For decades, marijuana has hardly been considered luxurious. After all, many folks were introduced to cannabis in a dingy basement at a friend’s house. But the forward-thinking city of West Hollywood is aiming to change all that. With the opening of the destination consumption lounge PleasureMed on Oct. 26, the adult playground of WeHo is well on its way to its stated goal of becoming the Amsterdam of America.
PleasureMed is the latest in a string of high-end cannabis businesses to open in the neighborhood. In 2022, partners including Woody Harrelson and Bill Maher opened The Woods, a lush tropical-themed consumption lounge featuring cabanas, koi ponds and private lockers where guests can store their stash. That same year, The Studio Cannabis Lounge opened atop The Artist Tree dispensaries.
More than earning the nickname “the Emerald Village,” WeHo boasts more dispensaries per square mile than any city in the world. It has...

The growing pains and dramatic throes of girlhood can be character building, traumatic, and cathartic — for both cinematic protagonists and their audience. It’s certainly not an easy time for the heroine at the center of “You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah,” whose impending rite-of-passage ushers in an adulthood she’s not quite ready to handle. Director Sammi Cohen and screenwriter Alison Peck bestow this hilarious, heartrending adaptation of Fiona Rosenbloom’s novel with an uplifting, effervescent vision and vitality, giving voice to a young Jewish girl’s struggle to figure out who she is before the most important night of her life so far.
Seventh grader Stacy Friedman (Sunny Sandler) is serious about her Bat Mitzvah … sorta. She’s put more thought into having a legendary party than studying the ceremonial text from the Torah. She has big dreams for a lavish New York City-themed bash,...

Warning: contains spoilers for The Gold Finale
At the beginning of each episode, The Gold announced itself as a mix of fact and fiction with the disclaimer: “The following is inspired by real events. Some characters or elements have been created or changed for dramatic purposes.” That meant while several of its characters had the real names of figures associated with the Brink’s-Mat Robbery, including Kenneth Noye, Micky McAvoy, John Palmer and Dci Brian Boyce, some were created for the series.
Money launderer Edwin Cooper is one of the invented names, for a character likely inspired by real-life solicitor Michael Relton, who was sentenced to 12 years for his part in washing the proceeds of the 1983 robbery. Detective Nikki Jennings is another invention, a composite character inspired by several of the female police officers who worked on the Brink’s-Mat investigation.
Two other characters appear under what seem to be invented names,...

It all began with six men in a van. On the 26 November 1983, half a dozen armed men broke into the Brink’s-Mat depot near London’s Heathrow Airport, where they were expecting to find a million pounds worth of foreign currency.
Instead, they stumbled upon gold bullion worth £26m.
At the time, it was the largest robbery in world history and changed British policing forever.
The case is being dramatised in a new BBC One drama, starring Hugh Bonneville, Jack Lowden, Dominic Cooper, Charlotte Spencer, and Tom Cullen.
Here’s what we know about it…
What happened on 26 November?
At first, it just seemed like “a typical Old Kent Road armed robbery”, in the words of detectives at the time.
The gang, some carrying guns, surprised security staff as they started their Saturday shift between 6.30am and 8.15am at the warehouse.
They gained entry from one of the security guards,...

Brian Robinson, a rookie running back for the Washington Commanders, was the victim of an attempted armed robbery or carjacking, and the NFL reports that Robinson sustained “non-life threatening injuries and is currently being treated at the hospital.”
According to the police, Robinson was found outdoors in the D.C. area with two gunshot wounds to his glute and lower leg. There are two suspects who were involved in the shooting, and one firearm was recovered near the scene.
The player went through minor surgery in the hospital, but he seems to be doing alright in recovery. Robinson’s coach, Ron Rivera said, “it’ll be a matter of time” before Robinson’s back on the field.
“It’s really just about the healing process,” Rivera told reporters, though he assured fans that the player’s progress was “positive.”
