He is the only Canadian citizen to be Vice President of the International Olympic Committee.
He was awarded the O.C. (Officer of the Order of Canada) on October 21, 1992 for his services to Sports in Canada.
He was an Olympian in swimming for Canada in Rome 1960 Summer Olympics. He finished 6th for the Men's 100 meters Freestyle. And he finished 4th for the Men's 4 x 100 meters Medley Relay.
