Tihemme Gagnon is a screenwriter and factual entertainment story editor based in Vancouver, BC. Most recently, she was a writer, producer and executive producer of the 2023 APTN feature documentary "re-ken-si-le-a-shen," an exposé of how the Canadian Indigenous experience compares to other worldwide atrocities. Prior to that, she was a story editor for History Channel's "Deadman's Curse;" APTN's "Queen of the Oil Patch," including the Canadian Screen Award-nominated episode "Girl Brain;" and APTN's documentary series "1491: The History of the Americas Before Columbus." She is the screenwriter of four feature projects currently in funded development, including the multiple-award winning "PB&J," rated in the top 2% on Coverfly.
Tihemme's documentary series "Chaos & Courage" premiered on APTN in February 2014, and ran two seasons. She was nominated for the 2014 Leo Award for Best Screenwriting in a Documentary Program or Series for her work with "Chaos & Courage," which was also nominated for a 2014 AMPIA (Rosie) Award in the Best Documentary Series category. In 2016, she won the Media Award for Excellence in Journalism from the Association of Ontario Midwives for her work on the series.
Tihemme's reality and lifestyle story editing credits include HGTV's "Love It or List It - Vancouver" (III & IV), "Love It or List It - Vacation Homes" (I), and "Timber Kings (IV);" Slice Network's "Crash Test Mommy" (IV & V); and Discovery's "Diagnose Me" (I) and "Outrageous Births" (I). Between 2007 and 2009, she wrote for Slice Network's documentary series "X-Weighted" (III & IV). In February 2010, Tihemme's Remi-award winning documentary "Heroine Healers" aired on APTN. Her short "Amy's End" was awarded best short film at the 2010 ThrillSpy Int'l Film Festival in Washington, DC.
Tihemme has taught screenwriting at various post-secondary institutions since 2009, including Vancouver Film School, Capilano University, Vancouver Community College, InFocus Film School and Blue Quills University. She is the proud mother of four grown children and grandmother of three. She is of English, Irish and Assiniboine (Dakota Territories) descent.
