Charlie Rose has been accused of sexual harassment by eight women.
The longtime TV host, who co-anchors CBS This Morning in addition to hosting a PBS talk show, is accused of unwanted sexual advances -- including groping, lewd phone calls and nudity -- according to the women who have come forward to The Washington Post. The accusers all say they are former employees or aspiring employees of Rose, and the alleged incidents are from the late 1990s to as recently as 2010.
Five women spoke on condition of anonymity to the Post, while three came forward on the record: Rose's former assistant Kyle Godfrey-Ryan, former Charlie Rose show coordinator Megan Creydt and former intern Reah Bravo.
Et has reached out to Rose's rep. Since the Post story ran, the anchor has been suspended by CBS, PBS and reportedly Bloomberg as well.

In Thursday’s Grey’s Anatomy, Nathan, taking Meredith’s suggestion that he make a “grand gesture” to prove his love to Megan, reunited her with son Farouk; Jackson inherited a quarter of a billion dollars from his grandfather and inched closer to a romance with Maggie — till Catherine referred to her as his sister; Arizona had no sooner gotten finished reassuring April that she’d get used to nights away from Harriet than she got a text saying that Sofia wanted to move back to Seattle; Jo asked that Mer exclude her name from an article on Megan’s operation,...

When the fire with which Grey’s Anatomy concluded last season was put out, Bailey thought that the worst was over. But in Thursday’s episode, she learned that she’d thought wrong. Very wrong. The arrival of Jackson’s grandpa, Harper Avery, to assess the damage done — to his foundation’s bank balance more than to the hospital — led to one of Grey Sloan’s finest getting sacked. And, given Amelia’s diagnosis in the Season 14 premiere — coupled with her determination to keep her condition a secret — that first dismissed doctor’s head wasn’t necessarily the only one on the chopping block.

Standing before the packed house at Manhattan’s Metrograph Theater, “Patti Cake$” director Geremy Jasper introduced his film. He was excited, in the way that first-time directors often are at their premieres, thanking his producers, his cast, his reps — but the most heartfelt thanks went to distributor Fox Searchlight. Not only did it make his Jersey girl-rapper tale one of the biggest buys of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival, but it also represented a genuine dream come true. When the “Patti Cake$” team imagined their ideal distributor, he said, they agreed that nothing could be better than becoming a Fox Searchlight movie.
Headstones in the graveyard of studio specialty divisions include Warner Independent, Picturehouse, Fine Line Features, Paramount Classics, Paramount Vantage, and beyond. However, Fox Searchlight has persevered, and succeeded, for more than 20 years: Savvy, innovative, and astute, it’s known for its skill in finding acquisitions that reached audiences beyond the arthouse.

ABC confirmed Dominczyk’s casting, but declined to specify how many episodes she’ll be around for or who she will be playing. They did, however, reveal her character’s name: Eliza Minnick (which means she’s definitely not Owen’s sister, whose name — as reader...

Chicago – “The Girl On The Train” is a decent enough “Book Club” movie potboiler – it passes the time away, but never quite rises above the pulpiness of its source material. It desperately wants to recreate the suburban upper-class ennui and tone from last year’s “Gone Girl.” But while that film had David Fincher behind the camera, this one has Tate Taylor, the director of “The Help.”
Rating: 3.0/5.0
The film stars Emily Blunt as Rachel, an alcoholic British ex-pat sipping vodka from a water bottle, and fantasizing about the life she once led in the tony upstate New York Suburb of Ardsley-On-Hudson. She takes the train into Manhattan twice a day, staring at her ex-husband (Justin Theroux), his new wife and their daughter in the house she used to share. She also becomes obsessed with the young couple next door, Megan (Haley Bennett) and her hunky husband Scott (Luke Evans...

MaryAnn’s quick take…
An imperfect adaptation of an uncinematic novel is nevertheless a challenging portrait of a woman as deeply screwed up as usually only men get to be onscreen. I’m “biast” (pro): love Emily Blunt, desperate for movies about women
I’m “biast” (con): nothing
I have read the source material (and I am indifferent about it)
(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)
It is a sad irony that one of the underlying themes of The Girl on the Train — how women are demeaned, belittled, and infantilized as a matter of course in our culture, often to the point where we don’t even appreciate that that is what is being done to us — is reinforced by its very title. The “girl” on the train is Rachel Watson, who regularly rides the Metro-North commuter railroad into Manhattan’s Grand Central Terminal and...

The Girl on the Train is a mysterious, mid-budget thriller aimed squarely at adults — in other words, it's the kind of movie Hollywood rarely makes anymore. While it does suffer from some unintentionally comedic moments, it's otherwise a pretty straightforward adaptation of Paula Hawkins' bestselling novel with its best asset being a standout performance from Emily Blunt.
Blunt plays Rachel Watson, a divorced alcoholic who rides the same train from the suburbs into Manhattan every day and becomes obsessed with a couple she sees out the window. She crafts elaborate backstories for them as she passes by, imagining their relationship as an idyllic true love to avoid the pain of thinking about how her marriage fell apart. Rachel used to live two doors down from this couple, and she can't stop herself from stealing a glance into her former house and seeing her ex's new wife and baby through...

The Girl on the Train is the most popular, female-driven mystery novel since Gone Girl. So it was inevitable that Paula Hawkins’ 2015 debut novel would be turned into a film, and it was, rather quickly.
Directed by Tate Taylor, who served similar duty on another popular book turned film, The Help, the movie version changes a few things from the print product. But it’s still the tale of troubled, alcoholic, divorcee Rachel, who’s obsessed with her ex’s new wife Anna and weirdly fixated on one of the couple’s beautiful neighbours, Megan.
There are men in the story, too. Perhaps most prominent is Rachel’s former husband Tom, played by Jennifer Aniston’s husband, the versatile actor-writer-artist Justin Theroux.

