross eventually welcomed her back.
However, Helen went to the Diary Room to complain about Nikki, saying: "She's so full of s**t. You knew we were breaking a rule and you knew we'd be punished for it. You wanted to get out of it."

Does anyone in the Big Brother house like poor Mr Showbiz?
In highlights airing tonight (June 24), both Nikki Grahame and Jack McDermott complain about Simon Gross behind his back.
Simon welcomes Nikki back after she spent the night in Big Brother's spare room. But she tells Brian Belo that she doesn't trust him.
"I know [Helen] doesn't like me, so he's just running in between the pair of us," she says. "I don't trust him as far as I can throw him. I'm not a hard bitch that can put up with things."
Jack later talks to Big Brother in the Diary Room with his own views on Simon.
"[Helen and Marc are] very hypocritical. Complete idiots," he comments. "Simon is so far up their arse it's embarrassing.
"He's a 46-year-old man. He's fake as f**k. I find him so frustrating. The constant reassurance, that's just a pain in the arse."
Even Helen Wood mocks him.

Brian Belo quit the Big Brother house in style - by climbing over the wall.
Brian had enough of the compound after yet another argument with Helen Wood and Marc O'Neill during a game of "Who's most likely to..."
Tensions were high from early on in the task as Marc accused Brian and Nikki Grahame of being in the house for the money and Brian complained about Helen: "When I'm in your company, around the pair of you, my energy gets so subtracted. I cannot be myself around you. You tag team people. You work in cahoots."
As the conversation continued, Helen told Brian: "You're gonna lose it again aren't you. Look at the aggression in your face."
The housemates managed to calm down the situation and returned to the game, only for Nikki and Brian to suggest that Helen is the housemate most likely to marry for money.

Brian Belo seems quite happy with his decision to leave the Big Brother house as he's just posted on Twitter that he's "free".

We're not quite sure what "take it to the wall" means but we do definitely understand the hashtag "#free".
Is it too much for us to hope that it's a sign he climbed over the wall à la Sandy and Donny Tourette?
Brian had continually clashed with his fellow 'legendary' housemate Helen Wood and an argument between the pair last night - in which he called her "pond scum" - may have been the final straw.

There is no twist. All eight Big Brother housemates who were nominated in the last few days will face the public vote.
The nominations tagging began last Friday when the evicted Jade Lynch chose Cristian Mjc.
Cristian nominated Sam Kay, before one by one Harry Amelia Martin, Simon Gross, Jack McDermott, Joel Williams, Danny Wisker and finally Nick Henderson were selected for possible eviction.
Chloe Wilburn was the only housemate who escaped nomination.
Marc O'Neill is immune alongside fellow Time Warp housemates Helen Wood, Nikki Grahame and Brian Belo.
This is the first time Jack and Nick are facing the public vote. Jack previously used his immunity passes to save himself twice.
Voting lines will open during tonight's (June 23) Big Brother episode, where viewers will see the final two nominations.

Big Brother's Harry Amelia Martin and Nick Henderson have struggled to resolve their argument.
In highlights airing tonight (June 23), the atmosphere in the house is notably tense after the pair had a falling out during Nick's birthday party the previous day.
Marc O'Neill takes Nick's side, believing that because Nick was celebrating his birthday, he should get the benefit of the doubt.
"On our birthday, we get a free pass," he says in the Diary Room. "You just forgive all our sins."
Describing Harry as clingy, he adds: "My advice to Nick: put on your best running shoes and sprint like Linford Christie."
In the smoking area, Nick attempts to make peace with Harry, but she comments: "Better I know where your loyalties lie now rather than later."
"Harry, it's impossible to speak to you," Nick responds. "I'm trying to speak to you about it, and you're having a go at me.

Big Brother's Nick Henderson and Harry Amelia Martin haven't had the easiest relationship in the house thanks to the other contestants questioning Harry's motives.
But things got even worse yesterday when the pair started arguing - on Nick's birthday.
It all started when Nick and Harry were talking about Jack being nominated and nominating Joel Williams, and Nick said: "I felt sorry for him when you were laughing like that."
Harry explained that she was actually laughing at Helen Wood making faces and got annoyed, before leaving to go to the bedroom by herself.
Nick appeared annoyed and said: "She can do what she wants. I'm not going to fight with her."
But Nick didn't help himself by cuddling Nikki Grahame in bed later, as earlier on in the day Harry had suggested that he would prefer to be sitting with Nikki during his birthday party.

Big Brother forced Nikki Grahame to be the waitress at Nick Henderson's birthday party yesterday... and it seems that she might need some customer service training.
Nikki ended up being the waitress after competing with Harry Amelia Martin to impress Nick the most on his special day.
The day saw Harry giving Nick a massage while Nikki treated him to a face mask, the pair both painting portraits of him, and the duo composing musical treats - Nikki sang Nick a song based on him being a swan, while Harry performed a "saucy rap".
In the end, Nick was forced to choose which of the women would be his guest of honour and he picked Harry, joking that he was too frightened to choose anyone else.
The news meant that Nikki would have to be the waitress and it was quite clear that she was not happy about Big Brother...

Big Brother had a humdinger of a twist lined up for tonight as BB7 legend Aisleyne Horgan-Wallace was expected to go into the house to confront her nemesis Helen Wood.
She spoke to Digital Spy, the tabloids covered the news... but now Channel 5 has confirmed to DS that she won't be going in tonight. So what happened?
We don't know the exact reasons for Aisleyne's decision to pull out of tonight's show, but we're guessing that the prospect of going up against Helen - who had said in the house that she would spit in Aisleyne's face - may have had something to do with it.
We've heard that producers were still trying to convince Aisleyne to change her mind earlier today, but her absence tonight doesn't mean she's completely ruled out going into the house in the future.
In fact, the rumblings that we've heard are that...

