If there’s one thing Eboni K. Williams knows how to do, it’s finding the best ways to balance the good, the bad and the messy. As the “Real Housewives” alum embarks on her latest endeavor as the head of her own courtroom TV show — “Equal Justice With Judge Eboni K. Williams,” which premieres in syndication on Sept. 11 — she explores why America needs her unfiltered legal opinions.
Williams, a former public defender turned political pundit and reality star, previously made history as the first Black cast member to join “The Real Housewives of New York City” in Season 13, a season that lives on in infamy. Now 40, Williams becomes the youngest judge in the daytime syndicated TV space — and, while the space is its own beast, it’s one she’s excited to conquer.

Relationships are a mixture of moments of bliss, happiness, tears, and fights. Sometimes couples go all the way, and other times they end in divorce. What happens when divorce looms? Where do the couples turn to?
“Marriage Boot Camp” is one of the places couples turn to for help. WeTV calls it “the most extreme relationship therapy boot camp,” and you better believe it. The show brings together couples having troubles in their relationship — under the same roof — and makes them go through some exercises with help and guidance from in-house experts, Judge Lynn Toler, Dr. Ish Major, and Dr. Venus Nicolino. In the end, some of these relationships are salvageable, and others are not.
The reality TV show, which recently concluded its 19th season, is quite popular among Millennials, Gen X, and Baby Boomers and ranks 481 among the most popular contemporary TV shows, according to a rating by YouGovAmerica.

For decades, reality court shows have been a big hit in the United States. From Judge Judy to Judge Joe Brown, there’s no shortage of people in bizarre situations looking for some legal intervention. A new version of syndicated daytime courtroom series “Divorce Court” has come to order. Judge Lynn Toler is out after 13 years behind the bench, and Judge Faith Jenkins is in. While the split appears to be amicable, “Divorce Court” needed to try anything and everything to divorce itself from its poor Nielsen ratings. In the most recent week available of national-syndication ratings, the one ending on Feb. 23, 2020, “Divorce Court” tied for 71st place out of 104 shows, posting a weak 0.68 national household rating, according to Nielsen. That soft number is also exactly what “Divorce Court” is currently averaging season-to-date, so the lackluster weekly return is no anomaly. (“Divorce Court” ranks 68th out of 108 syndicated series.) Faith Jenkins is approaching the “Divorce Court” bench: Judge Faith is set to replace longtime “Divorce Court” judge Lynn Toler on the syndicated daytime program in July.
Additionally, the series is relocating to midtown Atlanta, at the Georgia Public Broadcasting Studios. It had filmed nearby at Tyler Perry’s Atlanta studio following a 2018 relocation from Los Angeles.
“We are confident that Judge Faith’s energy and passion for each case will build on the legacy of this program created by the exceptional talents of Judge Mablean and Judge Lynn Toler,” Stephen Brown, executive vice president of programming for Fox Television Stations, said in a statement on Thursday.
Mablean Ephriam presided over the program from 1999 to 2006, when Toler grabbed the gavel.
Jenkins added: “I started watching ‘Divorce Court’ in law school, so to be now joining the show is quite surreal. My legal expertise combined with my personal life experience – including...

Is Mama June Shannon encouraging Mike "Sugar Bear" Thompson to cheat on her?
Divorce Court's Judge Lynn Toler seems to think so.
In an exclusive sneak peek at Friday's Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars, Toler says to the Here Comes Honey Boo Boo star: "You don't show him respect, Mama June."
But, despite the fact that Shannon has reportly "traveled a bit" (euphemism alert!) during her marriage, the feeling seems to be mutual. Shannon specifically faults her husband for believing gossip that she stepped out on their relationship.

Hank Baskett already had to face the court of public opinion for his reported cheating on wife Kendra Wilkinson, and now he's facing an even harsher authority: Divorce Court's Judge Lynn Toler.

She did not bang the Tang. A man named Nathan Sellers accused his girlfriend Lia Palmquist of sleeping with the entire Wu-Tang Clan on the Friday, April 10 episode of Divorce Court, and their appearance before Judge Lynn Toler has since gone viral. "This sounds ridiculous, but he accused me of sleeping with the entire Wu-Tang Clan," Palmquist said before the courtroom, which erupted into laughter. "She did," Sellers claimed, while Judge Toler asked incredulously: "Well, do you even know the Wu-Tang Clan?!" Palmquist confirmed she did. "I did. [...]...

Nathan Sellers and Lia Palmquist certainly brought the ruckus to Friday's episode of Divorce Court, when Sellers accused his girlfriend of sleeping with the entirety of the Wu-Tang Clan. (Specifically, he said "She gave the Wu some tang" – we also would have accepted some kind of 36 Chambers-based pun.)
Palmquist told Judge Lynn Toler that while she was out with the group on their tour bus and in their hotel until 7 a.m. on the night (er, morning) in question, nothing untoward occurred.
"Nothing inappropriate happened, and let me just put on the record that Wu-Tang is nothing but gentlemen," Palmquist explained.

Twentieth Television and Fox Television Stations have announced that syndicated court show Divorce Court has been renewed for another season. This will keep the series on the air through 2016-17.
Judge Lynn Toler presides over the show which is currently in its 15th season. This incarnation of Divorce Court was launched in 1999. The original Divorce Court started in the 1950s and featured actors reenacting divorce proceedings.
"In the current landscape where many shows have declining ratings, we are thrilled to have a long-running program on an opposite trajectory," said Stephen Brown, executive vice-president of development and programming of the Fox Television Stations. "Renewing the series was an easy decision to make."

Twentieth Television executive VP and general sales manager Paul Franklin said, “Lynn’s ability to simultaneously entertain viewers while compassionately counseling her litigants is translating to ratings hights. There are several courtroom shows on the air right now, no doubt. But in our humble opinion, none are as entertaining as "Divorce Court" with Judge Lynn Toler.
Hats off to the casting directors of this series. It's a straight-up comedy as far as we're concerned.
After watching a few of the clips below, we think you'll agree.
Zap2it recently spoke with The Honorable Judge Toler -- a graduate of Harvard University and the University of Pennsylvania Law School -- who says the show looks for people who aren't fragile, people who are willing to own up to who they are and what they've done.
Toler tells us she hears about 160 divorce court cases per year, but still, there are certain couples that stand out. At the top of that list? The wife who slept with her groom's best man on the wedding night.
