Part of the beauty of the "Star Wars" universe is how big and populated it is. Not only did the original trilogy deliver groundbreaking visual effects, but George Lucas wrote enough backstory and worldbuilding while working on the first film to sustain decades' worth of "Star Wars" movies. That worldbuilding also resulted in hundreds of smaller background characters that became overnight fan favorites once the movies — and the merchandise — started arriving. Even the most inconsequential one-off characters suddenly became beloved by audiences despite there being little to no official information available about them — at least, until we got entire novels and books devoted to every Glup Shitto and Max Rebo out there.
Of course, not every character gets that treatment. In fact, there is one character we only know the name of because the actor decided to take matters into his own hands during shooting — Quarsh Panaka. You remember that guy,...

When someone asks you, "Wanna buy some Death Sticks?" -- just say no. Unless you're Obi-Wan Kenobi, in which case you can use a Jedi mind trick to convince the dealer that they don't want to sell you Death Sticks, and that they should instead go home and rethink their life.
It's a small throwaway moment in "Star Wars: Episode II -- Attack of the Clones," but Elan Sleazebaggano (as he's identified in the credits) has become one of those extremely minor "Star Wars" characters regarded with fondness by fans -- like Porkins, Max Rebo, or Glup Shitto. "Everyone knows the 'Death Sticks Guy,'" declared the Death Sticks Guy himself, Matt Doran, in a recent interview with Empire magazine. "It's such a short scene, but it's amazing just how many people reacted to that one little tiny moment."

Part of the fun of fandom is becoming obsessed with background characters that have nothing to do with the main narrative. Star Trek fans still aren’t over the Klingon Chef from Deep Space Nine and Dune readers imagine the further adventures of minor Sardaukar warriors after the defeat on Arrakis. But no franchise has catered to its fans’ nostalgia better than Star Wars, with its emphasis on bringing back deep-cut background characters from the movies, like Ponda Baba or Bossk, in new ways.
From The Mandalorian to Obi-Wan Kenobi to Rogue One, the franchise rarely misses a beat when it comes to easter eggs, cameos, and callbacks to the saga’s past. Unsurprisingly, this trend will continue with the upcoming Disney+ series, The Acolyte.

Bespin, Outer Rim — Star Wars fans across the globe concurred on Wednesday that the 11th episode of Andor was the Disney+ series’ “best one yet, dude,” due to its inclusion of a way-cool space battle and rubbery aliens that spoke funny.
“Um, best Andor episode ever!” said Dale Wilhoit, president of the long-dormant Sweattoc (Star Wars Enthusiasts Against Taxation-Themed Opening Crawls), in a phone interview with TVLine. “After all these weeks of deftly exploring class solidarity, colonialism and the slow but steady rise of fascism, wow, did you see how the Fondor’s laser thing sliced that Tie fighter in half?...

What's in a name? In the vast universe of "Star Wars," it turns out that names can come from a wide variety of interesting places. Some names have meaning, like Han Solo's, while others are clearly a play on words, like the Mon Calamari, a race of aquatic fish people named after fried squid.
But where do the rest of the names come from? Would Max Rebo by any other name still play music as sweet? In an interview with Cbr, screenwriter and executive producer on "Obi-Wan Kenobi," Joby Harold, shared some of the secrets behind how the new characters on the series were...

Do character cameos make the "Star Wars" universe feel more connected, or are they mostly just fan-service with little intrinsic narrative value? Well, as a guy who's definitely for real named Ben would tell you, "Only a Sith deals in absolutes." It depends, in other words, on the context and what the cameo brings to the table.
For example, when Denis Lawson shows up for a few seconds as Wedge Antilles in "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker," it's really just an Easter egg. On the other hand, when Max Rebo (Rip?) appears in "The Book of Boba Fett," it both acts as an...

If your favorite character in an epic franchise dies, there's a good rule of thumb that you can take solace in: If you don't see their corpse, then there's a small chance that they're not really dead. This especially applies in "Star Wars." Darth Maul somehow survived his encounter with Obi-Wan Kenobi. For some ridiculous reason, Palpatine remained a presence in the shadows of a galaxy far, far away in order to be a main player in "Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker." And we're all still crossing our fingers for Max Rebo in the hopes that he wasn't...