Everyone was given a chance to get revenge on the Time Warp housemates in the Big Brother compound yesterday.
In highlights airing tonight (June 19), Marc O'Neill, Helen Wood, Nikki Grahame and Brian Belo fill in a questionnaire about everyone else.
They are later seated in the garden on chairs in front of the others.
The rest of the housemates then enjoy sweet revenge, as they are asked to pour numerous buckets of gloop over the foursome, while trying to guess which statements about them were said by which Time Warp housemate.
Nikki in particular does not enjoy the task, visibly squirming.
The housemates successfully pass the task. Everyone is rewarded with a dinner.

Big Brother's Time Warp week has already given us three ex-housemates in Helen Wood, Brian Belo and Nikki Grahame - but that wasn't quite enough, so as part of yesterday's shopping task, a whole bunch of other ones popped in for a party.
Yesterday's task demanded that the housemates freeze whenever instructed to do so - and conveniently, that's just when Big Brother decided to send in some familiar faces. But how many do you remember?
First up was Pete Bennett, who swung by the house to try to distract his former flame Nikki Grahame - and it looks like he managed to get her giggling.
But he was far from the only ex-housemate to pop in, as Big Brother 1's Craig Phillips led a whole host of familiar faces in for a bit of a party.
And there were loads of them, too: Jack and Joe, Mark and Matthew,...

Former Big Brother winner Pete Bennett made a surprise return to the house, shocking an emotional Nikki Grahame.
Pete, who appeared in the seventh series and dated Nikki, appeared as part of this week's shopping task.
Yesterday (June 17), the housemates were required to freeze in place whenever they hear the 'Time Warp' machine activating.
During one of the activations, Pete entered and made a beeline for Nikki, who struggled to keep her composure.
He spent his brief time in the house talking at Nikki, at one point applying lipstick and giving his ex-girlfriend a kiss on the cheek.

Jade Lynch has become the fourth housemate up for this week's Big Brother eviction.
The Irish model will now face the public vote alongside Harry Amelia Martin, Chloe Wilburn and Cristian Mjc.
The latest nomination happened at the dinner table, when Big Brother asked Marc O'Neill, Helen Wood, Nikki Grahame and Brian Belo to come to a decision.
Helen and Nikki both suggested Jade, but Brian - who has been seen getting cosy with her under the covers - was reluctant to go along with it.
"My concern here is, Jade has gone from bloke to bloke to bloke since she's been here," Nikki said. "That's apparent, and that has been discussed at length.
"I really like Jade, and she's a lovely girl. But I am worried because I care an awful lot about you, Brian, and I would hate for anyone to hurt you in front of me."

Nikki Grahame has a bone to pick with Big Brother, after being "traumatised" by the latest task.
In highlights airing tonight (June 17), the housemates are split into two teams with Helen Wood and Marc O'Neill captains of their respective sides.
The aim is to collect as many stopwatches as possible as they are dropped from Big Brother's sand timers.
Housemates can only leave the 'sticky pit' once they have collected a watch, but they must contend with paint, feathers, and various liquids falling down as well.
When it's Nikki's second turn in the pit, she struggles to compose herself, throwing a tantrum and repeatedly screaming. Her reluctance to try means that the opposing side - Helen's blue team - wins the task.
As Helen and her team are enjoying a special picnic as their reward, Nikki looks on in envy.
"I'm traumatised, and I think this is a bit too much,...

Cristian Mjc is the third Big Brother housemate up for eviction this week.
Revealed on Bit on the Side, the Bunker housemates - Marc O'Neill, Helen Wood, Nikki Grahame and Brian Belo - announced the nomination in the Diary Room.
"I like him a lot, and I'm not trying to brown-nose anyone," Marc explained. "I get along with Cristian and he's a good guy.
"But entertainment value, there's a cornflake out there on the floor that literally gives more to the house when it comes to personality."
The Irishman continued: "We have our ups and downs, but to be honest with you, I literally forgot his name while I was giving that speech."
The Bunker housemates previously put Harry Amelia Martin and Chloe Wilburn up to face the public vote.
Chloe's nomination caused a huge argument between Brian and Helen on Monday (June 15), when the former accused Helen and Marc of picking on Chloe.

Chloe Wilburn has become the second housemate nominated for this week's Big Brother eviction.
The Bunker housemates - Marc O'Neill, Helen Wood, Nikki Grahame and Brian Belo - came to the decision after they interviewed everyone as part of the day's task.
In highlights airing tonight (June 16), Chloe begins to cry after learning that she will face the public vote.
"What's wrong with being normal? It don't make me boring," she says, before Marc and Helen talk over her.
Brian interrupts his fellow Bunker housemates, stating: "We have just nominated her. We should give her the benefit of the doubt and let her say what she wants to say. Otherwise, we are just picking on this girl."
An argument breaks out between Brian and Helen, before Danny Wisker tries to defuse the situation.
Chloe eventually adds: "It's not the first time it's come up that I least deserve it, and...

Nikki later tells Big Brother in the Diary Room: "I can't believe what I just said. These lies have spiralled out of control.
"I can't believe he's buying everything I've said. I feel so evil... I told Jack that he's basically won the show. He believes me!"
Elsewhere, Helen Wood talks to Nikki about Cristian Mjc, unfavourably comparing him to a Ryvita.
"I'd sh*g Cristian and marry Nick," Nikki says.

"I'm never going to be a lovey-dovey person, unless it's in private."
Later, Nick is told by Nikki Grahame: "You've got to get away from that sea witch. This is your dream to be in Big Brother. You're wasting this time."
