The Republican National Committee is threatening to boycott the next general election presidential debates, even though the next matchup of the nominees won’t take place for more than three years.
RNC chairwoman Ronna McDaniel’s letter to the Commission on Presidential Debates calls for a series of changes, including on how the commission selects debate moderators and on the scheduling of the events.
But the letter also airs a list of grievances that could have come from Donald Trump himself. The former president railed against the commission, a bipartisan body set up in 1988 to host the debates, not just last year but in 2016.
During the most recent cycle, the most significant flare-up was over the planned second debate, which was to be in a town hall format. But after Trump contracted Covid-19, the commission altered plans and switched the format to a virtual event. After Trump rejected the change,...

Fox News Sunday anchor Chris Wallace, moderator of the season’s first presidential debate on September 29, has selected the six topics that President Donald Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden will face.
The topics are the Trump and Biden records, the Supreme Court, Covid-19, the economy, race and violence in our cities and the integrity of the election. The topics might not be in the order that they are listed.
The Commission on Presidential Debates said that the debate will feature six 15-minute segments, for a total of 90 minutes.
The first debate will take place at Case Western Reserve University and Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland.

There was some criticism to the choice of topics for excluding climate change, which also was barely discussed during the 2016 general election debates.

The Jeffrey Epstein story has all the trappings of a salacious news story: power, wealth, sex, abuse, celebrity, and corruption. But even though we know most of the details of Epstein’s fall from grace, culminating in his 2019 prison suicide under mysterious circumstances, we know relatively little about the man himself. A new Netflix limited series, Filthy Rich, attempts to shed light on the inner workings of the disgraced financier while also trying to give voice to his many victims.

President Donald Trump sat down with C-span for a wide-ranging interview that touched on everything from accusations that he’s a racist to his disdain for certain media outlets.
After being asked about his near non-stop tweeting, Trump said he uses the platform to communicate directly with the public and to respond to the “dishonest” news media.
“If I got fair coverage, I wouldn’t even have to tweet,” he told C-span host Steve Scully. “It’s my only form of defense.”

Trump criticized CNN, then ripped NBC, which aired The Apprentice.
“CNN is 100 percent negative,” he said. “NBC is negative. I made a lot of money for NBC with The Apprentice. It was a tremendous success at a time when they didn’t have any successes. But they forgot about that very quickly. And they wanted to extend me. … I wanted to run for president. I think I’ve done a great job.

A show for Anthony Scaramucci and Michael Avenatti has not been announced, but over the weekend, the former White House communications director couldn’t help crack the door a bit on speculation, saying that he would certainly be “open” to the idea if anything concrete materialized.
“If … somebody actually laid out a proposal, and I could see what the guidelines were, I’m open to a lot of different things,” Scaramucci told C-Span political editor Steve Scully on Sunday. “Would I want a show with him? Nothing has ever really come up of that.”
“I do think Michael is a formidable competitor,” he added, praising the television presence of the attorney. “He’s the kind of guy I would want on my team frankly.”