After the events that take place in the latest episode of "The Book of Boba Fett," there are two burning questions on everyone's minds:
What was up with Luke's voice?
Is Max Rebo good? Has anyone checked on him?
The episode, entitled "From the Desert Comes a Stranger," features a devastating explosion at Garsa's Sanctuary, and it's interesting to note that a point was made to show all sorts of cantina patrons and staff present moments before the bomb went off -- including two other musicians who played there -- and Max Rebo wasn't among them.
This obviously leaves the fate of the blue space pachyderm musician unknown. Is...

There were several televised shindigs ringing in the New Year last week, but according to Twitter, it was “Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party” on NBC that earned the most buzz, topping Variety’s Trending TV chart for the week of Dec. 27-Jan. 2.
The Pete Davidson co-hosted show had been heavily promoted ahead of its Dec. 31 Miami broadcast, with Brandi Carlile, Anitta, Jack Harlow, 24kGoldn and Saweetie also joining in the festivities. The compilation of live performances and pre-recorded sketches had more than 600,000 engagements on Twitter, which was boosted by several key moments.
Cyrus and her sister Noah Cyrus taking the stage together for a performance of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” was a major highlight for fans of the siblings, while “Saturday Night Live” followers appreciated appearances by sketch troupe Please Don’t Destroy.

Robert Rodriguez is a big nerd, so it's only natural that "The Book of Boba Fett" is packed with "Star Wars" Easter eggs and references -- from returning characters like Max Rebo to a cameo by Rodriguez himself. The "Alita: Battle Angel" filmmaker is an executive producer on the show and directed the first episode, which landed on Disney+ today.
In "Stranger in a Strange Land," Boba Fett finds that it takes a little more to establish yourself as Tatooine's resident crime boss than simply sitting on Jabba the Hutt's old throne. As Boba and his lieutenant, Fennec Shand,...

15. Bistan
Bistan is a male Iakaru and came into our lives in “Rogue One.” His goofy energy paired with his cute little green suit is adorable — but can only get him the lowest spot on our ranking list.
14. Salacious B. Crumb
Yes, he’s kind of ugly — but there’s also a little bit of cuteness hidden in there. The Kowakian monkey-lizard amused us with his shrill laughter since his first appearance in “Return of the Jedi.”
13. Bobbajo
This creature shows up in “The Force Awakens” and his scrunched-up face with his white beard is just adorable! Ish.
12. Tauntauns
Okay, they aren’t the cutest in the Empire, but when you need to snuggle up to a creature, wouldn’t you choose this one?
11. Yoda
Yes, “Phantom Menace” Yoda is uuuugly, but Yoda in general, especially sad Yoda, is pretty cute amid his ugliness.
10. Jawas
Jawas are teeny humanoids completely hidden behind robes, from which peer their glowing yellow eyes. We just want to put them in our pocket!
9. Mouse Droid
The cute little boxy droid is used for delivery and maintenance purposes and were on both Death Stars and Star Destroyers during the time of the Galactic Empire. In one cute scene, Chewbacca growls at the droid and he squirms away.
8. Chewbacca
Chewie, our favorite Wookiee warrior. From being a loyal friend to a strong resistance fighter, his furry face is a cute one.
7. Power Droids
Acting (and looking) like batteries, these little creatures bounced around the galaxy.
6. R2-D2
The smart and spunky droid is everyone’s favorite as he’s appeared in every “Star Wars” film to date.
5. Max Rebo
Max Rebo is a male Ortolan from Orto, who leads the Max Rebo Band.
4. Bb-8
Of course we had to include Bb-8, one of the fan favorites from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.”
3. Porgs
Fans are already going bananas over the latest addition to “The Last Jedi” — the adorable Porgs.
“These penguin-like wide-eyed creatures are native to the planet of Ahch-To, site of the first Jedi temple,” said an EW profile.
2. Ewoks
These are arguably one of the cutest creatures in the whole universe — they look like teddy bears and live in tree houses on the forest moon of Endor.
1. Baby Ewoks
And our number one spot goes to the baby Ewoks! How Cute Are They?
