Emmerdale's leading producer Gavin Blyth has admitted that he regrets the departures of Jenna-Louise Coleman and Sally Oliver. Coleman bowed out from her role as Jasmine Thomas on the ITV1 soap earlier this year and has since secured a role as troubled schoolgirl Lindsey James on Waterloo Road. Jasmine's exit saw her sent to jail after admitting responsibility for the death of boyfriend Shane Doyle (Paul McEwan). Meanwhile, Oliver's final scenes as Lexi King were broadcast in August. Last week, I asked whether you were happy that Emmerdale's Lexi King - played by Sally Oliver - had been written out of the rural ITV drama. The majority of those who voted (50.6%) said that they were disappointed she'd disappeared as she was just coming into her own. I have to say I agree - her final episode was amazing and in the lead up to her exit, Sally was really starting to 'own' her character. Meanwhile, 35.5% thought Lexi had run her course in the village and the remaining 13.9% of voters opted for the 'I'm indifferent' option. Emmerdale's much-anticipated real-time rooftop episode was seen by an average of 6.8m last night, early figures show. The rural soap's first episode of the night at 7pm, during which Lexi took to the roof with baby Angelica, logged 5.77m (35.1%). Its second real-time outing at 8pm - which featured Sally Oliver's departure from the soap - brought in the show's highest audience since May 18, interesting 6.75m (36.4%). The episode also achieved the soap's highest Thursday ratings since ITV's new lineup was launched on July 23.
