In the new crime drama, "Triple 9," Anthony Mackie plays a corrupt cop who pulls bank robberies on the side and isn't happy when he's saddled with a straitlaced new partner, played by Casey Affleck.
The great cast includes Kate Winslet as a ruthless Russian mob boss, Woody Harrelson as Affleck's uncle -- who's also a cop -- and Chiwetel Ejiofor, Norman Reedus and Aaron Paul as members of Mackie's bank-robbing gang.
Mackie sat down with Moviefone to talk about his favorite heist movie, the deleted scenes he hopes resurface on the DVD, and hanging with "Mr. Atlanta," T.I.
Moviefone: This has a terrific heist scene in it -- so what's your favorite heist movie?
Anthony Mackie: Eddie Murphy did this movie called "Harlem Nights." The premise was that the mob was bullying them and they had to pay a fee to do business in Harlem. And they turn...

Making its world premiere at the SXSW Film Festival next month is director Quincy 'QD3' Jones' feature documentary "The Art of Organized Noize," which follows pioneers of the Dirty South music movement, Organized Noize, who are responsible for Outkast, CeeLo, the Goodie Mob and the Dungeon Family. Their production shaped the landscape of hip-hop with their own distinctive sound, created in the confines of a dungeon. Telling the story of the rise and fall of music's most prolific unsung heroes, the film features interviews with Andre 3000, Big Boi, Puff Daddy, Future, Ludacris, La Reid, 2 Chainz, CeeLo and more. It is executive produced by Queen Latifah and Shakim...

Future has a long history with Outkast, so it's no surprise that the Atlanta rapper — who releases his sophomore album, "Honest," on Tuesday — played a 10-minute set during the legendary MCs' comeback concert at the opening weekend of the Coachella Music Festival earlier this month.
Future was able to watch Big Boi and André 3000's rise to superstardom from behind the scenes, thanks to his big cousin, Rico Wade, whose Organized Noize production outfit is responsible for classics from Outkast, TLC, En Vogue, and Goodie Mob, among others.

A few months ago, if you didn't live in or near Atlanta, you would be hard-pressed to know who Future was. However, if you did live in or near Atlanta, you be hard-pressed not to hear one of his songs on the radio every five minutes with "Magic," "Ain't No Way Around It," "Go Harder" and "Never Been This High," to name a few.
Now, he's getting national recognition as a contender for MTV News' Hottest Breakthrough Mc.
Future was the hook man on Yc's "Racks," which was probably the most infectious track of the first part of this year. However, the rest of the country got the memo in early July when Drake hopped on a remix of the Atl-ien's "Tony Montana.

The future is unpredictable, but Nayvadius "Future" Cash is taking all bets. The Atlanta spitter broke out in late 2010, appearing on Yc's club hit "Racks" and segueing into rap's collective conscious with his own party starter "Watch This." Known for his repetitive and catchy hooks, plus his melodic bars, Future has earned himself a spot on MTV Jams' 2011 Fab 5 roster.
Conceived in 2005 on MTV Jams, the Fab 5 is a collection of the year's most outstanding new hip-hop artists who have made a visual impact on the road to releasing their debut albums. Fab 5 alumni include Juelz Santana, Tony Yayo, Paul Wall, Young Jeezy, Kid Cudi, Drake and 2011's first inductee, Big Sean. Following Amy Winehouse's passing on Saturday, July 23, fellow artists M.I.A. and Big Boi released a tribute song each. The "Paper Planes" hitmaker dropped an unfinished demo called "27", which is the age when Amy died.
"I took you to the clinic/ To get you clean but you couldn't," the 36-year-old singer croons the lyrics full of grief, referring to Amy's struggle to stay sober during these past years. "Your friendship did mean something/ But you left me for nothing."
The OutKast member, meanwhile, made public an unreleased Organized Noize Dungeon Family remix of Amy's single "Tears Dry on Their Own". He wrote on Twitter, "Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and now Amy Winehouse. All died aged 27. Rip to you all."
Other artists who mourned Amy's death included Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry. RiRi tweeted a picture of herself posing with Amy and wrote, "I...

Before Big Boi became Sir Lucious Leftfoot and back when Andre 3000 was just a dude named Dre, Outkast were an up-and-coming hip-hop tag-team from Atlanta whose 1994 debut Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik grabbed some attention for its gritty flavor and head-spinning wordplay. But Outkast completely changed the game (and hinted at the boundary-destroying monster they would become) with their follow-up album ATLiens, which was released on this day in 1996.
In the history of hip-hop, ATLiens ranks among the most fitting titles of all time, as it combined the tropes of the Dirty South with a forward-thinking sci-fi mindset where anything was possible. But ATLiens also described the group's place in the hip-hop universe. Back in '96, Atlanta was a fairly insular music community (not like today, where it is one of the key taste-making cities in rap). With a mainstream music market dominated by Death Row style gangsta rap and Biggie Smalls-fueled East Coast grit,...

This week, Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker endorses Big Boi's latest masterpiece.
Though Travis Barker is best known as the guy who keeps the time for pop-punk icons Blink-182, his musical endeavors have stretched far wider than that. He has worked with a number of hip-hop artists (including Paul Wall, Soulja Boy, Drake, Black Eyed Peas and Bun B), ventured into the world of dance music (his collaborations with the late DJ Am) and put together...

Big Boi finally delivered his long-awaited solo album, Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty, this week. But after taking three years to deliver the LP, is it safe for fans to assume Big's next effort is just around the corner? Not exactly.
The slick Atlanta Mc says he's started work on a follow-up, Daddy Fat Sax, but between promoting his current collection and juggling a handful of projects — his next set, partner Andre 3000's solo disc and another Outkast album — Big Boi is juggling a lot right now or, as he put it, "tinkering."
"I got about four, five songs that I'm tinkering with right now," Big Boi told MTV News about Daddy Fat Sax, tentatively slated for a late-2011 release.

New York — "VH1 Hip Hop Honors: The Dirty South" might have represented Atlanta, Texas, Miami, New Orleans and everywhere in between, but all points were a unified front for the event Thursday night (June 3) at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
"I always say the East Coast is one piece of bread, and the West Coast is another piece of bread," honoree J. Prince of Rap-a-Lot Records said during the tribute. "And the South is the meat. I describe it that way, 'cause everyone has roots in the South."
Drake, Bun B, the Game, Juvenile and the Geto Boys' Willie D all performed as a part of the Rap-a-Lot set. Drake paid homage to the late Pimp C as he and Bun joined forces for "Get Throwed.

At its zenith, Master P's No Limit Records was cranking out albums like a factory and collecting plaques that matched the gold and platinum tanks that dangled from P's chains. His business plan was simple, succinct and, to some, foolish.
These days, however, P is hailed as a pioneer for his decision to flood the market — beginning in the early 1990s — with a steady stream of his own albums, as well as projects by Tru, Mia X and a bevy of New Orleans talent. His business acumen helped pave the way for Cash Money, Young Money, Grand Hustle and a host of Southern labels.

VH1 is getting more real -- and shockingly unshocking -- with an across-the-board programming revamp that will include producing a record 44 original series this year, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Eschewing Flavor of Love and its ilk for more "authenticity" in its upcoming new reality, VH1 will bring viewers dozens of new shows such as You're Cut Off, which aims to reform spoiled party girls, and Money Hungry, in which contestants can lose up to $10,000 of their own cash if they don't cut calories. A whopping 40 percent of programming will return to the network's original focus, music, starting with brand...
