- William Hughes, from Mumbles in Swansea, Wales, played The Master in the 2007 story The Sound of Drums. At the age of eight, he was the youngest actor to play the renegade Time Lord. He also appeared in the 2008 Torchwood story Sleeper.
He gave up acting shortly after appearing in Doctor Who. His interests turned to Boxing, joining the Bonymaen ABC boxing gym in Swansea. Hughes had just completed he first year of a finance degree at Queen Mary University in London when he died on 9th of July while on holiday on the Greek island of Corfu. - After Roger Delgado, Peter Pratt, Geoffrey Beevers, Anthony Ainley, Gordon Tipple, Eric Roberts, Sir Derek Jacobi, and simultaneously with John Simm, he is the ninth and youngest actor to play the Master, the Doctor's greatest enemy, at the character's age of 8. He played the role, uncredited, in The Sound of Drums (2007), Last of the Time Lords (2007), The End of Time: Part One (2009), and The End of Time: Part Two (2010).
