Red Dwarf meets Interstellar? Channel 4's Space Ark pilot episode sounds like an interesting one...
We don't always report on in-development pilot episodes on this site, but here's one that caught our eye: a new sci-fi comedy from Channel 4.
Dubbed Space Ark, the new show (if picked-up from the pilot) would star the relatively low-key cast of Georgia King, Tom Stourton, Justin Edwards, Alex Beckett, Ricky Grover and Nico Tatarowicz.
It's the synopsis that gets us excited, so we'll pass it on in full:
“It’s 6 months, 1 week, and 4 days since the earth was destroyed by an asteroid. 200 humans survive on board a huge ‘Space Ark’. Their mission? To find a new planet where the human race can be re-established. The ship is populated by the finest minds the earth had to offer, plus an inept crew, an android-bear pilot and a member of the public who won his place by lottery.

British actor David Tennant has been forced to scrap his performances on the West End stage after losing his voice.
The former Doctor Who star is currently appearing in Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing in London, but he had to axe his appearances on both Monday and Tuesday after falling sick.
Understudy Alex Beckett took over the role of Benedick in Tennant's absence, but producers are hoping he'll be able to return to the show on Wednesday.
The play at the Wyndham's Theatre is due to finish on 3 September.
Tennant's voice problems also forced him to axe a scheduled promotional interview with BBC Radio 1 on Wednesday.
In a post on Twitter.com, presenter Fearne Cotton writes, "Big shame but David Tennant has lost his voice so can't come on my show today. We will get him back on soon though. Get better David!"...

The docuspoof/mockumentary format feels curiously old-fashioned suddenly. It’s the perfect approach to take with BBC4′s Twenty Twelve, which charts the efforts of an inept Olympic Deliverance Commission to promote London 2012, but there was something too safe and cozy about the whole endeavour. Almost like it’s a part of the Olympic marketing and, with a future cameo from Lord Sebastian Coe himself, that’s probably half-true. So, rather than deliver a scabrous and insightful criticism of the Olympic Games, Twenty Twelve is just a quietly mocking series that elicits the odd giggle.
“Matthew Pinsent? I don’t even know who that is.” — Siobhan
It’s a shame, because the performances and a good portion of the dialogue are very strong, and the show itself had an engaging momentum to it. Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey) gets to flex his comic muscles as formidable team leader Ian Fletcher, with...
