"Humans are the greatest weakness in any security system." Peacock has revealed an official trailer for a film called Bosco, a prison escape thriller based on a true story. Finally something that might just live up to the classic Escape from Alcatraz! Hopefully. Based on the true story of Quawntay "Bosco" Adams, who also produced the film. Sentenced to 35 years for attempted possession of marijuana, Adams miraculously escaped from a Federal maximum-security prison in 2006 while under 24-hour surveillance in solitary with the help of a woman he met through a lonely-hearts ad. This features a compelling cast including Aubrey Joseph as "Bosco", Nikki Blonsky as "Tammy", Tyrese Gibson as "Tootie", Vivica A. Fox as "Willa", Theo Rossi as "Ramos", and Thomas Jane as "Hunt". Bosco will feature original music from leading hip-hop artists, including Snoop Dogg, French Montana, The Game, Ddg, & more. Looks solid though probably not a new prison escape classic.

Although there’s nothing that really fits the bill when it comes to Michelle Buteau’s new rom-com series Survival Of The Thickest, we’ve tried to make a compilation of shows that may scratch that itch the show left behind. This show is witty, comedic, emotional, and inclusive, and even tackles serious issues in the perfect way, leaving no crumbs. It’s like watching a 30-something coming-of-age show about a plus-size black woman trying to make it big in the looming fashion industry. Michelle is especially charismatic, even as she plays a loud and often clumsy protagonist. It’s an endearing quality, unlike some similar leads who come across as obnoxious and living in a fairy tale. While Netflix alone brings us a smorgasbord of shows that fit this category of “period time” cravings with romance, fashion, and all things cozy, they’re usually hit or miss. So let...

Christopher Walken is one of the most unique character actors of all time. Walken is renowned for his idiosyncratic mannerisms and has reinvented himself for audiences of many different generations. He has attracted some younger viewers with his frequent appearances on "Saturday Night Live" and Fatboy Slim's infamous "Weapon of Choice" music video.
Although Walken is largely associated with his comedic roles, he has delivered many riveting dramatic performances. At 79, Walken hasn't shown any signs that he is slowing down. He has recently found success on television with his roles as Burt Goodman on Apple TV+'s acclaimed science fiction series "Severance" and Frank Sheldon on Amazon Prime Video's crime series "The Outlaws." Nikki Blonsky made her professional acting debut as the star of 2007’s movie adaptation of “Hairspray” but her friendship with John Travolta carries just as much weight, if not more.
Blonsky made her acting debut starring alongside industry giants like Travolta, Queen Latifah, Christoper Walken, Allison Janey, Zac Efron, Amanda Bynes and James Marsden.
“Playing Tracy Turnblad was my first job in the entertainment business,” Blonsky told “Allison Interviews” host Allison Kugel. “Starring in ‘Hairspray’ was my first job outside of Cold Stone Creamery and babysitting.”
The long-term friendship she sparked with Travolta was an unexpected blessing.

If you thought Tracy Turnblad was ambitious, just wait until you hear about Nikki Blonsky's journey to playing the iconic character in the 2007 film adaption of Hairspray. After the Long Island native fell in love with the Tony-winning Broadway musical when she saw it for her 15th birthday, Blonsky had one goal and one goal only: Star in it herself. So she started regularly purchasing Backstage magazine to keep an eye on notices for open casting calls until finally she saw the message she had been waiting for. "I went in to audition and they brought me back three times," Blonsky exclusively told E! News. "I was super excited and then they were like, 'We love you, but you're just too young.'...

Director Ryan Murphy’s upcoming adaptation of the Broadway musical “The Prom” is timely, making strides for diversity and inclusion. With an all-star ensemble and two breakout stars in Jo Ellen Pellman and Ariana DeBose, the Netflix feature is in prime position to hit the zeitgeist when viewers begin streaming it in December.
“The Prom” can easily be envisioned as the movie that runs on repeat by high schoolers everywhere. If it were released in theaters under normal circumstances, it would have all the makings of a $150 million hit for a studio. From an awards season perspective, the movie is an obvious frontrunner for the Golden Globes comedy or musical races. Still, it can also make serious headway with the Academy voters, including best picture. Clearly Murphy’s best directing effort yet, it will be fascinating to see how the Academy, along with the general public, respond. I would expect...