For years, Wales-born actor Luke Evans has been part of bigger action and fantasy blockbusters like Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit and Fast and Furious 6, as well as genre films like Dracula Untold and The Raven. In Tate Taylor’s adaptation of Paula Hawkins’ bestselling The Girl on the Train, Evans finally plays a more grounded role as a man dealing with domestic issues and a missing wife.
Evans plays Scott, who at first is merely one part of a seemingly loving couple that Emily Blunt’s Rachel sees as she passes their house on her train ride each day. When Scott’s wife Megan (Hayley Bennett) vanishes, Rachel gets closer to Scott and learns there’s more to Megan and Scott’s relationship than what she sees from the train.

Paula Hawkins' watercooler thriller The Girl On The Train garnered stratospheric readership upon its release back in early January 2015, the immersive page-turner rapidly became the most scintillating whodunit since Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl (to which it's frequently compared).
Every tube car, street corner and airport lounge saw a sea of nose-deep bibliophiles eagerly consuming Hakwins' source novel which eventually amassed sales of 11 million worldwide. Rattling along the idyllic outskirts of middle class suburbia (on the Metro North Line), anguished divorcee Rachel Watson (Emily Blunt) silently sups from a vodka filled beaker whilst vigilantly gazing at the white picket houses of her former neighbourhood during the twice daily Manhattan commute (the locale of the film switching from London to New York).

Sinking into the film version of the Paula Hawkins bestselling mystery-thriller The Girl on the Train, the first thing you notice missing is England. That’s right, Hollywood has replaced that misty London train from which said girl thinks she witnesses sex, violence and maybe murder with a Westchester commuter express whooshing in and out of Manhattan's Grand Central Station. It's just not the same.

Marilyn Manson presumably shares many interests in common with his good friend Johnny Depp -- and one of them appears to be playing Native American characters on the big screen. The rock icon is coming under attack from online commenters based on the trailer for his upcoming film "Let Me Make You a Martyr" (watch it here), in which Manson stars as a Native American hitman hired by "a drug dealer, pimp and all-around scumbag" (Mark Boone Junior) to hunt down the adult son (Niko Nicotera) who has turned against him. "We choose @marilynmanson to play a Native American character when we have so many amazing Native actors? Why?" wrote Twitter user Megan Red Shirt-Shaw, who engaged in an extended...

A review of tonight's "Mad Men" coming up just as soon as I get The New York Times to print "Mein Kampf" on the front page... "This was a hell of a boat, you know?" -Roger There's a moment late in "Lost Horizon" that, if you've been on social media tonight, you've likely seen in gif form a few dozen times (or, like me, just kept it on in a loop in the background while writing about the episode). Peggy finally enters the McCann offices, Bert Cooper's infamous octopus painting under her arm, sunglasses concealing her hungover eyes, a cigarette dangling smugly from her lips. She has come a long, long way, baby, from the shy mouse whom Joan had to lead around the old Sterling Cooper office, and she is here to grab everything she's ever wanted, all on her way to one day having her name on...

It was a big week for Jessica Paré's Megan Draper on Mad Men. She discovered her mother (Julia Ormond) was having an affair with Roger Sterling (John Slattery), rejected the clumsy advances of Harry Crane (Rich Sommer), and walked out of a meeting with soon-to-be-ex-husband Don (Jon Hamm) with a million-dollar check in her pocket. Montreal native Paré took a few minutes away from her newborn son Blues to discuss all her character’s developments, and her feelings about Mad Men's final hours.Congratulations! You're not only a first-time mother, but now Megan's a millionaire after last night's episode. Thanks! I wish both those things were true in real life. What was it like for you and Jon to shoot the scene with the check? It was cathartic. Every scene in this final chunk of episodes consistently felt like we were saying good-bye. Megan said something people...

Welcome to the March 25, 2015 edition of Outrage Watch, HitFix's (almost) daily rundown of all the things folks are peeved about in entertainment. Today's top story: do we have a new "Gamergate" on our hands? "The new Gamergate: Angry white men are trying to shut down diverse comics," reads the headline of a piece written by Salon's Matt Binder, who claims that "right-wing parasites, misogynist Men’s Rights activists, and opportunistic grifters" including Breitbart contributor Milo Yiannopoulos (many of whom, he alleges, probably don't even read comics) are taking aim at attempts to add more women and racial minorities to mainstream comics, most notably the woman Thor. "The fact that a woman playing Thor would cause such outrage, when even a frog is able to take up the title of Thor sans controversy, is absurd," Binder writes before citing numerous other examples of targeted attacks by the trolls in question. He...

It is a shame that very few people know Sam Rockwell’s name. Most casual moviegoers are probably at least familiar with his face though, due to his scene-stealing turns in films as diverse as The Green Mile, Galaxy Quest, Iron Man 2 and Frost/Nixon. However, he also has a stellar resume of independent projects, including critically acclaimed turns in Moon, Conviction, The Way Way Back and Confessions of a Dangerous Mind.
Rockwell is formidable at playing men with a sense of arrested development. (his turn as the buffoonish but tender Owen in The Way Way Back even got him some long-overdue Oscar buzz). That made him a prime choice to join the cast of Laggies, a new comedy-drama from director Lynn Shelton.
