The upcoming "Sesame Street" special, "Families Stand Together: Feeling Secure in Tough Times," features real-life families talking about their real economic situations, unusually heavier fare than regular "Sesame Street" episodes. But although this special does feature appearances from the "Sesame Street" gang, this special doesn't feature basic addition with the Count. Instead, it features two parental units talking about budgeting their 00 income when their mortgage payment is nearly 00.
The special is aimed towards families to watch together and includes some powerful lessons for both parents and children, including how to talk about financial problems and ideas on how to save money. The special, hosted by Al Roker and Deborah Roberts, features segments with financial expert Jean Chatzky and parenting and relationship expert Dr. Joshua Coleman offering advice to parents.
Kids won't understand talk about foreclosures or short sales, but the special contrasts the heavier, more emotional moments with a few clips of Elmo and friends.