If there’s anything to be said about Nikki Blonsky following her film debut in Hairspray it’s this: she still talks about it. "You are the only one stupid enough to show up..." Brutally honest line. A24 has debuted an official trailer for an indie drama titled The Last Movie Star, from writer/director Adam Rifkin. The film stars acting legend Burt Reynolds as acting legend Vic Edwards, an aging movie star who no longer has the same fame he once had. He's invited to a tiny, two-bit film festival in Nashville, and befriends his driver, who reminds him there's more to life than just being famous. This premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, but like most Tribeca films, we've never heard of it before now. Burt Reynolds made a rare public appearance on Saturday when he attended the premiere of his new film, Dog Years, at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

As you watch NBC's Hairspray Live! tonight, you may wonder, what happened to Nikki Blonsky? One minute the 28-year-old actress was playing Tracy Turnblad and dancing with Zac Efron and John Travolta in the 2007 musical film Hairspray, which marked her first onscreen acting role. Then you may have watched her as one of the leading stars of the short-lived ABC Family series Huge. In 2011, E! News learned Blonsky worked for a brief period at a shoe store in New York City and was later hired as a cosmetologist at a hair salon in her hometown of Great Neck on Long Island, New York. Ricki Lake didn’t grow up thinking she would ever play an ingenue.
“I remember telling my mom I wanted to be in Annie, and she told me, ‘You’re not the starving orphan type,’ ” the actress says in the current issue of People.
But at 18 years old, Lake won the starring role of plus-size optimist Tracy Turnblad in John Waters’s 1988 hit film Hairspray.
The part made Lake, 48, a star, but she had no idea her Tracy would inspire the young Marissa Jaret Winokur, who would go on to win a Tony for playing the character in the 2002 Broadway musical based on the film.

Though Melissa McCarthy's star went supernova just five years ago in a role so popular that she won both an Oscar nomination and an Emmy statue (Bridesmaids... oh please, you know the Emmy wasn't actually for Mike and Molly!) she's wasted approximately zero days since in cementing her unlikely place as a box office titan with star vehicles emerging annually since. Right now that means her new capitalist diva comedy The Boss and if it isn't Spy (2015) or The Heat (2013) level funny (sorry... but few things are) it's not bad. It sure as hell runs rings around Identity Thief (2013) and Tammy (2014) so it's firmly middle of the pack, if you ask me. (It's weird that the reviews so far are the worst of any of her solo vehicles.)
We call her place as a truly bankable actress 'unlikely' because it's just that. Guess how long it's been since audiences...

13 years ago today, Eminem began what remains his longest stay atop the Billboard Hot 100 when “Lose Yourself” reached No. 1. The rap hit held onto the top spot for 12 weeks. Written during breaks on set while filming “8 Mile,” the song loosely follows the storyline of the leading character’s struggle to break from poverty and launch a rap career. Eminem created an intense and memorable sound for the song with a moody electric guitar riff and his trademark tinkling piano punctuating hip-hop beats. Its stay atop the chart began a day after the theatrical release of “8 Mile.” The track was the first rap song to ever win an Oscar for Best Original Song, beating fellow nominees U2 and Paul Simon. Other notable November 9 happenings in pop culture history: • 1961: Brian Epstein, the Beatles’ famed manager, first saw a performance by the group that would become the Fab Four (though with Pete Best...

Who says people in a musical have to be able to sing? The list starts with a film directed by the director of Melancholia, Antichrist, and the recent Nymphomaniac films. Starring Björk, Dancer in the Dark takes place in the fantasy world of Selma, an immigrant from the Czeck Republic living in a blue-collar town in the United States. She lives on the property of a local police officer named Bill (David Morse) and his wife. She finds herself the object of a shy co-worker’s affection (Peter Stormare), but doesn’t entirely reciprocate, partly because she knows that she is slowly going blind. Terrified that her disease is hereditary and her son most certainly will get it, she works long hours at the factory,...

Even though a lot of us have put our coming out process behind us, there are also a lot of people, young and old, who are dealing with it now or will very soon and the new film, Geography Club, is the kind of movie that appeals to everyone.
Based on former AfterElton editor Brent Hartinger’s first book in the Russel Middlebrook series, the film version was written by Edmund Entin and directed by his brother, Gary Entin. The central role of Russel is played by Cameron Dean Stewart (Pitch Perfect) who brings a realness and honesty to his portrayal of a teenager trying desperately to connect with other people.

Et's Rocsi Diaz sat down exclusively with Hairspray star Nikki Blonsky in which she set the record straight regarding the images of her sweeping the floor in a hair salon.
Blonsky explains that she did not work in the salon but rather was helping a friend, stating, "I actually never worked in a salon. That was a story that was out there and it wasn't true, but it's funny the things that people make up when you're not working. I had just gotten my hair done and my friend said, 'Hey can you put makeup on me? I'm going to a wedding.'" She goes on to say, "People think I do so many different things. Some people ask me if I still scoop ice cream because I used to work at Cold Stone Creamery before Hairspray. Some people think I'm on set 24/7. People think all crazy things. If I switch this ring to this finger, I'm instantly...
